Can confirm is an awesome little set. Really high quality material and fits away nicely. Perfect for little jobs.

      awesome little set.

      I wouldn't call 3kg 'little'

      • +4

Can also confirm it is definitely not 3kg.
Maybe 0.3kg (300g) would be closer.

It's made out of stainless steel not tungsten.

        • +16

          Are you JoKing ?

        • the kit will have difficulty been under 300g even if it's made out of plastic.

          • @addrv: According to the Xiaomi website, product weight is 281g. It's very small, maybe the size of a phone.

            • @Zephyrus: Interesting.

I would've thought it'll be implausible for the driver handle itself to be under 300g been stainless steel. Perhaps been "stainless steel" doesn't imply density, or material purity?

              • +2

@addrv: It states that it has 'Aluminium Alloy Handle' so I am assuming the bits are stainless.

              • @addrv: Not sure about purity or anything. It feels quite solid and weighty. Each bit is pretty small and the bit handle itself is kind of like a large pen - not that big.

              • @addrv: The driver is not steel, it's aluminum. It's good for what is, a precision screwdriver set for low torque applications. It's very good for taking apart small electronics but I'd get something beefier for furniture or for anywhere you need a bit of torque.

I can't recall what the torque limit is, but it is listed on the box and is fairly low.

        • +1

I just weighed mine, about 251g for the full set. About 22g for the handle alone.

It is a good quality little screwdriver set.

        • +2

          We have a few of these at home. I just weighed one - it's 251g. 6.5cm x 16.5cm x 1.5cm. If that helps.

ETA - Haha MonkDog! We must have both been at the scales at the same time. ;)

Nice set, but if I knew there was another set with electric driver I would have gladly paid the $10-15 extra.

    • +1

is it the same build, I just ordered the non-electric one and now I'm regretti spaghetti

      • Same brand, even box and bits looks the same so I expect same quality, just the driver is different.

        Must…resist…

    • +6

Yeah this just doesn't interest me as much though. Because the jobs you will be using this for are going to be delicate. Personally I think I would rather have control over how tight I make it.
That and this doesn't rely on batteries and is smaller.

      Each to their own though.

      • +1

Oh even with the electric screwdriver, you're still supposed to manually tighten, it just makes the screwing down process faster. I don't use it often enough to justify purchasing a new set just for the electric driver though.

This manual one does get tedious after a dozen screws, but still a good set for the price.

        • Yeah fair, maybe after a lot of screws. I've only ever used it for a few screws at a time.

Anyway, either of these sets are great. Very well made.

    • +1

ooohhh electric driver sounds great. Is there a better place to get it from other than ali?

    • It was $29 from Kogan only about a month ago. Saw it but unfortunately forgot to purchase in time.

    • Was on sale on banggood just recently too

    Weight 3kg

    What ???????

    • Nup, only 251g. :)

      • I don't think anyone is actually reading the Kogan link, rather they are choosing to impulse downvote jv instead. There appears to be a typo on Kogan's listing where it says this set weights 3kg. Probably forgot to change a default value…

        • +1

Yeah, I'd say so. I've come across some hilarious typo weights on Amazon…that 575kg tub of Peanut M&Ms keeps talking to me in my sleep… ;)

(I gave jv an upvote, btw. Didn't think they deserved all the downvotes, either!)

  • Will it be fine to open macbook , and replace ssd as well? I assume outside screws and screws holding ssd will be different?

    • Sure

      • Depends on the MacBook and the screws. I have this set and have to use some from my other set when working on the MacBook devices.

        • I have macbook pro retina late 2013

          • @Modesty: Wont work as doesn't have correct tip unfortunately.

    • I think it just doesn’t have the head for Battery holder screws ( Y1 Tri point head ) in most of older macbooks.

  • Everything is Xiaomi Mi these days.

    • +4

      Unfortunately

    • +1

No it's not. Xiaomi OEM most of its products.

If you do enough research (and I thought that's what forums like OzB are for…), you can find similar products with different labels, if not identical.

    • It’s a Wiha, so technically not Xiaomi.

  • That looks identical to the one I got at Jaycar.

    • Phillips: PH000, PH00, PH0, PH1

Missing PH2 which people may be very interested in.

    • +1

Different case, different driver, different bit selection

      Not really identical is it?

  • Great stocking filler

  • Thanks Op - finally got one!

  • +1

I see Xiaomi Wiha, I upvote.

  • Got a set of these - these are useful for smaller things like watches. They are high quality.

  • +7

App downloaded, bought, app notification about a TV, app uninstalled.

    Thanks.

    • Same here :)

  • Does anyone have any tips on using this? I bought one awhile ago but haven't got any use out of it.
Whenever I go to use it, I struggle to get enough grip on it to actually loosen or tighten anything with enough force.

    • +1

Well I would say most of the things you should be using this for is small applications which generally aren't over tightened.

In saying that, using a small shifter clamped to the flats on the handle might give you some leverage.

      • I've used it a couple times for things like replacing the battery in kitchen scales. I was using it yesterday with a small shifter to get into a home coffee machine where some of the screws had rusted shut.

Always try by hand first, and do as much as you can by hand. if you cant get the torque press down on the top of the driver to keep a strong normal force into the screw. the top of the driver spins separately so should be pretty easy to turn the shifter or multigrips to get the extra torque. Just go slowly to start, someone above said the torque limit is quite low so make sure you dont over do it. .

    • +1

I've used mine a bunch, but I work on small electronics and such so most screws don't require much force at all.

The back end of the driver spins freely, which allows you to put force down onto the screw as you turn it, so the driver bit doesn't slip out.

      • +1

That's what that back end is for! Thank you

  • I have one of these, bought back when I used to buy Chinese-made products (now no longer do wherever possible, despite the cost). Can confirm that it's a great set of precision drivers, probably one of the best out there.

  • great set of tools, bought the same set last year. Never thought i have used it in many small projects… recommended

  • Great set. Have used mine many times!

  • +1

Great set. Just wish they included an accessory to slip around the handle for leverage for tight screws. Would have made this 100% perfect. Mines all chewed/scratchex up from my lazy using a pliers rather than a shifter for grip. All good though as scratches dont break it :-)

    • If it makes you feel any better, mine is pretty scratched from using a shifter as well. The aluminium handle vs steel shifter didnt work out as well.

  • Sold out. Adding to cart says 'the item might have been sold out or not available at this time'…

  • Been wanting to get a second set, but always miss out on deals. Why are they always gone so quick??

    • +2

I believe they're also available at Gearbite for $25.46 Delivered using "GEARBITE15" if you're still looking :)

  • What is the difference between this and the wowstick? I currently have a wowstick
EDIT: nevermind I did not realise it was not electronic. It looks very similar though
