If you get to that level perhaps RX 5700 XT is something to consider.

      • I've currently got a 2070 Super, it's more the prices even at MSRP are getting out of hand, I'm more pissed for the low to mid range PC gamers. At these prices one may as well just get a PS5 or Xbox 4 (F microsofts name BS). I'll be waiting till the 3080Ti is released myself.

        • Fair enough. I myself upgraded from 2070 Super to 3070 after failing to get a 3080.

I have to say, I can feel a significant boost in performance and FPS.

          • @aveeno bb: Getting one is the issue, so may as well wait for the 3080Ti, the rest of my system is all high-end, 5950X, 64Gb, 980Pro 1Tb, Firecuda 520 1Tb x2. Mainly for Cyberpunk lol.

For anyone interested, in Hardware Unboxed's review of the 3060 Ti, relating to thermal performance (with default/performance) bios at 21 degrees ambient temperature:

Gigabyte Gaming OC Pro (3 fans) - 67 degrees peak at 1950 MHz with a 2100 RPM/79% fan speed.
ASUS ROG STRIX OC (3 fans) - 58 degrees peak at 1950 MHz at 1650 RPM/69%.
    EVGA FTW3 Ultra (3 fans) - 72 degrees peak at 1980 MHz at 2000 RPM/72%.
    MSI Gaming X Trio (3 fans) - 61 degrees peak at 1980 MHz at 1800 RPM/68%.

    • I guess its worth to hold out a lil longer then

    • Really surprising to see the EVGA FTW3 Ultra cooler performing so badly, they are usually pretty good. I know 72C is nothing to be concerned about, but it's doing that at 2000 RPM as well which means it's going to be louder than the MSI and ASUS even though it's running hotter.

I like to run a very relaxed fan curve on my GPU, allowing it to get up to 70C before the fans really ramp up because it's a lot quieter that way.

    • Surprised to see the thermal of the FTW much higher than the rest.

  • Current running a 1080ti and only for sim racing in VR.

Would like some more power to run assetto Corsa competizione a little better.

Is this the time to upgrade?

this isnt really that much faster than your 1080Ti

maybe wait until theres stock of reasonably priced 3080 or 6800XTs or skip this gen entirely, your 1080Ti is still really good

Think of it as upgrading from a 2070 super to a 2080 super. (They have very similar performance to 1070 ti and 3060 ti).

      I wouldn't think it's a worthwhile upgrade.

    • Thanks guys. That's what my research tells me too.

Might get a new vr headset instead.

I'm telling myself to "Stay calm for next 4 months"

  • Decisions, Decisions…

  • In 2001 I bought a GeForce 3 for £340, which is about £566.03 or $1024.67 after inflation, there has always been pricey GPU's.

    • Yes and in 2011 I bought a 560 ti for $280 ish which would be around $430 these days after currency devaluation. When I bought my rx580, I compared it to a 1060 6gb which was $450 ish. Mid range cards in the last 2 have increase by 46% and thats using the msrp. These cards aren't even hitting msrp and they're selling out

Yes there have been pricey gpu's but mid range gpu's have never been this expensive. The 2000 series was a massive gouge and AMD chose to follow.

      • A good point.

The chip on 3060Ti is 20% larger than the 560Ti, the 3060Ti board uses more expensive components, and the cooling solution is more advanced too. However, I also don't think that justifies an increase of $280 for a mid-range GPU. The largest factor in the price I suspect is the low supply, with the high demand.

  • I don’t get why people are buying this when rtx 3070 is available for very little more

    • How much is very little more? Which one?

      • $879 last deal on here. If you are spending so much why waste your time with this. Future proof for a bit longer.

        • $170 more is "very little more"?

        • you said available though. Happy to buy 3070 for 879 now. Umart preorder was 809 but it is not available anymore. Based on that logic no one should ever buy 3060ti since 3070 was 809 once.

3060 ti is more than sufficient for many people making a 3070 wasted money, 3070 bang for buck is LESS than the 3060 ti so definitely smarter to get the 3060 ti if it meets your needs.

    • Even though 3060 ti has better value, 3070 has higher average fps. Pay more get more fps.

    • None of the 3070+ options fit in my case.

    Pre Order from PLE. Nah.
Waiting for a 3080 for more than 2 months now 😂 (Not entitrely their fault though. EVGA AU confirmed they (PLE) are getting small alloc each week due to too much demand)

  • I like all the comments about the price being too high, yet they're flying off the shelves without any stock around. If anything the logical course for NVIDIA and AIBs in this type of environment would be to raise prices to drop demand. It shouldn't be this difficult to buy a new graphics card if you need one. Once shelves are fully stocked. Feel free to complain about the pricing all you want.

  • I was planning to get this card eventually for a SFFPC build. However, the same card is 540 in Canada (similar US exchange rate). I could get a relative to ship it but Canada post rates are a rip off and then duty coming into Australia would eat up the 160 savings.

I assume that you can get a full refund from PLE if you pre-order and it doesn't show up for months?

    Still using a 1060.

    • Yes cancellation is easy. It's out of stock now with no ETA.

  • 700$ lul.

  • Nowadays I go to fb marketplace to get a good laugh at scalper’s pathetic and laughable item descriptions for high demand items 😂. (rtx series / next gen consoles, etc)

  • New ETA available in Jan 2021. Get in quick!

    • Now back to Dec 2020 ETA.

  • Freaking PLE ETA keeps changing…ordered on 5th and now ETA is 30th Dec…Same for the NR200 Case…ETA keeps moving forward each day.

    • I feel you I upgraded my order from the XC to the FTW ultra because it was showing the same ETA of the 21st Dec then checked today and it's changed to no ETA. Think it might be time to cancel the order and just spend the extra $100 for an in stock MSI or gigabyte card.

      • I called them and they said its an error. They are expecting the evga cards to arrive next week.

        • i cancelled my whole order and ordered the Zotec 3070 OC from scorptec for 170 more. now choosing between NR200P or Inwin A1 Plus for my case…CPU wise i am out of luck everywhere it seems unless i get a 5800x

          • @Raggie255: I also cancelled my order can got a Inno3D 3060TI for 799$. Apparently its a price error?..

            • @melo4510: what was a price error? the 3060 Ti or the Zotec 3070? I went to scorptec today and they said i should recieve my card next week and NR200P case by first week of Jan…i hope the 3070 wasn't a pricing error

What max temp is everyone getting? Curious to know if mine is normal or running too hot.

    • I believe these are designed to run at around 72C, but up to 80 shouldn't be an issue.

    • I'm getting around the 68c to 71c out of the box setting under full load. Boosts to 1950mhz

  • Just placed an order, showing 01/02 eta on their website
