I was told the same in Sunglass Hut when I asked. I did see them discounted once if you bought 2 pairs in Incheon Airport Duty Free (1/3 off, 40% off?) 3 years ago . I was going to buy 2 pairs anyways, so it worked out well.

Many styles have been on sale at Sunglass Hut for quite some time and looks like all are on sale now.
I was looking for a pair as my lens were damaged badly while the frame was in a perfect condition. I ended up sending them for repair (new lens) and it costed $142 + postage to send. Brand new ones were $379. Got them back in less than a week and they even gave me a new pouch. Pretty happy with the service. Might grab another pair.
I had my lens crack on Saturday. I was even more shattered. I was wondering if repair is a thing. Definitely sounds like the way to go!

2 were repaired for free. And I paid $142 for a new pair since they couldn't replace the original lense.
Definitely send it back to MJ Aus, they've got the best customer service I find. Very similar to Costco.
I've sent back 2 paris.
One was replaced because they didn't have the same model in stock and the other pair I had to pay for the lens because it was my fault.
Send to MJ. I found out about the repair while searching for a new deal lol It's $130 + $12 procesing fee. Think it used to be $90-$100.
Thought the lens were most expensive but it is the frame!

For those unaware, Maui-Jim are one of the only independent sunglass companies. Almost every other brand are made by one company.
Luxottica. They have a monopoly on eyewear and own Sunglass Hut and OPSM stores too, among others.
I guess asking them to price their stock independently was too much.
Just like Luxottica, Maui-Jim is extremely expensive mass produced plastic.
Definitely an argument for that. But I never regretted buying my pair I got for $170, they are the best sunglasses I've ever had by a big margin

Ordered the MJ261s, half price down to $149 and had an extra $10 off for my birthday. Probably didn't need them, but yeah sales on Maui Jim are super rare let alone 50% off.

you bought Maui Jim non-polarised ? All MJ sunglasses are polarised.
Hmmm, not the end of the world, I picked up some that said "Lens Technology: Gradient" as typically it means the bottom of them aren't polarised so you can read digital displays, but the top half is polarised for the road.
EDIT: Still bimodal polarised after all, oh well, still very good for the price.

What makes Maui-Jim glasses so special? Are there lenses really that much better?
It is better yes. I don't know exactly how they do it but the colour is more vibrant and the "picture" that our eyes see is just clearer. I've got polarised RayBan and they were no where near as good as MJ. Plus the after sale service is amazing.

The glasses I looked at were 2017 and 2018 years models, so these would have been old stock. Likely they had a few, and we ozbargained them.

Mine too, I ordered 2 pairs both delayed, but one has been shipped. tracking shows its coming from China direct. Who would have thought from Myer.

I've got about 10 pairs of MJ's.
I find the glasses with the glass lens are a bit too heavy. It kept digging into the bridge of my nose.
I prefer the MJ sport range, they're cheaper and feels so comfortable cause it's soooo light.

@tomleonhart: I fish alot and find MJ's the best at cutting out the glare. Especially the rose lens.
Maybe a dumb qn but: what do I do if i need prescription lenses? Do i buy these then send them over to Maui? Or does myer do them?
you need to send/bring them to an optometrist
FWIW, I asked my optometrist if they could fit lenses to my MJs and they said they weren't able to do it. It's also important to note that you would no longer have genuine MJ lenses any more, it would be whatever lens their supplier has.
Is it possible to get it done with MJ lenses? Or is there anywhere that does that for you when you buy the sunglasses maybe?
