  • Are these ones less accurate than the body composition scales with the grips that you hold in your hands?

    • +1

Even those are going to be inaccurate when it comes to getting at the true values.

They're all equally okay tracking a trend.

      • Thanks, that makes sense :)

      • +1

From everything I've read and experienced pretty much any value other than weight is actually an extrapolation using other info you give like height, age & gender then using your current weight to do some fancy math for average ranges that they'd be likely to fall within.

As a result, the 'trend' will always end up following a very similar curvature to the weight trend (sometimes inverted), it's not a real measurement. If someone could show me otherwise I'd be pleased to be proven wrong.

Great price for the body plus scales, I've had mine for over 5 years they, are still going strong. That said, I'm not enjoying the metrics it's displaying at the moment, but that's hardly the fault the scale.

Edit : actually, for $58 I'd sooner go with the cheaper model. I've turned many of the features off of on my scale because I never use them.

  • Does the app need to be open for it to auto-add your data? Would like to wake up and hop on the scales and have it upload the data without first having to grab my phone.
Have read about other scales needing the app open and I figured that defeats the purpose as I could just record the weight myself if I'm already using my phone.

    • +1

Nah the app doesnt need to be open, it just syncs up when it connects

  • For people that are interested, saw the Body+ scale on sale at Costco Ringwood for $80 today.

    • Can someone grab a photo of this so I can use it to claim price protection? Would save me a drive to Costco

  • Do these connect to an Access point, or only direct to phone?
Would suck to have to disconnect my phone from the Household WiFi to use this.
(Like WiFi printers 10+ years ago)

    —- EDIT
Can confirm it connects to the AP, not the phone.
Setup of the device and connection to the AP is done via Bluetooth.
Also has a Bluetooth only option.

  • Cardio scale can be had cheaper from Good Guys: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584897

  • Poor quality, mine stopped measuring everything except weighting. I found on the web that many are experiencing similar issues and support offer me a discount coupon (10%) to be used in US only

  • Got the Cardio+, just FYI it works with the Fitbit app, just in case anyone was wondering!

  • Curious for anyone who has the withings body + composition, from what they say online the only true accurate stats is a post mortem, but compared to an inbody scan (gym ones where you hold the hands too) for body impedance, how "accurate" roughly are the Withings?

I hear different reviews on amazon etc where they say upon testing and scrutiny over the day they vary? And others who say it's great?

meanwhile the Renpho ones are a fraction of the price <$40 on amazon, with more reviews. I would hope you 'pay for what you get' but is this not the case with the Withings? Especially if they all just use formulas extrapolated is there any reason to get the Withings over the Renpho?

Also is it true this only weighs humans? So one cannot put their luggage on the WIthings body + composition as it won't sense just 'weight' of objects? Kind of wanted a weighing scale too…

any other alternatives with BIA abilities? Friend has fit tracker.. again not sure if these are all gimmicks. Mainly want to follow weigh, muscle mass, versus skeletal and more importantly fat %s : subcutaneous vs visceral. Don't really care about moisture/hydration %'s , don't think it means much.
