Haven't seen this deal in the summer time in a while, so I thought I might upload it.

$134 Open Water Diver certification •10 extra shore dives
•DVD of dive to take home
•Air refill card (10 tanks)
•Lifetime membership to Sydney Dive Club
•$200 voucher for Dive Trek store

•Qualified divers can use $134 option to do an Advanced course for no extra charge
•All equipment included

I think the $200 voucher is pretty much useless, but I thought it might be worth it just for the certificate.

  • nationwide?

  • Probably should state in the heading this is in Sydney.

The groupon page also refers you to the company's website for further terms and conditions - but the link doesn't work and no other reference to the deal on their site. I'm a bit sceptical of the terms that would relate to the $200 voucher.

Edit: Also says - "Subject to availability".

  • +1

They have to say "Subject to availability" otherwise you could call up and say "I want to do it this saturday" and if they tell you they are fully booked…you could try and claim a refund. Therefore…bookings are always subject to availability.

    • I accept that - but it seems to be a common complaint with these things as to the scope or definition of "availability". Read all the problems with Scoupon concerning availability if you are unaware of what I mean. Non availability is fine so long as it is applied fairly and you aren't treated as second class lepers because you take up the promotion offered by the business.

The link on groupon for the promotion link at divetrek has been removed (didn't work anyway). So where does one find the "further terms and conditions" relating to this promotion??

  • Edited.

I don't think there is any dive centres that operate nation wide.

  • Great price and these make awesome xmas presents too if you want to give something different.

    • The $39 dive is great value too.

  • +2

Just like to point out that this is for an 'AUSI' certification. In spite of what they suggest, this is not accepted globally, and is largely worthless outside of Australia. If you want to do all your diving here, then that is fine, but if you take this anywhere else, they are unlikely to accept it.

    Great price though.

    • was about to write the same thing.

because this is not PADI, or SSI, it means that you will not be hire to equiptment or dive with anyone else in the world except for this company.

I would stay clear from the scuba

  • Be warned: there is no contact information on their website (no office, no phone…)
Also, if too many people buy this, there is a good chance you have to wait many months to do your course.
Would not call this an "ideal xmas gift" :)

ps: I wanted to buy this then because of the above reasons I've decided to go with a full price but at least available course :)

  • If you want to learn Diving first make sure you come back safe… I did mine at St George underwater for $199 which is not bad at all. Speak to Kel there he will take care of you (south Sydney)
