Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

Can i use amex for this or will it be cash advance?
Dont want to use my 28 degrees since seems it typically will i cure cash advance fee

    • It won't let you add amex even if you wanted to.

Just use a Visa or Mastercard awards card to get some points when paying it off.

    • Can I add credit card to pay off? As per the app it states debit card only. I am wary that if I add credit card it may be treated as cash advance

      • I have the same Q too. Visa Credit added. But wondering if I paid off early using an actual Citi or ANZ Plat Credit card if there will be Surcharge or worse Cash advance.

    Went to woolies
Took one wish card to checkout
Asked staff to put $1000 on card
    I split payment into 4. $300 x 3 and $100 x 1 using zip
Wish gift card wouldn't activate because $1000 is above its limit.
Staff refunded me into my non zip card
Offered to reprocess 2 x $500 wish cards.
I said my wife specifically asked me to buy 1 x $1000 wish card for a gift so I have to check with her and come back later.
    Left woolies

    Net result:
$1000 transferred from my zip to my non zip account, and $100 in zip rewards.

Will check with my wife if she's happy with 2 x $500 wish cards and if so, will be back to buy them….

    :)

    • The Max is 500 per card.

      • Yeh, I wasn't aware of this limit and neither did the staff assisting me.

    • wont the cashback be reversed? one could do the same by returning the item back for a refund?

      • Accidentally tapped my Non zip card when processing the refund..

      • He said they refunded him to his other card.

    • Lucky you. Wondering if they refunded to your zip account then you may be left with nothing today.

      • If they had refunded to my zip account, then I would assume the zip rewards would also be reversed.

It came to my attention that Target has 10% off kids cards TNC . I went down and got 5 lots of 6 x $50 + $30 and $3 of goods a matchbox car . Good for JB HI FI .

    • Kids TNC can be used at JB? I may swing past and look

    • Confirmed. Have made separate post. Have given credit to you.

  • +3

Tried to pay water bill at Post office got refused. Anywhere can pay online and get entitled for 10%?

    • Did you ask if you can pay with Zip? If so then that’s why.
You are just paying with Visa, that happens to be issued by Zip. You don’t need to ask the cashier anything, You just pay with Apple/Google Pay.

      • I also had no luck. It tapped OK but was declined, the lady said machine wants a credit card to work. I thought that was weird, because most bills specifically state no credit cards.

        • +2

Tried to tap 5 different kind of bills and won't work… all asked to swipe or insert card.. was using a Samsung S10… not sure if iPhone would be any different.

          • @lilkid28: So I went and grabbed an old IPhone Apple Pay . This one council bill works have to choose Visa Credit with fee, Visa debit without fee won't work. Other bills like water bill, another council rates, strata (DEFT), ATO - all didn't work.

            • @lilkid28: I am worry for you mate, so many bills!:)
seriously though, did you get instant 10% credit from Zip?

          • @lilkid28: I'm with you mate, same S10 and same decline. Zip was prepared:) oh well.

        • Zip Tap & Pay shows up as visa credit.
Did the lady said it wrongly machine wants a debit card to work?

          • +1

@HappilyEverAfter: I think the lady was just reading off what the machine told her, and she suggested I used a physical card instead haha.

            • @nfr: same thing happened to me,frustrating… i said it's a virtual card. i do not own a physical card to insert to.

              • +1

@SheepshearingReyrey: Had some issue when purchasing gift card at PO, went to another post office and had No issue for tap and pay by using same zip account/phone

I can only assume some post office doesn't accept tap/pay for zip

    • same i did self-checkout for electricity bill and before I chose my payment method it stated that credit cards don't let but i still tapped with zip card to try and it doesnt let so had to resort to my own debit card

    • depends on the bill, if the billers don't accept credit card payment at PO, on the computer screen it will show EFTPOS/Saving (staff at PO should be able to see this and show you) and when you Tap the phone to pay the terminal will ask you to insert the card. If that is the case it means you can't pay that bill with this promo.

  • So you can spend over $300 and still get the $30 credit, it will just be capped? Just want to be sure spending over $300 in a single transaction doesn't totally invalidate the credit. And you don't need a pin for Zip tap and go over $100?

    • No pin, spend as much as you want

  • +1

Can you use tap and pay at Woolworths?

  • Seeing conflicting reports of whether can make multiple transactions at same place? Eg buy $600 gc at coles, should proc the offer twice if split across 2 transactions?

    • Split it. $30 is the max PER TRANSACTION you can earn. Quick math means you can only spend $300 per transaction. You can redeem the $30 credit until your Zip balance is used up. (Unlimited). You can spend $300 at the same place more than once and earn the reward multiple times.

      • Lol why the downvote…?

    • Yes you can.

    • I received 5 X $30 bonus and redeemed from all Target purchases .

Quick tip is don't go 1 cent over the $300 spend because it will @# up your last $30 bonus .

      • How did it f up?

      • Looks like gc are the best bet. Wondering if i should load up on amazon gc for boxing day, or see if zip will do a straight 10% promo maxed at $50 like they did a few weeks ago

        • +1

Why wait for smth that might not happen and that is capped? If you buy the GC’s now you essentially have that deal with no time or spending restriction

        • Are amazon GC's stackable with cashback offers? I imagine that there will be 10%+ cashback for amazon around boxing day.

  • crappy attempt…Just went to woolies and managed to get 3 him cards 50$each but when I tried to use zippay for the first time ever and it didnt work. I have it installed in google pay and a card was linked to it (credit card). I tried twice abd then had to use my regular card on G pay. The rep was saying that zippay doesn't work at woolies. This is news to me.

    • I just used zippay in Woolies Kew. Worked beautifully !

      • Probably I didn't link my card properly. Did that now and will try my luck at jb

    • What rep? Woolies or zip?

      • woolies

    • Worked for me, it's under Google pay as my default card

      • when i.open the zippay app and go to Your Zip I can see that I can use 1000$ but when i click on the three dots and check 'change payment method' it didng have my CC from where I wanted the payments to come out from. Maybe I didnt link it properly. I did it now.

  • +2

Why are people asking for referral links, click the random button at first post, you'll get a referral there.

    • They changed it you need an email or phone number to send your referral now

      • +1

Yes, but why ask in the comment section. Directions are very clear.

    • Isnt the $15 offer for new users better? I mean we're obviously going to be spending at least $50

  • Why are people using BPAY to top up? I used the linked CC to pay extra payment, its instant, no need to wait a few days.

Also, anyone tried to use GPAY (BPAY at post office) to pay CC statement of the CC that is used to link to ZIP?

    • Some cc count it as cash advance. Most cash advance are crazy steep.

      • Yea ok, but should be ok if you pay it off the same day? e.g. CC pay extra payment to top up ZIP, bank saving account BPAY CC the same day

    • +1

With pending transaction it wont work

      • What won't work?

        • How do you add the CC so as to make a payment to clear the Zippay outstanding ?

          • @Maxdax: Its the same CC I used to open my ZIP account. Then in the ZIP app I did "Make extra repayments".

            • @justwii: Ok that’s weird - it didn’t ask me for any CC whilst opening the account ( I can’t remember tbh) - OR maybe there was an option to verify via PayPal / Facebook - I chose PayPal. So basically you can’t add the CC afterwards is it?

              • +1

@Maxdax: Hummm, sorry I couldn't remember too, but I didn't use Facebook nor PayPal. But do you have the option to "Make extra repayments" in the app? May be you can use PayPal to top up your ZIP?

              • +1

@Maxdax: Maybe you forgot. I did verify via PayPal. Then I was asked to add a credit card, I believe it was after and not before verification (if I remember correctly).

                • @apple0604: I remember now - it asked me to add a debit card which I did during account setup. Now I went into the menu and my debit card was listed there as primary payment. I selected add another card, it asked to add a debit card but I put in my CBA CC and it accepted. I made a test $20 payment to Zip which went through instantly and I have now removed my debit card - happy days

  • How many $30 can we get in a single sat?

    • As much as your heart desires and your credit limit allows.

  • How are people doing bigger transactions? My account says a limit of $1000 on Zip Pay. Is that the case for others too or am I doing something wrong. Planning to get some gift cards later today

    • +2

Get your missus/house mate/best mate/neighbour/neighbour's dog in on it.

  • Do Amazon ever give Cashback on Consoles?
If I can't find any at WW, Amazon at 10% sounds decent esp because you can get CB on Amazon GC.

I basically just want a PS5, next year when stock is available. JB at 19% off is much better, but HIM GC can only be used in-store or online at JB?

  • I don't think it will be in this format next week with the bill they are going to get today .
Even today I wouldn't bet it stays .
So everyone had better get on their bike :)

  • I'm planning on getting some Amazon gift cards. Anyone know if I can double dip with Amazon cashback?

    • Don't see why you can't. Zip&Tap is basically like card payment

      • Sorry, should've clarified. What I meant to ask is "Is Amazon cashback calculated from the total before or after applying gift cards?"

        • +1

It treats gift card payments like normal card payments. You can pay entirely in gift cards and it counts.

        • Amazon go is a payment method. You get full amount for cashback.

  • +1

Can't be stuffed getting the her him gift cards at woolies. Gotta do it multiple times and get stares from the attendent. Then when u use them it takes a long time to pay for big items.

Get the bunnings ones at Coles. How often can u get 10% off? Plus they scan and activate without staff. I think they even earn flybuy points compared to gift cards at woolies.

Stock up and buy aircons. Bunnings has good prices on mitsubishi heavy and there is a Cashback promo going on!

  • TL;DR

How do you purchase Woolworths giftcards at 5% discount in store (since this Zip Pay deal needs you to do in-store purchases)?

    • +1

You don't, that's the "normal" discount when you buy through a portal or cashback site.

There's no discounted Woolworths gc in store, you just effectively get 10% off by using zip to get your reward

      • Thanks, I thought so. It was confusing that OP included the usual 5% discount on WW GF

        • +1

Have updated the post with a link redirecting to the normal discount

  • Just imagining things

    1. Apply ZIP $1000, link CC (say $3000 credit)
    2. Do $1000 ZIP shopping on Sat (ZIP balance $0, reward $100)
    3. Use CC to top up ZIP $1000 (CC credit $2000, ZIP balance $1000)
    4. Do $1000 BPAY (GPAY tap at post office) with ZIP to pay CC bill on Sat (CC credit $3000, ZIP balance $0, reward $200)
    5. Repeat 3., 4.
    6. Profit!
    • This offer only works with tap & zip, not bpay.

      • I said BPAY by using GPAY tap at post office (like BPAY with your EFTPOS to pay for utility bill, but choose option VISA Debit)

        • It'll take a few days for Bpay to go through. You won't have an available balance in the meantime.

          Also, not worth the risk

        • if BPAY does work wouldn't this create an infinite loop? Pay cc bill with zip, pay zip bill with cc. Only you got to wait for it to settle and would only get 3% instead of 10%.

    • -1

RIP if your cc counts it as cash advance tho

      • +1

Thats why you do it on the same day. But even if its 25% interest, its just $250/365 ~ $0.68 a day but you got $100 reward.

      • not all, many cc count it as purchase transaction

      • I tested with $20. It didn’t give me a warning when I did bpay. Payment hasn’t settled yet. Yeah I should xfer $20 into the cc to nullify the advance if that is the case?

Shows as purchase on the transaction
