That’s a great price for something that’s actually in stock!

  • well someone will be happy with this

  • +21

Still $60 over RRP. I hope most ozbargainers are boycotting this behaviour.

    • -1

      $160 over msrp right?

      • $688 RRP isn't it? which is $61 difference - almost a 10% mark up.

        • -8

          No $538 + 10% is ~$$590

          $400 USD converted to aud.

          • +1

@AEKaBeer: what makes you so sure that MSRP is $400 USD + 10% GST? are you sure that there's no other taxes/fees applied to any other goods in Australia?

            • @[Deactivated]: Given that generally speaking, pc parts are historically the one area we don't get gouged on. I saw more expensive pricing in korea and the US than what we had locally.

              • @AEKaBeer: it seems that you've been observing PC component parts for a while; from your observation, does the below formula is the norm for launch price in Australia?

                Launch Price = MSRP (from AMD/NVidia) + 10% GST ?

                • +1

                  @[Deactivated]: Wow didn't expect such a reaction.

20+ years. In answer to your question, it has always been fairly close, usually within a few percent. We tend to get hit harder on peripherals and much harder in terms of software.

                  • +1

@AEKaBeer: sorry, i don't quite follow; what sort of reaction? it was a genuine question but thanks for confirming that launch price = MSRP + 10% GST.

                    • @[Deactivated]: Not your reaction sorry, i saw -7 on my earlier post.

                      • @AEKaBeer: i didn't downvote you; i thought i put it out there.

                        • @[Deactivated]: Didn't think you did, I was just surprised when i saw the number and commented.

          • @AEKaBeer: Nvidia never released their FE in Australia, so any notion of their MSRP in pricing considerations is bogus. We'll always be gouged.

          • @AEKaBeer: Should include US taxes too.

            • @Shonky: They have state taxes on purchases which is essentially what gst is. We don't pay US taxes then pay local taxes on top.

      • NVIDIA announced MSRP as 688.

        • Nvidia playing the Au tax game?

          • @AEKaBeer: Of course. Aud rose only recently so they need to adjust for that too.

            • +1

@ATangk: Just going to force us to buy from other markets or AMD assuming they can contain their greed this release (not holding my breath).

              • +1

@AEKaBeer: That’s what I did. Amazon US import

    • +1

It's an AIB so I it doesn't have to fall in line with Nvidia msrp since Nvidia msrp is only for the founders edition.

"Update 1:00pm AEDT: Nvidia has confirmed that the MSRP for the RTX 3060 Ti in Australia is
      $688."

      • Pretty sure 3060ti FE was never released here

      • Thats fair, but the FE was not released here so the RRP must actually be applied to some product for it to mean anything. It cant just be an imaginary minimum that no one is paying. Otherwise Nvidia might as well tell us RRP is $1 and AIBs charge us $1,000.

        • You're right, Nvidia could still have done that, since AIB can always charge what they want.

          • @rainbowunicorn: And, going full circle, we should be boycotting this behaviour.

            • @Kill Joy: It's definitely not a ozb "deal" by any standard, but it's really not that far off msrp, so can't be too mad?

    • there seems to be plenty of ppl that love to buy over the RRP and still defend the deal

      • Have you ever bought something over the deal price then mentally told yourself it’s okay, since you got it now instead of waiting for a good deal? Especially when you see the deal price the very next day.

        It’s the same thing here.

  • with this trend, 5060 will be over 1k.

    • +1

Sounds about right but on a side note, problem isn't the companies. Their function is to make money and milk people as much as they can. It's on buyers to not be stupid enough to buy these products and show some restraint, which is unfortunately non-existent in Australians.

    • That will never be in stock again

      • Hmmm so now we are bagging for a stock availability and we are ready to pay waaay more that it worth just because it is available!!! Fantastic!

        • Seems it's going that way. Nvidia love to choke supply to keep prices high. I refused to pay the price for a 2070 super and they still haven't dropped enough to make them worth it and they are EOL.

AMD are no better. The hatred for intel and Nvidia has painted AMD as the good guys or saviours of pc hardware when they are really the same thing.

    • The 3 fan version is the worst reviewed 3060ti card that I"ve seen. I ain't no expert on these matters but surely the cheaper 2 fan version would be even worse

      • If 2 of 3 fans the performance barley run games at playable frames in 1080p…. So it definitely not worth the price.

        • You could make a good 2 fan version I believe, but it would likely be as expensive as a 3fan. Mostly 2 fan versions are made because there is less cost in the materials, especially the heatsink, and so they are either hotter, louder, or less powerful. The 3fan version is less powerful and hotter, so I don't know what went wrong there. They are different products though, and I couldn't find an actual review of the 2 fan eVga that you mention

  • how are the twin fans handling the heat?

    • There are no thermal issues with either 3070/3060 dual fan setup. You could even O/C for up to =<5 frame improvement if necessary.

    • If you actually look at the size of the pcb, the 3060ti/3070 is shorter than the length of the heatsink. A 2 fan is more than adequate. The 2nd fan can blow through the heatsink fins, cooling the soc doesn't seem to be an issue even with increased power limit. The major difference between aib coolers would be vrm and vram cooling and whether it makes good contact on the heatsink and backplate.

  • still refuse to spend over $700 for a gpu that use to get you a top xx80 tier card

    • Unfortunately it's not going to change. PC gaming is a small part of the market. Mining, AI and consoles will dictate the pricing no matter what we do. That and a 3 month wait for a $1400 gpu is rediculous.

    • Yep, $800 should be MAX for a top tier GPU, but Nvidia saw that ppl will pay $2500 for 2080ti so don't think we will get lucky
only if AMD can challenge Nvidia with their new gpu which is unfortunately low stock as usual

    • how much is 2080Ti ?

      • went from $2500 to sub $1000 when 3080 came out…..
        basically overnight

  • +8

this is the price that the 3070 should be. im not rewarding price gouging.

    • Nvidia's MSRP for 3070 is $809, so I don't think that's going to happen

  • +2

I cannot believe the OC versions of these cards are up to $200 more. Do people actually buy these!?!?

    • +1

I agree, cards like the 3060ti strix oc just don't make sense.

  • hold on and wait 3070 come to $700-$800 range.

    • You forgot the; '*'

        • Sometime mid next year.
      • +1

Does it really matter to wait a bit longer?
I got a 1650 super just for the interim till i can pair Zen3 + RDNA2 machine. Personally don't care about all the 4K nonsense gaming fuss ..lol

  • Say no to price gouging pls!!!!!!!!!!!

    • you folks probably represent only minority of proportion so this movement will never eventuate.

      • True and that's the sad part of living in modern society!

  • -1

A *60 series card shouldn't be more than $400. This generation of GPU's is a joke.

    • Nvidia just kill their own product…. If they put 3060ti for less than 400.. 2080 should be around 400 too..

  • +1

Don't think there is much point posting deals for GPUs right now. Any genuine deal is snapped up immediately leaving us with these posts which are just stock notifications at prices that isn't a deal.

  • Not even MSRP price. Price gouging

  • It's out of stock now, how can I change the title to fix that?
