Earn up to 450 Qantas Points for Completing The New 'home Safety Checks' in The Qantas Wellbeing App (3 Min) @ Qantas Insurance

852

The Qantas Wellbeing App has a bunch of checks that we've talked about previously, where you can earn Qantas Points for say, checking your blood pressure, or your car tyre pressure. With the launch of their Qantas home insurance, they've added a few checks for points:

  • Smoke detector check - 50 Qantas points (5 without insurance)
  • Home Security check - 150 Qantas points (15 without insurance)
  • Flexi Water Hose check - 150 Qantas points (15 without insurance)
  • Gutter check - 100 Qantas points (10 without insurance)

Note, no evidence or photos seem to be required, nor is any purchase of home insurance required.

Took me 3ish minutes to do the lot.

edit: it may depend on your level of insurance in the app, as to how many points you get.

Just to confirm, I get almost nothing unless I have insurance with them? And they get a whole bunch of data from me ?

The app is also a convenient way of preventing your Qantas Points from expiring. Earn even 1 point, prevents your points from expiring another 18 months.

Personally I'm not fussed if they know I've checked my smoke detector battery, but I just provide the info. Up to you whether you want it or not.

cool, so 45pts at best for the vast majority. If that's worth contributing to big data then horses for courses I suppose.

        • +4

Have you actually tried and seen what data they ask for?

It's a yes/no type of questioning. Hardly invasive.

          • -6

@txb: Do you understand the concept of big data and applied intelligence? Pretty sure you don't. I don't care what people do but for 45pts I won't

      • exactly right. done. 25points for smoke detector check. good idea anyway.

        • A few free points to remind me to change my smoke detector battery, which I had forgotten about, I'm fine with.

Yo’ve evaded his question, therefore I assume he is correct, and the ad title should reflect that. It’s up to 45 points for everyone, x10 if you HAPPEN to already hold qantas home insurance

  • Been doing these to get those extra points. Has anyone’s BMI check been failing lately though? Keeps saying an error occurred when I click calculate.
I’m on an iPhone X iOS 14.2 with the latest version of the app.

    • I'll quickly check

Nope, no error for me. Android, but that shouldn't affect it as it goes to a backend server. Odd. I'd file a bug in the app. (I worked for them years ago, they'll get on to it fast especially with someone on latest iOS).

Thanks will do. It used to work fine in the past but only recently been giving me this problem. Cheers.

    • My BMI check failed. But that's coz I'm fat. Not the app.

Is this a personal data collection exercise? Are they recording your medical results (e.g. blood pressure) or other information about you for storage and sharing?

    • I've always entered my blood pressure as 120/80, which the app seems fine with.

      • There's even an option below that which lets you pick from Normal, Normal - High, High.
I just select normal every time.

Giving out personal info for jack all if witohut insurance with them?
    Yeah nah

    • +1

      Make it up?

The questions are hardly personal… Unless you consider whether you're tap hose is worn or not private stuff.

    • +2

You log in with your Qantas login so obviously they already have your details there. And then the questions are things like "have you replaced your smoke detector battery in the past 12 months" and other generic ones like that

    • I didn't give them any personal info, you can make up anythign you like, it isn't like they can check

  • -6

data collection for 45 points, no thanks

    • +4

Commenting for internet points? Yes please!

    • -1

A bit off topic (in a kidding way): I always feel the term "no thanks" is actually offensive and hypocritical. When you are not truly thankful, why would you say thanks?

  • Can you tell me what was involved in the smoke detector check?

    • It was like 2 questions, something like have you changed the batteries in last 12 months.

      • +1

Pretty much asks you to test if the alarm works and if you've changed the battery within the last 12 months.

  • Thank op. Easy way to prevent points expiring. Need to set alarm before 18 months so I can do test again. I only have 4500 points but better than letting it go to waste.

    • Totally. Even doing the daily steps - set and forget, it's free points!

      • They recently lowered the maximum points you can earn per day and week though :(
