  • Nice that Samsung won, but going to wait for the Asus TF201 - if the price is <$500.

  • Nice, finally some competition. The price of Samsung tabs should decline.

I don't see how these are even worth ~$450-$500 considering Tegra 3 tablets are just around the corner.

  • +5

I may wait until the ipad 20 comes out

the 27 is going to kick its ass.

      • +3

I'll hold out for the 27S thanks

I don't need the extra fluhdibbity port, and I should be able to get by with the 12 Exabyte drive for my 7D holographic VR.

Nyer I'll keep my Asus Transform & keyboard for $80 less

I may wait until the price drop <$200

    • If it goes under $99, I might consider it.

Anyone who is considering buying this should wait until Friday after 4pm, because Samsung will be able to sell it officially in Australia. Depending on the local price point, this might make grey sellers drop their prices even further

Indeed. Great that Samsung can sell their tablets again, but I think it's a little bit too late. Similar spec'ed Iconia/Transformer/Xoom are much cheaper not to mention quad-core tablets are just around the corner.

This Bing Lee buyer guy has already had his hand on Transformer Prime so we might see it in the shops very soon now.

    • The good about the Samsung one is not just the spec, I used one before and it is so thin like iPad 2.

The new ASUS is powerful and thin enough, with tablet the most important is light and thin than spec.

    • That's a pretty exciting review scotty. Might be watching the price with great interest…

Shove that up your bum Apple!

    • +15

I don't think it's that kind of tablet.

      • Well with some common sense youd think so, But apple has none of this, just lots of money and lots of lawers doing the dirty. Appealing to the high court HAH yeah right!

      • No MattyD, it is! it is the Apple "Price" pain killer!

  • I am sorry but the Iconia and Transformer blow goats compared to the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

    • spec is not everything.

Did you check how thick the Iconia are?

      • Iconia has metal casing and full-size USB port. There're always compromises, somewhere.

  • waiting for the fire sale like the hp touchpad, the galaxy tab is "late" to the market (in technology timeframe), so they need some sort of incentive to encourage people to buy

      $99 $99 $99 $99 at HN ……. :-)

This is quite flimsy and poor build quality plus its grey imports. For the same price your better off with the Sony tablet S that was listed the other day that is local stock for $450. It has alot more features like universal IR remote and dlna

    • Don't neg him, he's right.

I own one & wish I didn't. It really feels extremely cheap, it warps when you hold it on an edge thanks to the plastic construction, & when it gets hot there's an "oil slick" which forms under the screen from the LCD panel touching the plastic screen.

      Don't waste your money.

      • Newton rings, they say it has been fixed. Sony tablet does not have gorilla glass and scratches up easily.

        • Just get yourself a screen protector from ebay for around $3 and you would not have any problem with the glass

      • Exactly what I wanted to say. You can easily break the Galaxy tab if you accidentally bend it too hard and the oil slick problem is quite bad. It's made of cheap plastic, has only a 3MP camera vs the Sony a 5MP, no DLNA and IR programable Universal IR remote and no SD slot. Tablet S uses Sony's Bravia engine and gives better contrast and picture clarity, it's also easy to hold.

Not cheap plastic though. Not easy to break either.

        • so you recommend a sony ? cos i was in JB the other day and i basically have only READ about tablets (lightly) but never really touched any…and i came across the sony and i…came…..yeah.

next to it was an asus and acer, those were pretty cool too but the sony just looked and felt better in terms of build and screen quality ! im looking for a tablet to buy by early next year so what's the recommendations? and preferably under 300$.

        • +2

@kirasuran, yes highly recommend you buy the Sony tablet S over the other tablets. It's packed with features like DLNA wireless video/photo/music streaming, programable IR remote, faster web browsing, more responsive touch screen, numerical keypads, easier to hold and many other tweaks Sony have added.

The Sony Tablet S was Voted Best of Innovations for Tablets, e-reader and netbooks category by Consumer Electronics Association for 2012:

  • There's a PayPal promo which has a $100 Kogan gift card for $49 at the moment. Max 3 cards can be bought, only 1 card can be used per checkout.

    http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/100-paypal-gift-card/

Sorry ignore that re this item it's only for Kogan branded products.

  • And Apple got another injunction, so still no direct Samsung import:(.

    • The High Court's decision prevails any though. So Samsung can sell their Tab here from 3/12.
