Not bad with the 10% CB

  • This the Ultraboost killer?

    • +1

They're for different purposes. Definitely not running shoes…short distances will be ok but I couldn't run in them much at all.

If you're lifting in UB's then you're using the wrong shoe…like people trying to squat in Airmax 90's.

  • Yeah would like to know how these compare to Ultraboost for training in the gym.

  • +4

To answer @RoeJogan and @nightelves the Ultraboost are more aimed for running, walking and general gym workouts. The nanos is and always have aimed a circuit work and Crossfit. They have more balanced drop distribution which means both front and back of the shoes have similar amount of support where as the boost have better support at the back for running (to support heel strikers). Of you are after a pair of shoes for running, don't get the Nanos, I have owned Nanos since the Nano 3s and they are not comfortable for long distances. But if you want a comfy pair of shoes for general gym work and circuit training, they are good to go.

Perhaps more importantly/crucially - if you’re performing compound lifts in an Ultraboost or equivalent, you are really hindering yourself in so many ways. The Nano is much firmer and less cushioned, specifically for stability, floor feel and grip. If you see anyone squat in Ultraboosts, or you do it yourself, stop it happening immediately.

    • So i've recently gotten into F45 and wear UB's… so from what you are saying these would be better suited?

Any idea how they fit? i.e should i size up like I usually do in UB?

  • +3

For any lifting or circuit work you really shouldn’t be using ultraboost…

    • Shite. Thanks for letting me know. I've been using UB for lifting these days.

      • Do you not find them really wobbly underfoot once you load up a bit of weight? Really easy way to injure yourself but using the right shoe is also an easy way to get more weight on the bar.

        • Nah I’ve just been building up heavier weights slowly. What shoe would be good for stability and weight training?

          • @nightelves: The Nano X is a pretty good general weight training shoe. Generally speaking, you want a flat shoe that does not compress such as Converses. I use the Nano X for all my weight training except for squats where I use the Nike Romaleos 4.

  • I heard also a lot of people mentioned the Legacy Lifter is another good shoe for weight training as well. I might look at that also but do you think the Nano X is an all rounder compared with the Lifter?

    • +1

The Nano X is a better all rounder. As below Legacy Lifter has a raised heel to help elevate your heels when squatting. I've got Inov8's for squatting and that's about the only time they get worn. You definitely shouldn't be running in them, they're stiff as a board

      • Appreciate the feedback. Thanks

  • +1

Legacy Lifter has a raised heel so it's only really used for olympic lifts. You definitely couldn't use it as an all rounder. You can't go wrong with the Nano X as an all rounder. If you were doing some really heavy lifts such as squatting 160kg, dead lifting 200kg then the Nano X may not be stable enough but I'm not 1rpm so I haven't checked.

    • Appreciate the feedback. Thanks

      • No worries. I do notice they have a slight raised heel with hardly any give. I find they are better for pushing exercises such as OHP and bench and I haven't noticed them being worse for pulling exercises. I wouldn't try to run more than 1km in them.
