iDIGITAL 720p Dash Cam $10 @ The Reject Shop

1400

Seems to be their normal price. Picked up in Liverpool (plenty of stock). Exactly the same to this deal here

Here's a sample I made available here

Quick notes after buying and using today:
- 1280x960 @30fps
- Weird AVI format, use VLC to watch and HandBrake to encode to MP4
- 4:3 aspect ratio
- Stores 200MB per 1 min of footage

I wouldn't recommend using this as a primary dashcam, I have a VIOFO A119 at the front and this is just for something for the rear - better than nothing.

i think it's more the BMW's LED DRLs flickering not being in sync with the camera's frame rate

  • Just got this. Already have a ~$300 dashcam for the front but at this price I couldn't say no to getting this for the rear.

Maybe 20-30 of them left at Mt Druitt Westfields Rejectshop.

Kogan has Highspeed MicroSD cards, 32GB for $9. Will give a review for anyone who wants it once I install it next week!

    • I’d just like to see some night time footage. Thanks.

      • Don’t have any footage (haven’t gotten my sd card yet) but from the view screen I can see that it doesn’t have that great of a field of view. Very basic options/settings on the device but if you do get into an accident, it is definitely good enough to capture it, along with the driver and numberplate etc. 720p recording as well. I got a 1.5m cable from ebay and ran it to the rear windscreen, records the back, gets the job done. Wouldn’t recommend as a main dashcam but its a no-brainer for a secondary one at the price. Nighttime footage is half-okay but theres definitely plenty of better dashcams out there for nighttime footage if thats your main concern. Kogan as a barrel style one for ~$50 I believe?

        • How do you run two dash cams at the same time? Doesn't one of them require recharging all the time since you can't have two charging at the same? That seems annoying.

            @baskinghobo: dual ciggy socket adapter.

            • @tdw: Thanks. I had a look online and this dashcam only supports MicroSD and all the MicroSD cards online are at least MicroSDHC or higher except the expensive backward compatible ones so I think I might just throw this thing in the bin.

      • It does have a night-time mode which turns on its front LEDs. The manual says they are infrared but I can see them shining white. They don't seem to make much difference beyond 4m anyway, except for number plates which comparatively become quite bright. I don't know how that happens.

The manual doesn't tell you how to turn on the LEDs and it is not intuitive. Here it is: press the power button quickly.

  • There's a few left at Moonee Ponds Reject Shop

  • Where do you find them? Checked my local, there were none in sight and the "tech" corner didn't have them.

Ask at the till. At my local they kept them there because of theft

      • Same at the Broadway store. I bought one as a rear dashcam, they had a couple still left behind the counter, but you have to ask the staff at the register for it (explain you want the $10 one not the $20 one).

      • They should be on a shelf right next to the till, or ask the staff

  • Never used a dash cam before. The fov is so small i dont see it being much use. It cant even see the edges of the bonnet. 2 left at noarlunga anyway.

  • Anyone who bought the $20 one have any feedback?

  • Not a dash cam, but there is also this one in a waterproof casing available behind some counters:

  • Is there any way to zoom out? It seems like the dashcam has a very narrow FOV

    • +1

unfortunately no - even that is too much to ask at $10… lol

this ought to be used as a temporary solution in upgrading to a proper one.

or to be used as a rear cam.

      or on a sh*tbox of a car 🤣

  • Can use for cricket umpire - for run out review?

    • no it has to be connected to car's cigarette lighter socket
