not a bargain to me cos i bought it $2.75/kg during the weekend and i'm not gonna neg u anyway… :))

      • -8

Wow,i have racked more negs than the post for something that isn't a bargain.

        • +5

Perhaps if you explained your reason for negging instead of putting "i will" then people wouldn't have negged your comment. Example: I found bananas cheaper at x store.

Please read our guidelines on voting They are there for a reason. Ignoring those just dilutes the power that a negative vote has. People have less respect for the vote and start ignoring it, rather than it being a true warning.

As such others dont like you misusing your vote - and guess what they have told you… ouch!

$1.99 at Harris Farm but not sure is it expired?

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/57801

  • $1.50/kg at both fruit shops (1 next to Woolworths) on Smith St. Collingwood/Fitzroy [VIC]. The downward trend of prices on bananas and mangoes is great.

  • +1

$1.99/kg at Aldi, and my local veggie shop.

    • +1

$1.49 @ Aldi Auburn when I was in there on Monday, good quality ones but was medium sized

  • $1.59 at Minchinbury Fruit Market.

    $.99 at cocos

Saw some really mouldy ones selling for around that at my local Coles earlier this week… White fluffy mould growing at both ends…

I mentioned it to one of the staff who didn't seem surprised…

    • +1

      Coles ≠ Woolworths

      • +1

        you're right…. Coles > Woolworths :).

      • -1

exactly, same price at Coles so this is not a bargain you clown…

    • +3

Isn't the inside of it that matters the most? never judge a banana by its cover :P

      • the fact that it was mouldy shows you how fresh they are…

  • If this was an electrical item it would get negs galore.
    Please explain.

  • Not that price at any woolies near me - try doubling it……Are you all saying that some woolies in some states are cheaper than others - I am shocked and horri…

  • the harris farms in the same shopping complex as woolie has it for $1.99..

  • +3

This banana posting is getting too much.

Are they twin core or quad core. How much K per ml do these ones have and is this higher than, for example the Aldi ones.

Please state the facts like, size (length of fingers and thickness), evenness of ripening, absence of blemishes and defects and the arrangement of the clusters.

And are they Extra Class, ClassI, ClassII, Fair Trade, organic etc

Failure to do this will result in the post being banned and the Monkey posting being peeled mashed, choc coated and binned

    • I think I'll pass on a banana if it becomes this confusing! LOL

    • Are you sure you're discussing bananas there?

    • +1

if it wasn't for a mod, I would have said he has gone bananas (no personal attack and I haven't actually said it) :)

      • -1

        ;)

    • +1

Seriously that's a ridiculous demand. Bananas are not made in a cookie cutter process, so asking him to provide the length of fingers and thickness, or evenness of ripening, or blemishes is just absurd. Unless this is your version of comedy?

      • -1

Spot on. So one retailer buys lower quality grade bananas and sells at a lower price. The point being we cant tell nor can the poster. So why post something no one can tell if its a bargain, a forum post would be better.

Bit like saying hey I got a cheap mobile phone for $5. We dont know how to differentiate it from another, so we have no idea if its cheap or a bargain.

And yes it has a big element of humour in it, to show how ridiculous it is to post prices on fruit or vegies especially when they are in season.

My wife bought some nice bananas that had marks on the skin for 98c a kilo.. now is that a bargain compared to these.? I dont know. But they were cheap.

BTW those things I asked are measures that are used to grade bananas. And deals for memory cards are judged on their "grade" to determine value

        • +2

…too much time on someones hands?

        • Sorry but with mobile phones you CAN differentiate it from others based on specs, RRP, and availability. Your comparison of tech to bananas really falls flat on its face so Im just stumped as to why you bothered to even compare when we both clearly know that a) its not a fair comparison, and b) there's nothing really that comical about your post.

While fruit and veges are in season, bananas have been a different story since the cyclons affected produce therefore jacking up the price 5 fold.

It has been this price at my local woolies for the past week, while the fruit shop next door has them for around $2.50 a kilo. I'd say this is becoming the standard price at the moment.

  • +1

My Harris Farm has them for $1.49 - tightarse you'll have to shop around a bit more to keep that name! :)

  • $0.99 at Aldi Belconnen

  • When I worked at a Woolies last Friday, they were $2.19 a kilo.

  • +1

This is back to being the standard pricing finally. They've been as low as $1.50 at my local IGA and $1.99 at Harris farm in the past week alone.

  • jeez howabout mentioning a State even - if not this post should be …………reported

  • +2

$1.99 at fruit shop last. certainly not worth posting about.

i saw some shonky advertising at woolworths last time i went. it said "why pay $10 for a bbq chicken when you can pay $9.88". lol, next they will be advertising "why pay $3 for a loaf of bread when you can pay $2.99"

  • No deal

  • Tightarse, how long did you wait to get them at this price? Woolies try and price match a fruit shop nearby. If given a choice I would rather buy fruit/veggies at the local fruit shop and keep competition strong. I have a feeling one day we'll be banking, having our coffees, and getting haircuts all at Woolies.

  • +1

Was about to neg you until I realised it was ACTUAL bananas…not the chance to eat Gwen Stefani at Woolworths for $2.98 times my body weight in kilos…

  • Saw at Watervale Woolies store in VIC selling at $1.98 yesterday. Not sure about today.

  • $0.79 a kilo at Coles Greensborough this afternoon.

  • +1

    are you slow or something?

  • Over $2 a kilo isn't a bargain ATM

  • Harris Farm has been $1.99 for over a week now, this is 50 percent more.
