210-20cr-10frequentflyer. $180 is okayish.
Eg. Nonsale from kogan is $200 with various discounted gift card available.
Blue Label overrated anyways i guess.
I've never understood the hype of Johnnie Walker, does anyone actually drink this neat?
Yes and no. The cheap red stuff is down right horrible and only good for mixing.
Green is value for money. For very casual drinkers like myself, blue is fool proof and cant get a bad bottle.
Some say single malt is the benchmark, which i strongly degree. It is almost like saying a bottle of shiraz is better than cab sauv. The two are just different, and with pros and cons.
Johnnie blue, xr 21 and royal salute have been my all time favourite blended whiskies. Relatively cheap compare to the more premium stuff which is good for special occasions - King George V?
is a "purity" thing
a more fitting parallel would be a blended wine (e.g. champagne/sparkling white) vs a single variety wine (e.g.shiraz)
I drink mostly single malt because I am the kind of person that sorts skittles/jelly beans and prefers to avoid mix of flavours/colours in same mouthful
I get what your saying, but most of the Scotch industry uses refill bourbon barrels, or port or sherry imitations for part of the distillation process. They often use blends from inside their own warehouses too. These are all single malts as one distillery owns all of the process.
I was paying 120 at dans a few months ago with a price beat
Post it next time please.
I'm not a big JW fan but the XR21 is surprisingly good. I use to buy it dutyfree for $99. at $173 i'd be looking elsewhere.
Mate. 10 years ago. $140 is not bad, given aud dropped + inflation.
why not do it with the blue label which is actually on special as well?
