  • ~50m from splitter
    Fttc to fttp = 8k..

  • wow..

the FTTC pit is literally in front of my place, and its probably 7m to terminate at my telstra box

    $ 8,504 inc. GST

    • +1

Unfortunately, I don't think it is as simple as just extending the cable from the FTTC pit.

      Thanks Tony and Malcolm.

      • not much more and not $8k worth

  • Over $10k…wow this post should be in the Deals not the forum

  • Cost $ 9,200 inc. GST
    pukes

  • $16,486 FTTN -> FTTP
    (profanity).

  • $2600 for my parents place (FTTC)

    $17600 for my place (HFC).

  • $8668 for parents (FTTN) and $11226 for my place (FTTN) :/ If it was ~$5000 or less I'd jump on it but f that

    • Mine is $2,700 but I can get a full 100/40 connection now so don't see the point. It also might get done free down the track but the government.

Maybe if I could tax deduct it given I 100% WFH now?

      • FTTC is not getting a free upgrade to FTTP in the next 3 years. The choices are wait for NBN to rollout speed boosts to FTTC or pay the FTTP quote.

  • Parents on HFC with closest FTTC houses about 250 metres away (non straight line Follow road) (1 block away going over a 4 lane main road) came back with $39,021. That surprised me.

  • I found an article on Gizmodo from 2017 with most expensive upgrades FTTP upgrades. The pdf list is here, also linked in that article. $91,196 for the top place on the list! A lot of commenters in this post would easily make the list too so it's obviously dated. I wonder what's the highest quote now?

  • $ 3,871 inc. GST from FTTC

Currently get 95/10mbps night time peak

It's about 70m from the curb to our house (long driveway)

$13,3 for us. FTTN currently. 2 houses down is $12,8, and 2 down from that is $12,3.

Done a bunch more research but looks like it’s about 8k “base” cost +$10ish per meter of cable going by node location.

  • Looks like the quote form has been taken offline. Its been 'down' for maintenance for days now.

  • For those that have done this, what is there experience on how long it takes?

My quote is $3154 for FTTC to FTTP but as I run a small business from home, have next to no 4G backup and we've had an outage on average every 6 weeks I'm thinking seriously about this.

We're currently down. Happened last Friday night. Tech was scheduled to visit yesterday afternoon, didn't and then advised "no one home". Call BS and my security camera's back me up. Next appt now 16th May. WTF.

nbn field techs went on strike yesterday. That is a low quote for FTTP. It takes 2 to 3 months going by the installation discussions on whirlpool.

      • I'm actually really happy with the speed. But the reliability… not so much.

I'll have a look at the forum you've linked to.

        • Go back a few pages. Guys have posted the process in details with dates.

          • @Twix: Are you sure that's here not on Whirlpool? I read the whole thread and only saw one comment about someone actually getting it.

            • +1

@tonydav: Yeah I meant on whirlpool.

We took them up on the FTTC to FTTP offer for $3k

Ended up with 5 techs there for 8 hours each digging a 70m trench to lay new conduit and then another tech and their supervisor to do the internal cabling to a NTD and server room in a hallway closet. Good value.

Took about 8 weeks from payment to final install. Now just waiting on NBN to flick the TCP switch.

Thanks. Seriously considering it given it's likely to be 5 years at least until they upgrade it. If they ever do.

      • Haha funny, our quote was the same. The pit is literally in the front yard, 25M with existing conduit and even a draw wire in place, the guy said it was one of the easiest installs in ages. He also said the same as you, some people get lucky, pay $3k and need loads of work.

We had the guy come out today with the last of it, just waiting for them to flick the switch also. I was told by the tech that they quote a few weeks but he knows of places that only took a few days.
