let's come back tomorrow
I don't know, let me think on that.
Rain check
indecision is a big part of procrastination
it's why some people procrastinate
basically because you can't decide what to do..so you don't do it or put off doing it.
I'll read it later, maybe tomorrow.
Books are for collection, aren't they?
Just like the courses on Udemy.Never put off until tomorrow what you can put off doing entirely
Or get some other sucker to do instead
I'll buy this later
it's free.
but later on it might not be..
A better procrastinator would actually buy this now
but just not ever read it.
You might remember me from such other self help programs as “smoke yourself thin” and “get confident, stupid!”
can't be bothered
Do I have to?
OMG … so many decisions … should I buy it ? Maybe not. Not sure. Will do it tomorrow! Might get it cheaper.
Someone summoned me?
Thanks OP. I actually took a punt and paid for the Audible version as well - seemed like good value.
To anyone interested in the subject, I highly recommend Atomic Habits by James Clear - one of the most practical and motivational personal development books I've ever read.
I find it rather intriguing but not surprising that motivational books, or any good advice for that matter, only work on people who are already motivated to improve themselves. I've never seen a lazy person suddenly become motivated and change their life for the better. In fact, advice and motivational speech has the opposite effect on such people. So if you read this stuff then you are already motivated. The challenge for you is to use your time wisely.
Anthony Robbins turned his life around, from an overweight rudderless slob into Banana Hands guy in Shallow Hal.
Didn't mean he wasn't motivated. Sometimes we don't know how to get out of our circumstances until we do. For example if you are poor it so hard to break that chain but once people in those circumstances do manage to find a way out they thrive.
Banana Hands guy worth a half a billion dollars.
This is quite an oversimplification. Atomic Habits actually makes a case that motivation doesn't work - it gives you advice how to get things done without thinking about them too much. Ironically, because of the simple practicality of the advice I have found it highly motivational in wanting to practice it and already seeing the results after months of not getting anywhere.
I agree with that largely but that is more Symantecs. It depends how you define motivation. For example, is it a thing or a process or both?
@[Deactivated]: I'll think about checking later to see if that should have been Accentures instead of Symantecs
@AdModnar: Good one :)
spent 10 minutes on this page already … just scrolling up and down.
came back just now for another look, still not sure if I should.
I thought about making a comment.
I was planning to make another comment tomorrow, but now I've read the summary of the book, I've decided to do it now, not put it off until then.
I'll get this after I hang the laundry.
But do you really want to do the laundry?
But do you really want to do the laundry?
Let me think about it.
Not able to buy, how to get it?
Last five pages are blank doodle space.
I bought it a few years ago, it's somewhere with all my other self-help books I didn't read.
Its okay you have the delorean, you can go back in time and lose it all over again
irony it seems as I'm always on OzB procrastinating when I should be doing work…
What if..
Ozbargain is your real work and your work is actually procrastination.
It's in the OzBargainer's DNA to waste their 9-5 here. I'm going to ponder that thought for an hour or 2…
Ironically added to my collection, thank OP!
Thanks OP. I will hopefully read this one day. Most likely not, same as the other 100+ free books I already have.
Alright, alright……..I'm taking the bins out……..stop shouting at me.
Ahh, the gentle art of procrastination. I used to be really good at it, but now I keep putting it off.
how many people click buy on all these free books, and never bothered reading, or even downloading
don't need to download these books
they are added to your library foreverbut most people don't bother reading the books…
Why do today that which can be done tomorrow or even later, remember you might die before then and it becomes someone else's problem
I shut up and didn't click on this deal, and would rather think about it.
Procrastination: Working tomorrow for a better today.
Underrated comment.
🤠 I'm a conscientious procrastinator & at least I'm a pro at something.
I'll get it & put it in the other pile of books to read (1 year or 2 decade later. Soylant Green is people)
hmm, should I?
actually. that's indecision..
