        2.5" version is powered by USB so you don't need to plug it into wall, worth paying if thats important to you

        You need external power for the 3.5”, 2.5” runs off just USB power. So 2.5” is far more portable

        Having the 2.5" and 3.5" version, the 3.5" version is noticeably faster in sustained writes/reads

        Normal 3.5" SATA HDD inside. Well it's one of the SMR hard drives.

        There's nothing soldered onto the hard drive. You can easily shuck it.

    Worth dollars more for the OW market leading returns process too (prior to shucking, not after)
