when the new one is out, you can sell your switch and get the new one. Waiting aimlessly for months for the maybe-will-be-could-be just sounds weird; you're not throwing 450 bucks away in anycase, at most 100 bucks for a few months of use, I'd say that's fair.

@cunningdrew: Actually I do… But they only get my hand me down consoles, so the xsx and ps5 will be for me 😜. There are currently no exculsive titles that I want to play right now so I'm happy to wait.
Modern children really need to learn the word no. It’s bad enough some spoiled brat is getting a > $700 console at launch, but not being able to wait a bit is just pathetic.
@PainToad: This generation is no worse than any others. Wasnt like some kids weren't spoiled in the late 80s early 90s when we grew up.
Seriously, the parents paying well over retail for these consoles arent doing it for their kids, its just an excuse. They are most likely paying the extra so they can see the look on their kids face on christmas day (not necessarily because their kid is a demanding (profanity) who couldnt handle not getting it), are trying to compensate for something else, or really want one for themselves. Plus fomo.
Agree - marketing has really kicked in full gear with the launches and the kids. There are no decent launch titles on either system. It's all about 'I've got a PS5/XBSX1S"
My nephews want one and all they play is Fortnite. You don't need the ps5 for that.

@Pootie Tang: The problem is kids now see their parents living pay check to pay check or Centre Link payment to payment, never actually saving for anything, always buying the latest iPhone or whatever and using credit cards and Afferpay.
They grow up with zero exposure to having to save, wait and earn things. It’s what happens when the “I want it, so I’ll get it regardless if I can afford it” generation pops out kids.
Ironically, lots of these parents probably can’t really afford the actual children they’re popping out.
@PainToad: Agreed, on the flip side it can also be just pure overkill on the parents side. My brother in law who has no idea on how to purchase this stuff due to the demand, I advised eBay is your only alternative and it won't suprise me if they pay serious overs. In hindsight I probably should have preordered one for them. Nike released some shoes I was chasing on wednesday, bots had cleared the inventory out in 3 minutes, every size from 6-15. Faster than any of these preorders I have been involved in. Pretty unrelated but enjoy.
100% with you on this comment… i think 700+ for a present for a kid is a big enough deal as it is never mind them not being understanding that this all has gone down they may need to wait. Im not spending that much on my kids bday, nevermind Christmas :D

I have somewhat poor view of the S. But was seriously considering one as an accompaniment to my ps5. But every time i think about the lack of disc drive and smaller hd, combined with the lower performance, i'm like may as well pay the difference. If it was just that bit cheaper in Australia like $350 or $400 i think it'd be more compelling.
Unsure if i'll pick up an Xbox at some point in the next year, or get an improve switch if they release one. Hard to know, what the best choice will be. Could wait for the mid cycle upgrades which will presumably happen, hop on xbox then, and back play anythign good i missed.
Decisions, decisions. I have more time to think about these decisions than actually play. Sigh.

I bought the one on the 8th of December and got it delivered on the 9th. It was my 2nd one for my cousin who stupidly uses Vodafone so your mileage my vary.
I guess I was lucky with this, I ordered Monday, it shipped Tuesday and I had it Wednesday. Hopefully everyone else has the same luck.

Why tho? Next gen consoles are not even able to play 4k at 120fps? Max theyll be able to handle a AAA gane is at 4k 60fps imo. PCs are not even able to handle 4k at 120fps so how can a $750 console do it?
for me and for $750 vs teh cost of a 3080/90 60 fps will be great !

So literally will not be constant 4k 120fps, it will be dropped down to 1080p in scenes where it cannot handle the 4k at 120fps (which will be alot of scenes)
