Don't think I've seen a deal on V4 lightstrips before, though prices definitely aren't as good as V3 yet.

JB Hi-Fi also has V4 on sale for $107, making it $90.95 if you've got gift cards from the Coles sale.

Differences between V3 are addition of Bluetooth, there's a cut end connector included, and a smaller 6-pin connector see comparison.

Haven't found any way to mix-and-match V3 and V4 lightstrips yet, Litcessory is working on it but it won't be available for another few months. They've also noted V4 seems more delicate:

One issue we noticed during product testing is that the solder contacts on the V4 lightstrip connectors are very delicate and easily prone to separation with excessive movement. We caution being very gentle during your project installations and take care to provide proper strain relief near the connector housings.

Another issue we noticed is that the resistors are very temperamental and prone to burnout in both the lightstrip and controller with any power fluctuations. We advise to connect and install our products only when the lightstrip has been powered off.

  • Are kids still crazy about lightstrips for their bedrooms, or has the fad passed?

      They’re crazy about Nanoleaf now.

Looks cool. I like how in the ads for them they use over $1,000 worth of starterpacks to make the big shapes the kids will want for their rooms.

  • Current V3 prices at my local Bunnings were $79 for the 2m, and $29 for the 1m extension. They didn't have any V4 kits on the shelf at all.

  • Lifx Z strip is also a good option. Recently available in 2m for AUD$59.86

    • damn thats a good price for this.

    • Lifx Z are troublesome

      • How so? I've got probably 30 of their bulbs, and only really had an issue in one fitting that seems to be janky.

What issues have you had with the Lifx Z strips?

Their warranty support is a bit average, but I've been happy with their hardware. I'd never pay full price for their gear though.

        • I had a strip die on me - from googling it seems they are very sensitive to having the LED strip end unplugged whilst the power plug is still connected, if that makes sense. Like easy to kinda fry their circuits.

The bulbs are awesome tho, no problems with them.

          • @theguyrules: Ouch! Thanks for the heads up.

Did it happen within the warranty period, and if so, what was their response?

I have a bunch of hue stuff, but the price of this compared to stuff like JESLED 5m strips…is crazy.
