Good price. still the best looking phone , this version comes with a very nice case as well

    • +8

yeah, I just need a Mclaren to match with that phone.

  • +10

For a 2019 phone, the Oneplus 7(T) Pro looks more 2020 than most phones released this year. Bought a 7Pro when they launched last year and it still performs phenomenally.

    • +7

1 year old flagships/high end phones are generally one of the smarter buying decisions you can make when it comes to purchasing a phone.

This is a great example. at $750 it destroys pretty much anything and everything at the moment. It's basically on par with current 2020 flagships for much, much less.

      • +1

Next year around this time probably will do the same on 8t pro

    • Well I bought my Oneplus 6T since Nov 2018, the phone still performs well with 82% battery capacity along with Gcam mod. It still takes better photos than my Gcam LG V50.

Back then there was eBay giftcard deal + I got given a visa card from work. I only paid $300 for the phone with the Visa card using that to get the discounted eBay giftcard

  • What's the difference between the Mclaren Edition versus the standard 7T Pro?

  • +2

That's a while to wait for it to ship!

  • +2

already purchased the standard 7t pro.. if i didn't, would hv snagged this..

  • +1

Solid deal. Just the thought of dealing with kogan for any warranty issues is concerning though

    • +1

eh, no different than dealing with any of the grey market stores posted on here. It's the risk you take and people accept that.

      • Yeah probably right, I've just had a couple bad experiences with them

        • +1

yeah people have had both good and bad experiences with tobydeals and the like too. Some despise them, some praise them.

        • I'm in the middle of a bad experience right now actually. It's now 2 weeks that I've been trying to work with their "customer service".

  • +3

Picked up the 7t pro from Kogan in early October. Fantastic phone. Smooth, fast and everything just works. Camera is fine too and does the job.

  • +6

Would be nice to have one of these next year when Danny Avocado joins the team…

  • How are the updates with this phone and is the camera on par with the best?

    • +1

There is a solid GCam dev community for OP phones. Look into Telegram groups for examples, https://t.me/gcamOP7.
Updates are up there with the best

  • Is that McLaren sports cars or MacLaren prams?

  • +1

How does this compare to Samsung S20 FE or Ultra Note 20?

    • Destroys the FE, especially with the issues that plague it. Note 20 ultra is better but it's much more expensive.

      • +1

Thanks. Will wait for Note 20 ultra to drop in price.

      • Is that the FE 5G?. I'm using it now, and almost 7wks later, it's a solid 9/10. The 4G was rubbish…😎

  • Could I order now and then easily cancel before Jan 5 if I changed my mind? I kinda really only need a Pixel 4a, but I do a lot of multiday hiking so the weather sealing would be a big benefit

    • +1

Please note that there is only a small window of time in which we can cancel an order.

The cancel order option will not be available if your order is already being processed for dispatch, as it is no longer able to be halted and will be handed over to the courier shortly.

  • FYI no wifi calling. Even activating it through *#800# doesn't work.

    • +2

I've got VoLTE and VoWiFi setup on a OnePlus 7T Pro on Telstra, no issues.

      • +1

without root?.. (i've got a big fear of bricking anything over.. the price of a standard brick)

  • Be careful though, no ip68 rating (they forgot to let the shark fin swims)

  • +1

fantastic deal. i might go ahead and purchase one now to upgrade.
curiously though - anyone have any insight as to why they'd pre-sale an old model, >1 month out?..

    • Probably because of old stock needing to grab it from China limited shipments

  • Ships on 5th of Jan??

    • That is what I thought and kinda kill the deal.

      • Only 6 weeks away… not that bad really.

  • Got 6T not giving up using it yet. I would love to upgrade but I already got the LG V50 earlier this year

  • +1

    Also no wireless charging..

    • +10

      Wireless charging is overrated.

      • +5

Never understood wireless charging, not like you can use the device while its charging.
Warp charge is at least 3 times faster @ 30W

        • I've bought into this magnetic cable ecosystem, it's exactly the same as the Volta 2.0 cable I've seen advertised, but bought on aliexpress under the brand Sikai. I'd say about $60-70 AUD has bought me 7 cables and about 25 USB-C and Micro USB tips to put into devices. I recently upped my count of spares becuase they can wear and break over time, especially if you drop the phone and it lands on the connector. Works with QC 3.0 and dash/warp charge, so they do just about anything bar the crazy new 60w+ standards. Also ace for apple carplay/android auto to just snap on in the car.

        • +1

Exactly Wireless is a gimmick and marketing bullcrap.

Just plug it in takes 2 Secs, charges 3 times faster than your Wireless charging that might actually overheat AND reduce the life of your phone. You have a huge coil inside too.

Wireless charging is not a must-have.

      • Agree, it takes 2 secs to plug in something

  • Gotta love OnePlus. I couldn't be happier with my 7T after a year

  • How do you guys think this compares to the Pixel 4a 5G or the Pixel 5?

    • +1

Spec & hardware wise the 7t pro is a much better overall package. With that being said some people really value having the pixel experience with stock android, class leading camera and local warranty etc. It really depends what you're looking for.

  • Pixels have Snapdragon 765G which is inferior to the Snapdragon 855+ on the 7T Pro.

  • Is this version 5G? It says it is on GSM Arena but nothing on Kogan.

    • No, this is the Global 4G model. The 7T Pro 5G McLaren is a different variant of this phone.

      • -1

yea I don't want a non 5G phone so I will give this a miss. V50 for $600 was the best purchase I had this year. If that was not around i would buy this instead.

For me, Oneplus 6T to 7T Pro isn't much of an upgrade costing $719

        • realistically still 2-3 years away from nationwide 5g coverage…plus most of us ozbargainers are not with big telcos like telstra or optus…

        • The McLaren Papaya Orange colour scheme matches the OzBargain theme, that's the main reason to get this phone :)

          • @fastnet: Not cheap @ $719 to be an Ozbargain themed member….

    • the 7T Pro 5G is US T-Mobile exclusive, afaik the 5G bands are not compatible in Oz

  • How long is the warranty? Had a look at that customer charter stuff, would i be correct in assuming its 6 months warranty from kogan? Cheers

    • +1

Based on their minimum warranty policy for products over $500 (T&Cs and ACL guarantees also apply),

      • Under 3 months: Replacement, refund of the original purchase price or the repair of the product.
      • 3 months - 2 years: Repair, If repair is not possible a replacement can be requested.
  • Deciding between this phone and the Oppo Find X2 Pro at $1068.32. Which is the better buy?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584223

    • +2

This one. Oppo OS is crap compare to Oxygen. Also community on Oneplus much better.

    • +1

Oppo find x2 pro has 120hz, 38min 100% charge and the OS i find no faults + 2 yr warranty. Id go with oppo esp since ud get it by friday. This 1 after new years

    • +1

Also Oppo will drop in price further in 4 months. Where as Mclaren will not be available this is my prediction

      • Thanks, just made the purchase!

  • +1

    Thanks op!
Btw-anyone else that purchased this still waiting on order confirmation? Got notified immediately after purchase yet no email yet

  • "Presale - Ships on 5th Jan"
    kills the deal for me.

  • It's Sold Out now. Wow, did not expect this from a 2019 'flagship killer' model

    • Why? Pretty much unbeatable hardware/spec wise at this price. There hasn't been a huge shift in tech in the past 12 months or anything. Any manufacturer could've released this in 2020 too. It's not really missing anything.

      • Exactly, I've played with a lot of phones and the 7T Pro is a step above the rest. I have a Note 20 Ultra and the 7T Pro feels just as fast or even faster.

        • i think frkino is, as myself, referring to the delay in shipping, not the hardware itself.

  • So they sent the free SIM which I won't use but did anyone else see they seem to be including their 18W Wall Charger?
Not in the order confirmation; only in the SIM shipment confirmation email

The following items have now been shipped:
Kogan Mobile SIM - Prepaid Starter Pack

Other items in this order shipped separately:
1x OnePlus 7T Pro (12GB RAM, 256GB, McLaren Edition) - Global Model Yet to ship
1x Kogan 18W USB Wall Charger with Quick Charge QC 3.0 Yet to ship

    • Its a grey market device so it comes with a Euro or similar plug. The wall charger (which I could not get to quick charge at all) is the replacement charging device.

      • Previously, they just sent a wall adaptor to the AU plug
Anyway, will wait and see what turns up

    • +1

I ordered one from the previous Kogan deal for the regular 7T Pro and it came with a Kogan 18W QC 3 charger

  • Anyone else have order confirmed and then not fullfilled?
Never got confirmation email, chased it up, to now eventually be advised —
“.. It looks like this payment had unfortunately failed and the funds should be appearing back in your account within the next few business days if they are not already.”

Have sent all information supporting funds were taken at the time and still showing as a debit on my card etc.
Wondering if my card security (sms to confirm payment at time of) has muffed their system?

Person im dealing with via customer service is nice and helpful so crossing fingers

    • Probably unrelated but I'm having a similar issue with dell at the moment. Paid via paypal though.

Anyway, bought a laptop. No email confirmation. No order shown on my dell account. Just the money taken out of my paypal.

      • Interesting - least you went via PayPal so can dispute follow up as needed. Maybe suppliers systems were just having patchy moments with all the BF/CM traffic. Hope you got it sussed out now?

        • I had the same suspicions. Not sorted unfortunately. Still zero trace and dell support said they can't use paypal transaction ID's to reference orders. There's no info of it on their side haha. I'll be starting a paypal dispute today to get the money back. Not concerned since I know I'll get my money back, just disappointed really. The laptop was at a really good price.

edit: also just read your follow up. Funny that kogan has better support than dell? Who would've thought lol

  • +1

Kogan Customer Service was excellent! They went back and forth for me and my order has been confirmed and all relevant emails sent to me and showing in my Kogan account. Really impressed with how helpful the person was and really took their time to look into it. The fact that it all came good and they were able to sort it out out a :) onto my dial!
Now just need to wait till January shipping etc. super excited to get this beast in hand

    • +1

Did they cancel your order? Zero replies from kogan

      • Yep. Based on what my account shows - after checking it after reading your guys post - yes mine is showing as cancelled 😞 i emailed them and am yet to have any reply

  • +1

I ordered this and just saw online thay the order is being cancelled. So sad it was a Christmas present. No notice or email whatsoever. Come on kogan

    • +1

ditto here - no email either my end

    • +1

ditto here - no email either my end
question @Huozhe1990 in your kogan account, on the bottom left hand side of the order page - scroll down to the left & did you notice a box that said 'cancellation requested'? additionally as when you hover over it it; implies that you [in this case me] was the one that initiated/requested the cancellation? o_O

  • +3

Got email confirming my order has been cancelled

    • +1

least you got an email. i screen capped that they had emailed you - hopefully will aid our cases. as if we all contact them asking how an item is unable to be supplied and orders cancelled everywhere and it magically appears again for sale?! like you said = ACCC time

    • +2

I got the same email. I thought they could not get the OnePlus 7T Pro (12GB RAM, 256GB, McLaren Edition). Now I found out that they can still get the phone, and also selling the same phone for A$999. A$250 more. Very disappointing. How can I lodge this case with ACCC?

      • +2

Says you need to contact the seller first…
Let's see what BS excuse they come back with

Then if you are unhappy with their response, then you can lodge a complaint with ACCC

  • +1

Just went into my account and mine is also canceled!? Wth?! Device is available on website still saying presale but back to 999+shipping!?
Talk about roller coaster of emotions :/

    • +3

wow very dodgy if it's still available on the website for pre-sale at $250 more…
Logged a ticket with them asking to explain how they can still be selling when they supposedly can't supply it… If not, ACCC

      • +1

mega dodge! has same terms as when the OG sale went up i.e. presale device that ships 5Jan21

yes i did same - went back to email thread [from my OP comment] to see what is what. i also mentioned the price change and back on sale

        • +2

I saved a screenshot with today's date/time in preparation for ACCC

          • +1

@mightyhawks23: let's hope it doesn't get to that - yet i have just gone through and completed same
