Games that stood out to me are Sayonara Wildhearts for $15, Desperados III for $23. Maybe Control Ultimate Edition for $35? I'm sure there is more.. take a look below.

          I suspect they know they'll never compete on price with Steam/GOG/etc, so they're better chasing the parents/grandparents who will pay full price regardless.

          why all the blind support for a company that isn't consumer friendly?

          Shouldn't pc gamers be entitled to choice, being able to choose to purchase games from where they wish as opposed to monopolies, exclusivity restrictions and the like?

            The lowest sale price of any game on Steam is always way cheaper than on console's online stores or physical copies, so the problem is…?

              @FabMan: all good people I just don't get peoples blind faith on this and the whole "steam is always so cheap", which just doesn't seem to be the case.

              The amount of times I have one of my pc gaming zealot friends chastize me over steam being cheaper, then they see a game i'm playing on ps4 I picked up cheap and they go to buy it, most of the time it's more expensive on steam than it was for me to buy a physical copy.

                Oh I see the confusion, you're not comparing apples to apples.

                You mean steam's normal prices, not the sale prices. Those ARE expensive, sometimes even around the same price as consoles.

                PS4 games you "picked up cheap" aren't full price either, and as I said, they are nowhere near as cheap as steam sale discounts.

                For PC, the big sales are what matters most, since that's when everyone buys games.

                The people who say PC is cheaper are correct, they just don't buy the games at full price. They just wait a month until the next big online sale.

                Sure, some people can't help themselves, and have to have the latest game on release, at least occasionally. But nobody on OzBargain should be buying most of their games at full price on steam, or anywhere else.

                  @ItsMeAgro: Worst part as well is a lot of the third party key sites many pc gamers swear by are the product of crime and help fund credit card fraud and money laundering for the sex, drug and slavery trade.

                      @FabMan: I won't name the big three, but the big three you'd be aware of are involved in just those sorts of markets and love to claim they either do rigorous background checks or that they don't sell the keys, they just facilitate others doing it.

                      All of these fronts get used for people to launder money, part of why i'm not a fan of digital, gog is about the only honest one out there and it's still abused a lot of for laundering.

      They often have some GREAT deals on PC accessories throughout the year given they probably buy and sell more of them than anyone else in Australia, but their software selection is almost non-existent now.

        The xbox one version is ass. One in every five cutscene has no audio for some reason, characters lips don't even move for some reason. Might be the same on PC and PS4 for all I know.

              @Yuri Lowell: The game itself is fine, I was kinda getting into it until really important cutscenes had no voice at all, not even subtitles. And then the next cutscene did it too. And i look it up online and people were complaining about this problem on xbox ages ago, looks like it'll never be fixed. Without the cutscenes and x-files style story the game just feels like a 20 year old Half Life 2 experience.

          Nah control on PS4 has no issues other than slight lag when you unpause the game. Also control ultimate ed is the one people should get. Comes with expansions & next gen upgrade. It was $30 digital couple weeks ago

            @folktaliesin: No, not that. Google "xbox one control no voice in cutscene" without quotes and you'll see there are dozens, maybe hundreds, of threads reporting the same problem. My audio is not set to surround sound either btw, it's set to uncompressed stereo which works for literally everything else on the xbox, every other game and app. And it works for Control, except for some cutscenes. And the problem isn't that I can't hear the voices in the cutscenes, it's that they aren't being played at all. The characters just stand there in silence and their lips don't move. So for a 10 minute cutscene that's 10 minutes of silence. All you can do is button mash through it or just watch them standing there. Plus that's the cutscene that explains the story up until then and explains what you gotta do next. You step away from the cutscene not knowing what's going on or what you need to do. Also if the people she's talking to have the level 2, level 3, level 4 security keycard all along whey don't they just hand it over in the first place.

          True, was worth it for me as I traded a fairly beaten-up first gen controller.

          The Series X controllers do add some nice improvements, such as the textured grips and USB type C.

          Does that make them meh? Nah.

    Amazing price for Fallout 4. Game has hundreds of hours of content in the base game alone.
    DLC is not necessary at all. Been playing it again recently and it's a fantastic game.

          People absolutely were disappointed with Fallout 4 - people were calling for a return to the New Vegas days. It's why Outer Worlds (creators of New Vegas) did so well.

          But that disappointment was absolutely overshadowed by the anger for Fallout 76.

      I am playing Fallout 4 again during my study break and it is a wonderful experience. I first played on PC back in 2016. Building your character is really fun. $5 is an absolute steal for PS4

    Of the games that received a further reduction from Black Friday/Cyber Monday to now, I didn't get too stung.

    Still, with these sales, it's often a question of do I buy it now when I can do click & collect or not at all because the closest copy is literally on the other side of the country and delivery costs are horrendous.

    Hi - sorry to thread hijack - my son wants to use his savings to buy a used ps4 or xbox one console so he can play a few games over the holidays (nba 2k21 etc).

    He already has a mint PS4 controller that we purchased for apple arcade.

    Would you buy an older used console - and if so, which one and for what type of ideal price? Ideally I don't want ongoing costs like "live" membership - and just disc games (hopefully non-addictive).

    You can pickup a second hand PS4 Pro 1tb for ~$300 with controller off F.B. Is a PS4 pro or Xbox one x overkill given new generation consoles are now available?

      Even though you have a PS4 controller, you might want to look at Xbox GamePass, I know you say you don't want a membership but it's best to have a look at the games list. As you might save considerable money overall.

      Plus if your son wants to play online, you may be required to have these memberships for access to online anyway.

      If there are a lot of games on GamePass he's looking to play, that might be your best bet with a used Xbox One S.

      Otherwise if that's no interest to you, perhaps a PS4 is better, as you do have that extra controller.

      As for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X vs PS4 and Xbox One S. These don't have significant differences, they basically play games a medium bit better and will look sharper on 4k TVs overall.

      The entire catalogue on both platforms is perfectly playable on the base models.

      Above all else though, it'll be best to ask him to make a shortlist of games he wants to play, as some maybe exclusive to a platform and that is the best guide as to what to buy.

        Thanks for this - if we went down the PS4 path and non-online gaming (i'm trying to avoid the 'collecting things' addictive games) - would a ps4 1tb slim suffice - or would you pay a few more $ for the pro 1tb? We are still rocking the final generation of panasonic 1080p plasmas here in this house - so 4K not a big deal :)

          The big question is does he intend to play solo, or with his friends? This will influence platform and game selection, and requires a subscription if he wants to play online against his friends.

          My son has always had an XBox, but we recently bought a PS4 Slim because that's what ALL his friends have - so if it's co-op gaming, factor in something like $300 for a used PS4, another $50 or so for the PS subscription so he can play against his friends (I used a VPN and bought one from Brazil - was cheapest at the time). They all use headsets too - you can plug in phone headphones into the controllers, or headsets start around $50 and go up from there.

          This subscription includes a couple of free games each month which aren't too bad - December's freebie was Far Cry 4, I think November was Need For Speed etc. Sports games in particular date quickly - last year's FIFA is probably $10-20 now, this year's version is $60-70

          For 1080P a PS4 Slim would be fine.

          I would suggest the PS4 Slim if you are going to be sticking with your 1080p TV for the foreseeable future. I would consider the differences between the two consoles on your current TV to be negligible, and if you upgrade to a higher resolution set in a few years the PS5 will be a better option than PS4 Pro and will be backwards compatible with any games you are purchasing now.

          Like the others mentioned, I think the Slim seems your top choice :)

          That said, I'm not familiar with second hand costs of Slim vs Pro, if the difference is something like $50, probably splurge on the Pro. It simply is that little bit nicer, even without 4k output. There will still be 2-3yrs+ worth of new games on the PS4 generation, the Pro will remain that little bit nicer for those years also :) Generations transition very slowly these days.

          At a $60-100+ difference, I think that's grounds to consider your expected usage, which seems to point towards the Slim.

          As you can see by this post, $100 can go a long way to discounted games now!
