Looks like a decent price. The only problem is I've already spent over 4000 dollars over the weekend.

Holy moly! We should have posted on Friday :)

  • +1

    Before anyone asks, single motor

    • +1

That's right, thank you for clarifying. These are single (high quality Bosch) motor desks. Conset have been making sit stand desks for almost 20 years and have always stuck with a single motor design, preferring to focus on the quality rather than quantity of the motors.

      • +1

Say the motor fails - how easy to source a replacement? Is it a proprietary design?

        • That's right, it is a proprietary design. If the motor fails within warranty period we would replace the entire legset.

  • The sale desks don't have height memory correct?

    • +1

Correct. You can purchase a memory handset, but they are pricey for the function that they add. (A pencil line on your wall basically does the same job if you are wanting it go to exactly the same spot)

This does underline one other benefit of the Conset desks is that they are upgradeable with other parts such as:

      Battery pack: https://www.ausergo.com.au/products/conset-sit-stand-desk-ba…
      Lockable castors: https://www.ausergo.com.au/products/conset-sit-stand-desk-ca…
      Preset Controller: https://www.ausergo.com.au/products/preset-controller

You can retrofit these parts as need be.

      • Is this model(Conset 501-49) compatible with wheel castors ? The Lockable Castors page you linked only said they were compatible with Conset 501-33, Conset 501-37 and Conset 501-43.

        • Sadly no, I should have clarified that. The previous model of the 501-49 was compatible with castors but this model isn't unfortunately. Thanks for bringing it up and my apologies for the unclear info.

Anyone have any recommendations for a 2m tabletop to chuck on one of these?

I need a lower desk due to my height challenged body so I'm not typing level with my ears.

    • For the vertically challenged a 3 stage leg is definitely the way to go as it will reach those lower heights that a 2 stage can't.

Both Bunnings and Ikea have a pretty good range of tabletops at a reasonable cost, although you may need to search "benchtop" if you're checking online at Bunnings. With a frame width of 1720mm the max tabletop size we recommend is around 2000x800mm.

  • Oh man, this or an omnidesk…

    • +1

We can give you our opinion but it might be a little biased… :)

  • Are there any afterpay options available for this at all?

    • Sadly no, we don't offer Afterpay or Zip at this stage…

      • @ausergo, if I decide to get this and want it delivered next week not this week, can I just put a note in the order ?

        • Absolutely. You can specify your preferred delivery date in the notes/comments section of your order and we will make sure it is not shipped before then.

Anybody here personally own one of these? We are currently looking to replace our two desks with standing desks.

    • I just put together mine a couple of days ago. Seems pretty good so far, feels very "solid" going up and down and like there's plenty of heft in the base. My main criticism isn't with the product itself, it's just that the assembly instructions could have been better. Really low DPI and using a very heavy "economy" toner setting on the printer it seems, so it's a little hard to make everything out clearly. Also a bit more detail/angles in the instructions could be included. That being said, once you've figured it out it's not that difficult to put together, I can just see some people having difficulty. Perhaps some "localisation" of the instructions might be a worthwhile investment?

Another thing is that the desk tops don't have any pre-drilled holes in them to line up with the frame. I can see how it's cheaper to just ship the tops straight in from China but some pre-drilled holes would be a nice touch ;)

All that being said, I'm pretty happy with it so far. I haven't experience with any other standing desks but I can imagine they'd be a bit flimsier and feel cheaper/wobblier than this.

While I'm here, I really have to criticise the shipping company who delivered it:
-No notification that the delivery was on his way, so it arrived right when I was putting my kid to sleep.
-There was only one delivery guy and he needed me to help carry it.
-He wanted to lift the entire pallet instead of just the box, so I had to run and get gloves so I didn't get splinters. Also they left the pallet here so now I have to dispose of it.
-He parked across the road and one house down from mine, so we had to carry it much further than just a driveway.

      • Very interesting, thank you for the response. The no pre-drilled holes is almost a total turn off for me especially if I am buying the package. Thanks

        • +1

I had to be honest about it :) It took a little bit of measuring to make sure I had the frame lined up straight/centered on the actual top. Once I'd done that I just drilled shallow holes using the ones in the frame as the template. Even a really shallow hole gives you enough to get the screw started in the melamine, which as far as solid materials go is pretty soft to screw into.

      • Hi krazynayba,

Thanks very much for your detailed feedback. I will certainly be passing on your feedback of the assembly instructions to Conset.

Regarding the delivery side of things, this is definitely something we want to discuss with our couriers directly as asking customers to lift pallets is absolutely not what we want happening for obvious reasons. Would you mind DMing us your order number so we can investigate? This is not something we have heard of occuring before so hopefully it is a one off localised incident. Normally couriers are happy to unpack a pallet and deliver the boxes so Im not sure why this courier acted differently.

Lastly, regarding the tabletops being blanks. We acknowledge the lack of pre-drilling is unfortunate, the reason Conset does this is so they can use the same tabletops for their entire range of frames. If they had these tops pre-drilled to suit every compatible frame they would look like a pin cushion underneath and be prone to cracks and breakages. We hope that the minor inconvenience of having to measure equal distances on each side is balanced by the good quality of the desk and the fact that you'll only ever have to do it once.

Thanks again for your feedback and we're glad to hear you like your desk.

        • Thanks for the reply!

Sure thing, I'll DM you the order number shortly. Hopefully just a once-off :)

I thought that might have been the case re the tabletops, i.e. there are multiple different frame types and they wouldn't all have the same hole locations. That's fair enough, I definitely wouldn't want a pincushion underneath. Even maybe putting some small template stickers on the bottom showing where to drill could help? Either that or maybe some addition to the instructions on how to measure/centre the frame properly. Definitely glad it only has to be done once. I was surprised at how solid and heavy the top is. Definitely feels like it's 'industrial grade' and will last a long time.

          • @krazynayba: I love the template idea and it is actually something we've raised with Conset before. Conset ship these frames globally though, so getting them to change things from the top-down level is a …steady process, hopefully with more great feedback like this we can get results.

Out of curiosity, how would these compare to the IKEA Bekant? The Bekant's regular price is $20 more than these on sale but comes with 10 years warranty instead of 5 which I feel is easily worth it even if they don't include free delivery.

    • +1

Good question. On the surface when you compare the Conset 501-49 with Ikea's 3-stage Bekant (not the 2 stage model) they seem more or less the same as far as looks, functionality (eg. height ranges, handset, etc) go.

Other than the price, it's hard to find details on the weight capacity of the Bekant but it appears to be 70kg which is quite low for a modern desk.

We don't like to say negative things about the competition but you don't have to look far online to find people's opinions of Ikea's offering. A 10 year warranty is great, even better if you don't have to use it.

Thanks for the quick response :)

I owned a non standing Bekant and switched to one of these Conset standing desks. Not exactly apples to apples but the non standing Bekant has a very similar design to the standing version. Tbh the Bekant isn't near as solid and is prone to wobbling, and this is sitting - I can only imagine it'd be worse while standing. I actually had to wedge my Bekant right against the wall to give it stability to not wobble!

      • +1

This is great feedback, thanks again!

  • +1

Oh man, this is mighty tempting. Been looking at a sit-to-stand for a while now… Can I just check that it's the same price for the different sizes of Conset 501-49?

    • Thats right, all tabletops are the same price for this sale only (normally there is a slight variance).

  • +1

Hi Op, I am looking to buy two of them for a home office setup. However the house will only be settled tmr and I need actual measurements to decide the size of the desk top. Would it be possible if I order two today but change the size when I have actual measurements? Thanks.

    • Not a problem at all, the tabletop prices are all the same so it's no problem to switch tabletops once you're ready for shipment. Just pop a note in your order at checkout advising of your desired delivery date and let us know the top size you'd like before then.

      • +1

Thanks mate. Now ordering time. This weekend is the biggest spending weekend.

        • Tell me about it! I've been burning a hole in my pocket too. Tis the season I suppose…

        • P.S. Order received and delivery date noted, thank you very much.

          • +1

@Ausergo: Thanks buddy. Now I have the measurement and would like to change one tabletop size to 1600x800mm. I have tried using "contact us" to put the message in but failed at the "I am not a robot" verification process.

Edit, don't worry. I received a confirmation email from David. The message went through despite it shows verification unsuccessful.
