[VIC] IKEA Tradfri E27 1000lm Dimmable LED Smart Bulbs $9 @ IKEA Richmond

90

Ikea have launched a new, pricer, range of smart bulbs than can do shades of white so this 2700K version is on run-out for $9. Great buy at this price, I find them more useful in older houses with just one light per room due to the 1000 lumen output vs standard hue's 806 lumen.

  • Same price at IKEA Tempe.

This was their sale price for the past week, as part of their Click Frenzy sale

    • Ah I thought I checked the click frenzy sale as I've been moving and on the hunt for bulbs, but maybe I missed it. Ta for the heads up!

You won't notice any difference between 806 and 1000 lumen unless side-by-side. We perceive brightness on a log scale, and that's too close.

Ikea also have a bulb the same size, lumens and colour as the old Hue bulbs, costs only $15 including a zigbee rocker switch:

These old 1000 lumen models are heavy - potted electronics inside. Newer ones would be cheaper to make.
I can see them dropping the warm-white models, as the extra LED SMDs needed for CCT are so cheap.

I find them more useful in older houses with just one light per room

You need the Hyby - only $15 and takes 2x E27:

  • do these need a hub for basic on/off operation?

    • +1

No, you can pair them to just the ikea tradfri dimmer switches without the hub.
They also kind of work with just by power on/off but from memory there's a bit of a delay. You will obviously also lost the dimming functions.

Bought two of these last week, they've integrated well with the Phillips Hue V1 bridge using the Hue Essentials app. No IKEA bridge needed.

Very bright and warm enough for my preference.

  • What’s the new range they’re selling?

  • Will these integrate with an Echo?

    • From what I gather only if it has the zigbee hub installed such as the echo show 2nd gen. Otherwise they'll require the ikea gateway or dimmer etc. I haven't tried it yet so if anyone has, please correct me if I'm wrong on this

    • Echo Plus, and the new 4th gen Echo also have Zigbee.
