  • What about Eastern Digital HK

    • East Digital HK, Only appear to have "Factory Recertified" 22TB Exos ($501.00 which equals $22.77 per TB). But when I've ordered it's been sent from Australia and not HK same as others in previous East Digital posts here.

These drives posted here are between $27-30 per TB
They also have 22TB Exos but for $610 which is far more expensive than East Digital.

      Edit: Rephrased comment

      • My last East Digital order also came from New Zealand.

Unless you need a really large drive, the sweet spot is around 16 - 18TB.

        This is not our post.

@itsme56 OP. Can you please add the free shipping coupon into your post?

        Thanks!

      • +2

It isn't their post, but maybe OP or mod could.

    • Thanks! added to the post. Any word on recertified 30TB drives? Have been waiting for 30 but the 28 is tempting.

      • No clues on 30TB yet at this stage.

      • The coupon code goes into the coupon code field by the way, don't put it into the deal title as that makes it really messy. Thanks.

28TB… wow… I'm just in the middle of upgrading my Synology from 4x4TB to 4x16TB ST16000NM000J from Eastern Digital… shipped from AU as others have mentioned. Ordered Thu evening, delivered Sunday morning (due to Xmas weekend post)

    • I'm sure Neology are pleased.

    • Are they refurbs or new?

      • 28TB are Seagate Recertified.

  • +1

I just bought some 22tb elements :/ 30tb sounds so good. But the recertified aspect scares me.

  • I prefer the WD server pulls than the recertified. Retains all the SMART values.

  • i wonder where all these recertified drives come from? has someone just got hold of some program which clears the smart data?

  • decent deal, east-digital doesn't sell these capacities yet

some prices for comparison from serverpartdeals
shipping be around $70-$120 for 2-6 drives
    check stores feedback here
only 24TB model might be worth it
    but dunno how warranty works

Our warranty team operates locally, and we try to provide warranty experience with minimum turnaround.

      Hope this info helps

Tired of Spinning platen Seagate stuff not lasting as long as WD stuff … landfill!

    • +2

Each of them have good and bad models over time. Ideally you'd not get drives from the same batch ever

    • +1

Owned one WD drive in my life and it failed, I went with Seagate, running fine for years. Might try WD data centre ones. Things change.

  • I've brought a few drives early last year (under 20TB), running 24/7, no issues. Quick to post. Most likely to by again.

  • Any deals on the 16-22tb models?

  • if only these capacities were more common so I could safely purchase now and expect a discount in the future for expanding the pool with the same capacity.

    • they should become more common over the next 12-24 months as 30TB is now in production

  • I recently ordered new Seagate 18TB NAS drives from Amazon Germany.
One of the drives had phyical damage on the side of the drive from Seagate sealed original packaging.
Unfortunately, I had left the drives for about two months before deciding to deploy and Amazon return window had closed.
    Just putting it out there.

We understand the pain point dealing with hard drive warranty. That's why we have a onshore team to deal with return and warranty in Melbourne to minimise the turnaround time.

    Gee whiz. 28tb!
I’ve been out of the computer/IT game for a long time, I think the last HDD’s I bought were 1 or 2 TB and I thought that was huge.

  • General question,

Are seagate drives more popular in the enterprise space? Just wondering if this is why we don't see a lot of deals for WD drives?

Currently rocking 4x4TD WD Reds from 10 years ago and I'm getting a bit worried about them, poking around the WD / Seagate datasheets and the WDs seem to be generally quieter.

    • There are WD Ultrastar / Gold Series in the Enterpise & Data Centre market.
We offer both Brand New and Refurbished WD enterprise grade HDD, you can check the ranges here: https://neology.com.au/collections/wd-all

  • I'm thinking of getting a EXOS for cold storage, updating once every 6 months or so… simply because they are cheaper then Ironwolfs I use in my PC. I assume there is no issue with this plan?.

I'm a bit nervous to buy EXOS drives for my main home PC plex server use, due to increased noise. I currently run Iron Wolfs in my Home PC and don't hear them much, but online reports say the Exos are much louder.

  • @Neology Your website says 3 years warranty for these Western Digital Red Pro NAS 20TB . Isnt it 5 years?

    • Hi there,

WD offeres 5 years warranty to their retail product.
This is international stock. and we provide 3 years local store warranty.

You may be able to regsiter 5 years warranty with WD depends on the batches, but there is no guarantee.

      Hope this helps.

  • Seagate only gives 0.5 year warranty on these, store only gives 1 year.

They're not 3 year like other refurbs.

  • Looks like the deal is still active but the free shipping has expired, FYI. @Neology pls confirm.

    • both deal and free shipping are expired. Thanks for participating, folks!
