My car needs a new clutch apparently, only 60,000kms old. I've had a rental for a week already, looking for a cheaper option if any. Currently paying around $90/day I'm pretty sure. Located central coast/Newcastle region. Thanks

$90/day? thats a bit rich unless you are renting a prestige car.
Thanks for that, it roughly works out the same with the unlimited kms and reduced excess.
They're only in Sydney & Perth but 7 days small car hire, unlimited KM's, and $0 excess was quoted $308.
Thanks heaps for that. I rang my current rental and its only $19 dearer all up, but still have an excess. I'm happy to pay the $19 for the convenience of keeping this one for now. Thanks again.
The dealership/mechanic often gives you a loan car.
Unfortunately not, they're not required to provide one either :-(
Doesn't take that long to fit a new clutch, does it?
Gotta wait for the asbestos flowers to bloom before you can pick them to make the new clutch. Most cars is less than a day, or maybe a day and half at most.
Apparently they have to order in the parts. Ford dealership/service centre.
Is your car a Focus by any chance?
F to pay respects to Focus transmissions worldwide
Any decent mechanic can get it done in a day.
Once they have the parts, sure. Depending on the car it could take weeks to get new parts from overseas.
car next door
Just get it fixed quicker.
You can literally BUY a $500 pos off gumtree
I legit looked and there were only POS with no rego under $1000
You can negotiate, do not badmouth the $500 special
Buy a crappy car with rego and sell it when you're done
I've resigned to the fact of keeping the rental I have. Thanks everyone for your help

Confused you rented a car at 90 per day for a week (min 5 days) so thats 450 which would have gotten you a new clutch in your old car, and fixed mobile etc in 24 hrs?
Or is the car have other problems?
Mate in what world does $450 get you a clutch, installed? It's not 1993, Nollsy.
Just received a quote of $3800. This doesn't sound right so I'll be ringing them today to find out.
Did they wear a balaclava when they gave you the price?
