    eBay gift cards OOS :(

  • +2

Thanks OP. I've not used these before, the basic premise is you buy the particular card from TCN and then use that card to redeem a gift card from whatever store you want?

    • +3

Yes, that's how you use it. For good measure I exchanged 10 x $100 TCN to JB Hi-Fi 10 x $100 GC, then use that to purchase 2x $500 JB Hi-Fi GC (so that I don't have to keep 10 GC). Afterward I used 2 x $500 GC to pay for the Pixel 5 with $100 balance left on one card.

      • +1

ah.. didn't realise we can buy GC using GC. Good to know

      • How many JB GC's can you use per purchase online?

        • I have used 10 but there doesn't seem to be a limit.

  • +2

Bought 2 cards from 2 different accounts using Shopback, both didn't get tracked, raised the ticket but got rejected
Think will try buying a small denomination using CB to see if their pipes are working fine

    • +3

I bought $600 worth from ShopBack a few weeks ago and they were tracked almost instantly. Hope they resolve it for you.

    • +1

Same here. Shopback can’t track my TCN purchases lately. Raised tickets all rejected.
      Hope Cashrewards is different.

Pretty good for JB vouchers if there's no limit. Stack with discounts during the next electronics sale (e.g. mobiles, computer).

    • Thats the plan for me, either JB or The Good Guys as we will need a washing machine in the next month or two!

      • +2

Aren’t you better off buying the home gift cards in woolies (ends today) for 2000 points per $100 spend and that is 10% off. Works in both jbhifi and the good guys and a few other stores too.

        • +2

Yes, assuming you shop at Woolies and don't go out of your typical spending just to use the credit.

          • +1

@iMagoo: Nah I am replying the person above me as they need a new washing machine and looking for a discounted way to purchase that in either JB or TGG. Just saying 10% is better that 7% at the moment.

            • +1

@Cyclingaus6: It is a better deal assuming the Woolworths credit is something you consider equivalent to cash

              • +1

@iMagoo: Can’t you use the credit directly towards your next gift card purchase? Personally I convert it to Qantas points as I deem 1000 Qantas points worth more than $10.

                • @Cyclingaus6: I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can put the credit towards gift cards. Last time I had gift cards and available credit I didn't receive the 'do you want to use your credit?' popup. Unsure why I'm being downvoted, as it's a fair comment. People with everyday rewards credit could either:
                  1. Fall into the trap of buying something they typically wouldn't because they have available credit.
                  2. Shop at Woolies when they might typically shop somewhere like Aldi where many "like-for-like" products are cheaper.
Thus, for some people, 10% back in Woolies credit may be less attractive. Personally I shop and Woolies and have bought $2k worth of cards over the last couple of promos.

                  • @iMagoo: Good to know that it doesn’t work any more, the last time it worked for me was probably 2 years ago but I have changed the redeem preferences to Qantas points so didn’t know they changed.

                    P.S. I didn’t downvote you

        • The WW ones (Ultimate xxx Card) can only be used in store, not online

        • Thanks mate, I was not aware of that deal, we shop at Woolies so that may work. My wife usually uses egift cards to buy groceries, I'm assuming you cannot use those to purchase these?

          • +1

@bassmaniac69: No you can’t use e-gift card to purchase gift cards at woolies any more. I think they changed that last year.

You still can at Coles. But Coles has one bonus per customer so you can’t buy heaps during one promo.

Why there's a $200 purchase cap for me?

showing: Your gift card total cannot exceed AUD $200 (excludes any shipping fees)

  • +7

For everyone's reference: Be careful before you pull the trigger on this deal, lots of people had trouble receiving cards from them if you read the last posts of TCN. Their customer support is not a good one I would vote for.
check the negative feedback from previous post on ozbargain.

    • Was that physical cards or digital?

      • +1

digital some people went through well but some were experiencing a significant delay. just check the previous post then u will find out

    • +3

Agreed. Be prepared to be asked to send through copies of your driver license/passport and credit card and also for your cash back to be rejected.

      • +1

YES! and it is not a wise choice in these days to send ur personal info. especially government-issued ID to a 3rd commercial party, which potentially makes u exposed to a possible scam.

    • I never got sent a link. And then they generated a new link for me to redeem and already it had "insufficient credit".
Still investigating…..lucky it was only $100 and not the $500 denomination.

      • +1

Lucky you are, I had 500 bucks pending in my statement for 2 weeks

Concur about TCN tardiness. When I purchased TCN digital cards inside the Shopback portal, I received the TCN cards ok. Cashback tracking was same day, redeemable within weeks (not 3 months).
But buying digital cards at the TCN web site, both times I got an email asking for photocopy of my credit card and government ID. Naturally I declined and asked them to cancel and refund to my original credit card. The first one took 2 reminders and refund came 1.5 weeks later. The second one, after 3 reminders without any reply, I am still waiting for my refund. It has been 4 weeks now!
I almost think they are making money from people forgetting or giving up on refunds…

      • That sounds weird. I've gone in with over $1000 and, apart from the first shopback via TCN having to do a manual tracking, the GC's were just sent to junk inbox.

        • I actually got the cancellation messages. But did not see the refund back in my credit card despite 3 reminders.

  • All 4 of my transactions just tracked fine.

  • +3

Should be negged simply for being out of stock of a digital gift card.

  • still waiting the physical cards from 30/10, although the credit card has been charge

  • Just tried to redeem 3 x gift card, got 2x gift card must 3rd card missing…

  • buy 10 gift cards, only received 2.
