15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

        • Wondering the same thing, have anyone done this?

          • @llllllllllllll: Yep… Have done this before.

            • @Tems: Nice hahaha I will be sure to do…

              • @trippyskippy: The recent comments show tcn has updated its terms and now might not be possible to convert hin/her cards to jb hi fi. Additionally u can just use a max of $500 worth tcn cards in a single transaction at jb. Just be aware of the new terms prior to your purchase mate.

        • +1

you exchange any of the TCN cards you bought with a retailer's gift card through their system. Eg I bought the Online, clicked two buttons, redeemed for eBay, got a gift card code immediately to put into ebay cart. I assume the procedure is pretty much the same for JB and others, you get a barcode to scan or code to apply. Not sure if I misinterpreted your question though..?

          • @sakurakiks: So you have to do the conversion before heading to JB? E.g. you can't bring the Him giftcard directly to JB?

Also when doing the conversion, do they let you convert to higher value in less qty? E.g. exchange 5 x $100 for 1 x $500?

            Thank you.

            • @llllllllllllll: In ebay's case, they are online only so I doubt they would accept anything other than their own gift card/code and you can only enter the validated code at checkout. Haven't had experience with physical cards or bringing digital in store so hopefully someone else can answer that for you.

I didn't get an option to change the values, but then again the amounts remain in your ebay account until spent so it doesn't matter, so that's a pretty bad example and doesn't really help you ! I assume you can't change as you made the initial choice to buy 1x500 instead of 5x100.

Sorry, someone else pls help, specifically regarding JB cards!

              • @sakurakiks: I can confirmed you can exchange to jb gift card without any problem. I’ve done it several time, no issue, across brisbane cbd no one asked

            • @llllllllllllll: Yes did this with the TCN Home cards, converted 19x100 to a single 1900 JB hi-fi gift card instore …

Just be prepared to explain you aren't attempting to pay your ATO bill….

              • @cycloneaussie: You can convert the TCN gift cards to JB-gift cards (digital) using the TCN website.

                Questions:

                1. if you buy TCN gift cards (physical) I assume they get posted to you?

                2. The TCN cards can only be used in-store?

                3. You have to convert TCN cards to the retailer you want if you want to do online?

                • @MuddyClear: The physical cards can only be used in store for JB.. and they still allow you to buy JB gift cards - hit or miss though depending on the cashier

  • So can you buy gift cards, walk out of the store and repeat?

    • Was wondering the same thing. Or can you scan 5 cards in one transaction, pay and then scan another 5 etc?

      • Pretty sure store staff need to sign off on gc purchase?

    • +2

Was just thinking this. Buy 5 at my local Coles, drive up to the centre that has Coles and JBHifi, buy another 4 walk across to JBHifi and walk out with an iPad Air for 15% off

      • Or you could buy the latest 11" ipad pro on ebay @ 15% off and pay with the discounted ebay cards from Woolworths

        • Where can I get this ebay gift card at woolies? Is it just the 5% off using wish egift cards to buy the physical ebay one?

        • What discounted ebay cards from woolies? Is this a current deal?

  • Has anyone ever used The Restaurant gift card,

Do these generally just work at majority of Restaurants and cafes, would like to know and save $15 on coffee and eating out cheers.

    • +3

I have used these in a few local restaurants and they work fine. Just added to my google pay and paid like a normal card.

      • Thanks Tems,

Website says it is treated as EFTPOS so i wont get surcharged for Mastercard/Visa/Amex is that correct?

        • Correct. No surcharge.

          • @dreamykitten: Thank you

            • @smeng: Sorry I stand corrected. It depends on the restaurant. I just paid using the restaurant card and I got hit with a surcharge, just as you would if you were to pay by normal EFTPOS. But I also used it at other restaurants that didn’t have a surcharge.

  • What is best % off for Coles giftcards? I want to prepare for purchasing when this offer goes live.

    Thanks.

    • +1

I don't think you can buy gc from another gc any longer

      • +1

        You can still at coles.

        • They stopped me using coles e-gift cards for Bunnings gift cards late last year/early this year.

          Has it changed?

          • @GLO: Its basically on the staffs discretion. Mostly they dont care… But if someone does they can stop u. But the system still allows unlike wooly where the system stops u. I have purchased various gcs at coles using egiftcards (never bunnings though…but dont think it would be any different)

  • Nice one! thanks for the heads up! :)

  • +1

do these giftcard have an expiration date?

  • So is there a way to see what each of these gift cards cover (ie. Stores you can redeem at)?

Has anyone got a list they can post.

    XD

  • I think you can resell the card for 10% off later?

It reminds me of the nightmare buying the formula milk for my kids, probably need to get into Coles very early in the morning.

  • Any Coles employees here that can advice the best way to go about using physical gift cards to pay for these cards?
Am I better to self check out or at a register?
Arm I going to be able to say buy an average shop of $75 groceries and 5x $100 cards at sale price and comfortably use a single 500 gift card?

  • +1

I may possibly be the last person on the planet to figure this out but I discovered you can pay for your Disney+ subscription through Google Play and my subscription is about to run out, so perfect timing! Assuming it also works for any other in-app subscriptions too. I always wondered who on Earth would need a $50 or $100 Google Play gift card but I finally saw the light. Shame Netflix doesn't allow you to do it but the Netflix gift cards do go on sale from time to time.

    • I also pay my Netflix - Disney + using Itunes gift cards (bought at 20% discount).

I think you can no longer signup for Netflix through Apple TV though.

    • Neat, good tip.

    • How do use Google? On the website I only see PayPal or Card?

  • Can confirm you can exchange TCN’s card that has JB logo direct to JB’s own GC, in my experience the physical cards. I’ve got 1k+ sitting around for when I need to buy smth from doing that. Didnt know they go higher than ~10% (from Woolies’ bonus points promos now and then)

    • Do you know if you can consolidate it to a higher amount? E.g. 5 x $100 for 1 x $500?

      • +1

Indeed. Exactly what I did, so instead of carrying several $100 TCN GCs, You just carry a few $500 JB GC.
I had 15x $100 TCN GC, which I then convert to 3x $500 JB GC over the counter, though I had to do $500 at each time/day because generally they are quite busy and didnt wanna take up other customer’s time/space. Or just do it at different JB stores when you go grocery shopping or smth, on the way.

        • +2

You can consolidate them online. Just order a $500 gift card and enter in the 5 x $100 gift cards for payment. The new $500 card gets emailed shortly afterwards.

          • +1

@JohnSy: Can you do this even though the Him card says only for use in store?

            • +4

              @ronburgundy11:

              1. You order a HIM card, and you get emailed a code from TCN for the HIM card.
2 Then you click on the link and redeem this code for JBhifi card using the TCN website (online usage). You then get sent a JB hifi egift card emailed to you. The original HIM card has been used up in the process.

              Its a two step process.

              • @JohnSy: Nice one, thanks mate.

              • +3

@JohnSy: However this promotion is only for physical gift cards right? If so, can you buy JB electronic gift cards (to be emailed to you) on JB’s website with physical TCN gift cards so you can use the JB electronic gift cards online?

Basically I just want to have JB gift cards that I can use online as I’m not near a JB.

              • @JohnSy: Do you have the link? I can’t find on TCN website. Thanks

              • -1

@JohnSy: Sorry, my comment above only applies to the egift card version of the HIM card. However, since the coles offer is for physical cards this process does not apply in this case.

        • So we just simply bring 5x$100 tcn gc and swap with 1x$500 gc at jb hifi with no hassle ?

      • +1

I think maybe you can do this through the tcn online store if you've got a tcn digital card. However it looks like this promo you can't exchange the physical cards for a JB egiftcard.

  • Can you buy custom order Macs at JB when they are on sale? I was thinking I could choose what model of MacBook Air I wanted (but I want 16GB so it would have to be a CTO one) then buy the right value in discounted "For Him" gift cards and buy at the 10% off sale price from JB. Only thing I don't know is whether JB can order in custom Macs and whether they apply their sale to them or whether they're always normal price…

    • +1

I don’t think jbhifi offers cto, but u can buy some of these gc and resell them at 10% after the party. The profit could earn you a cto MacBook Air easily

    • You would have to actually ask in-store at JB for this. If it's a special order item (e.g. adding extra RAM) then, no, they don't discount those. If it's just a matter of procuring another regular model they don't have in stock then possibly will work; the most likely scenario is they get a transfer from another store.

    • I believe you can CTO in-store at JB HiFi, however, CTOs seem to always be excluded from their Apple sale events.

  • Anyone have thoughts on $750 worth of JB gift cards now for 15% off a PS5 RRP? Probably won't be until 2021 but it aligns well with the 12-month PS plus deal at the moment.

  • +1

Ok so I just talked with a customer representative from JB-Hifi and apparently the only accept ONE Him/Her gift card per transaction?? I'm really confused right now as this goes against all of the previous comments. Maybe the representative got the wrong information or he misunderstood my question idk???

    • +2

Doesn’t make sense, you can redeem / buy JB gift cards with TCN gift cards. There’s no limit on the number of JB gift cards (as far as I know, both online or in store) you can use in one transaction. In fact I did just that last week, I redeemed 8 TCN electronic gift cards as JB electronic gift cards and used them online all in one transaction.

      • Do you have the link where you can swap and consolidate the giftcards? I’m wondering if there is any differences between TCN physical card and TCN e-giftcard.

        • +1

This is for the Home card because for some reason only the Home card lets you redeem JB gift cards online and in store.

The Home card isn’t in the Coles promotion.

Doesn’t hurt to try? Maybe it works.

          https://cms.thecardnetwork.com.au/swapform/46dbca821f7eee99c…

          • @dreamykitten: As the how to use is different per card type. Based on whay their website says, I’d think that you can’t actually convert Him card to JB egiftcard.

From the instruction, it looks like an EFTPOS giftcard, I can’t see why you can’t use it as an EFTPOS giftcard at JB.

            • @llllllllllllll: You can. I was talking more about if you want to use JB electronic gift cards on their website.

I think to be clear, if you wanna use gift cards in store, it doesn’t matter if you have TCN or JB gift cards. I think you can just pay in store with physical TCN gift cards.

It’s when you wanna buy online on JB, that’s when you can’t pay with TCN gift cards.

          • @dreamykitten: I tried using this link with an old HIM card but it didn't work. Annoying

    • +1

They don't accept any Him/Her cards - you have to change them to JB ones on the TCN site first

I've bought a $2k TV and an $1850 iPhone 12 Pro Max this way already in the last few weeks :)

      • Where can I change to JB ones? Do you have the link? I can’t find on TCN website. Thanks

  • Would these steps work?

    1. Buy a bunch of $100 teen cards.
    2. Exchange them for $50 JB Hi-fi vouchers here (it says active but that link is from the teen tcn page).
    3. Buy $500 JB Hi-fi gift cards on the JB Hi-fi website and pay with the $50 JB Hi-fi vouchers.

Basically, is it possible to end up with $500 JB Hi-fi gift cards without needing to exchange the cards in person?

    • Yes, that's how I did it with the 10% off AGL deal. Even if you accidentally redeemed for an in-store card, it's just an eftpos card where you can use it to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards directly on their website.

    • +3

What's the reason for doing this? Why not just take your bunch of teen cards to JB?

      • +2

in case JB Hi-Fi stops being a partner retailer

  • Is there any hidden fee/cost for the card itself? Like what eVISA gift card has - $7.95 per card.

Wondering if you buy 10x of $100 of this GC and would it charge you for $79.5 (for example) for the total card fees.

    Any idea?

    • +1

No, only CASH cards have fee.

    • +1

      No.

  • First time I'll be attempting to buy gift cards, quick question.

After purchasing a His/Her/Teen card, how would I convert this to JB Hi Fi vouchers.

Assuming I bought 5 His cards totalling $500, what would the process be to convert it from a TCN card to a $500 Jb Hi fi voucher? Thanks all!

    • I'm hoping to do the exact same. Haven't had any TCN gift cards before so not sure how to go about it either. I don't have a nearby JBHIFI so was hoping I could transfer to a JB E-gift voucher that can be used online. I don't know why there isn't that option when I was browsing the TCN site but people have posted links for the swap process.

Does the swap only work if you buy them online from the TCN website? Does it only work for certain cards like 'Home' but not the 'Him' card? I was hoping to get them from coles but the process seems confusing.

  • Can anybody confirm if we can use multiple The Him/Her/Whoever gift cards in one transaction at JB Hi fi? Looking to buy an apple watch there.
    Thanks!

    • +1

Online you use the Him/Her card portal to buy JB HiFi gift eCards unto $100.00.
Once received go to JB HIFI online store and purchase a $500 or whatever value needed. Then pay for the higher value card with the JB HIFI eCards from the TCN website.

I did this to purchase my recent Apple iPhone 12 Pro, and am planning to do the same for a watch and new MacBook Pro M1 for my partner - in the next sale.

There is a comprehensive description on one of the earlier (circa 2018) OzBargain posts.

      • +2

Did someone say the process is only for Home card? Didn't want to end up a bunch of Him cards at home, if I can't buy one JB Hifi eGift card using those hime Cards from Coles.

        • Yeah someone said only home cards

          Can someone please confirm?

        • Yeah there is no option to convert the Him card online, that option shows up when you go to the Home card section.

          • @harrypits: In that case, does anyone know if we can convert the 'Him cards in person at a bricks and mortar JBHIFI? Eg, hand over 5 X $100 him cards for one $500 JBHIFI gift card that can be used online?

    • Can you use multiple gift cards in store? Is there a maximum amount they will allow you to use?

      • Yeah I want to make a purchase in store too… Is the method above only for online purchases?
