This model seems to be the go to recommendation for a lot of reviewers, but it's hella expensive. What would be an entry level, "good enough" model for someone who just want to try out first time if robot vacuum is the right solution for their house, without breaking the bank?
I've been doing research.
The problem with robot vacuums cheaper than the S5 Max is that they pinball around a room randomly. With the S5 Max level, they'll instead systematically vacuum a room. They also have features like virtual walls, mapping functions and you can send the vacuum to do one specific room.
I would not recommend going cheaper than a Roborock S4/S5. There's no point, i'd rather just get a cheap stick vacuum for that money and do it myself.

I've seen the S5 Max considered best in its price range/class. Not sure about that one, you'll have to search for reveiws and compare.
Robot vacs aren't great for carpets, i'd rather get a good stick vacuum for the price. They'll still do an acceptable job depending on how neat freak you are.
A few months ago, I got the S5 max as my first after some recommendations here. No regrets so far. Paid on card with price protection, even better and winning.
