I went for a similar deal a while ago. I've used PIA, Nord, Surfshark and a bunch more I can't remember. Surfshark has performed best for me, in terms of speed and overall stability. This is a good deal!

  • I was told something very strange by a Surfshark customer service person last week. I assume she knew what she was talking about. I tried to extend my current subscription by 12 months with a discount offer that came up when was checking my account. That transaction bombed. Checked it out. Debit card in account details expired. Could not figure out how to put new debit card details in. Told by Surfshark that I could not change debit card details. So I ask if I should sign up as a new customer when subscription expires - affirmative.

I wanted to do that all along because the new customer deals are so good but wasn't going to because I felt guilty and I want the business to survive. Now I can guilt free. Is that a weird way to run a business or what? I can't work it out.

    • Did she help you make a new account. maybe she was collecting commission. Like everytime i have an issie with a online order on dell the support person cancels my order and puts a new one in under his name.

  • I might bite on that one, since Nordvpn moved to USA or when they got intrusions in their servers, I slightly lost trust in them

    • IF you're gonna be that pedantic, then maybe you should also look into cascading…..the more the better…or create your own, that way you 100% trust it since you own it yourself….or just not use the internet….

      • For a service that you can substitute, why would you keep on using the one that has shown flaws? I don’t plan to do anything highly illegal but I worry about Big Data, who knows if in the future you’d get caught because you torrented britney spears 90 years anniversary album while you travel overseas. In china you can get banned from entry by making a tweet so is it so far fetched to want to secure what you are doing online?

I mean why would I go pay a service if in the end everyone can access my logs making as I have no VPN? If you like wasting your money, go ahead.

        • Make your own VPN service? Since you own it you have the logs and you can delete them automatically so even you dont know what you've been doing on your own servers….

          • @Zachary: I don't know if you play stupid or you really are, in any case you are doing it well.

            • @Bubbleshark: Stupid how? If you're so smart then why dont you make your own VPN service then?

    Incredible deal. Purchased. Thanks Askhole!

Been trialling Surfshark for the past week and it's a huge performance upgrade on PIA for me.

    • the app is pretty good.

  • It's okay to cancel the recurring payment straight after signup? Or is it better to wait until the cashback is received?

  • I paid via credit card a bit over an hour ago, and still nothing from cashrewards, is that normal for surfshark? last 2 purchases were pretty much instantly tracked which has me concerned, could be to do with the USD/AUD stuff slowing it down though?

    • Did you get it?

  • Everyone's experience is different, but surfshark didn't work well for me.
Surfshark android tv app on my sony tv didn't work. It would connect to a server but no internet. I had no issues with another vpn provider's android tv app.

Also, not that happy you have to contact them by chat/email to cancel the automatic renewal. You can't do it thru your online accnt as with some others.

  • Does anybody know whether it matters if you select to pay or not pay VAT?

  • This or nord or fastest vpn?

    • Having used both, my preference is Surfshark, I found the SmartDNS feature more reliable with less buffering and I get zero VPN detection errors with Netflix with this, but Nord was consistently giving them. Also found speeds and stability far better with Surfshark.

Having said that, it is absolutely a YMMV situation.

  • Just bought it….

  • Got the same deal last this was posted, haven't got my cashback yet, though but I'm expectibg to get it on the 25/11.

Surkshark has been great for me. Use it on my Chromecast Google TV to watch American Netflix, the quality can be quite poor to begin with but it sorts itself out and improves. I don't use it on my PC or Android phone as I use Adguard and I cant work out how to use Surfshark at the same time.

    • +1

you can disable adguard while using surfshark as surfshark comes with an in-built ad-blocker

    • May I ask how to set this up on Chromecast Google TV? I just got mine last week and still discovering how to use it. :)

      • +1

All you have to do is download the Surfshark app onto your Google TV and then open the app and connect to an American server. Make sure you force stop Netflix (go into the Google TV settings > Apps > Netflix > Force stop) then reopen Netflix and you will now be on American Netflix.

  • Seems to have expired. Back to 30%

    • You can now get it with 92% cashback ;)
