  • How do these raise?

I cant seem to see a display/control unit anywhere?

Looks like single motor but im eyeballing it.

I assume no memory control either at this price?

IMO not a deal, would recommend paying the extra price for the chinese ones with memory control

    • do you have a link to one with memory control? thanks!

    • +1

      Hi there,

These raise with a single electric motor, and a simple up/down switch. No memory control but includes wheels and cable management.

      • Any manual wind desk on sale?

        • Sadly no, but these are cheaper than most manual sit stand desks we've seen.

      I want to further clarify;

At this price I would recommend buying the slightly more expensive chinese ones.

This is a deal if you want to support (apparently, haven't done any research) Australian Company who make single motor desk.

Nothing is wrong with this deal its just not what I would buy.

      • Thanks for your opinion. Are you able to elaborate on why you thinking buying the more expensive Chinese ones is a better deal?

      • What's the difference between single vs double motor ?

        • +4

Not much, the desk still goes up and down. If one motor fails on any sit stand desk, regardless of whether its a single or dual motor, you can't use the desk. Conset's philosophy is to put more effort into creating a better motor that is less likely to fail rather than putting two sub standard motors in.

unless you have a ton of stuff on your desk you don't need a double motor.
IMO the preset thing is not worth the money you pay for it - i'm happy to push a button.

    • A single motor can lift the same weight as all the dual motor options so even if you do have a lot of stuff on your desk you don't necessarily need a dual motor. The 501-17 (single motor) has a weight capacity of 80kg - more than enough, even when you allow 15-20kg for the tabletop.

Conset even has a single motor variant that will lift up to 175kg (!)

  • Make a smart desk by connecting sonoff wifi relay controller. So you can say google raise my desk….

    • This sounds like a cool idea but I am not at all sure if the 501-17 is compatible with the product you mention. How does it work?

  • Sonoff has relays which can connect in parallel with the up and down switches. So only have splice wires. It of course void the warranty. A relay is just electronic version of a switch

    • Very cool.

      • I should add, for obvious reasons we can't recommend this nor offer technical support to anyone who tries to do this to their desk, but it does sound like a cool idea for those technically skilled enough to pull it off.

  • I attempted to buy one put classy red gum timber slab on top add sonoff smart home controller and sell it on fakebook as one of kind smart desk

    • We've known quite a few people to do up their own nice hardwood tabletops and pair them with Conset frames for their own use. I'm not sure if we've ever had anyone convert them to a smart device but would be keen to hear if anyone has done it.

Is it that much better than getting a 1500mm one from officeworks for $429 with decent warranty?

Come on I literally bought a dual motor boost for $680 30min before this listed…
And I was happy with that given it came with a 1800x900 Top.

Man I knew this would happen, my spidy sense was tingling

    • It's rule #1 of online shopping. If you want something to go on sale, go out and pay full price for it…

Sorry about that! Boost is still a great desk.

    • that is an insanely good deal my friend. did you use a voucher or was it part of a christmas/black friday sale?

  • What brand is the motor?

    This is the key question.

    • To our knowledge, the motors in the 501-17 are generic "Conset" brand (Conset are a global company), but we will ask Conset directly for clarification and post the response here.

      • The response from the director at Conset Australia is that the motors are made to spec for Conset, so the brand is of the motor is Conset.

Thanks OP. Ordered one. Hopefully turns out to be good!

    • Thank you for your order! We will dispatch ASAP for you.

  • Hi Op, sorry for the noob question, I haven't owned a standing desk before. When you say 80kg weight capacity I assume this is only for the lifting. It would not affect it if I were to lean over on the desk once it is lifted up already, or place more weight on it while stationary. is that understanding correct?

    • Hi, thats a good question and one we get asked often. The weight capacity refers only to the lifting, so you are fine to lean on the desk so long as you are not doing it while you're raising the unit.

      • Thank you :) I suppose the max recommended table top size would be 1600x800mm?

        • You could get away with an 1800mm wide top, keeping in mind you would have an overhang of around 12cm on each side.

  • Shame Perth is excluded from the free shipping deal.

    • Yes unfortunately we had to make that call as all the stock is held on the East Coast at this point. It's still a pretty good deal even when you factor in the $30 shipping. Send us a DM and we'll see if we can't do something about that freight charge…

      • With no WA local stock, how would the warranty work?

        • Parts would be replaced from whatever stock remains in Melbourne as per current warranty policy, the same way as everywhere else in Australia. No freight charges for warranty replacements :)
