That's a helluva price. Is it made of gold or platinum?

    • I don't understand how some of these "top end" products are priced. Sure, they're actually sensible when you look at it outside the modern consumerist perspective where prices are arguably criminally low, but with the availability of so much cheap stuff they are just so hard to justify.

I have gone through a number of food processors, up to the high $300s in cost (not including Vitamix which I have too but that's not really the same) yet my fave to date is a sub $100 Sunbeam. It's faster than the $300+ ones, chops and grinds better, it's just a bit noisier and doesn't look as funky.

I have gone through a number of food processors, up to the high $300s in cost

This is why people buy the high end ones, if you've gone through a "number of processors" up to $400 then you could have just bought this one to begin with, and have it last 30years AND had a top quality product.

I doubt your Sunbeam will last nearly as long as this one, so you'll be up for another $100 when it does, and if they don't make your exact one anymore you are heading for another crap-shot on whether you budget purchase will be any good.

If you can't afford to blow $800 on a food processor that is totally understandable, but pretending like the high-end, high-quality options aren't attractive options to people with the money is a bit silly.

If you can't afford… people with the money

The level of douchebaggery here is off the richter. You have no idea what most people here can or cannot afford.
