  • My order status changed to 'Preparing for Shipment', but still show 'We will email you when we have an estimated delivery date.' when I click track package

    • Stupid question, but where can you check order status? In Order details in shows 'Arriving 17 December' and track package button.

      • I mean the title of that order. mine shows 'preparing for Shipment' in order lists which used to be 'delivery date pending'.

        • Thank you, weird but the only thing I can see 'Arriving 17 December', maybe this is order status?

  • +1

Called Amazon and was told that ETA listed on their website is an overestimate and they will most likely send out orders MUCH sooner. He mentioned that most orders will be shipped on the 15th from Perth, Melb and Sydney warehouses. I'm assuming if your eta was 17th or 18th it maybe even sooner than that

  • +1

Wonder if this heavy processing of stock from Amazon means we will see some fresh stock available to the public soon!

  • Let me just add, PS5 is a beast. I feel so blessed to own one. Good luck to you all.

  • The thing I’m struggling with is these consoles are selling consistently every day without fail on eBay for $1400 or so, that’s like double the price meaning you can not only make your money back but essentially grab a free one next year when they’ve ironed out the bugs and actually have more games for it. I mean if you already have a PC or something you can play in the meantime you’re not missing out on that much really and with Cyberpunk coming week after next and the fact it hasn’t been fully upgraded to work with ps5 or series x yet means you’re still not missing out unless you absolutely must have spider man or demons souls games right now.

I know I’ll probably get down voted for this comment but love or hate the scalpers theirs 100% a market right now that has no issues paying double for a ps5…

I already bought spiderman and demons souls for my ps5 but I’m struggling with the fact that if I’m patient I can literally double my money without blinking and essentially get a free one next year once supply catches up.

    • My mate sold his ps5 on ebay for $1500 and now he gutted that he can't find another one anywhere.

I was like it serves ya right mate!

      • I wouldn’t be expecting to find another one till April/may next year. Even then if you till Christmas next year their will be probably be some good deals on. Depends on your level of patience I guess and if you must absolutely have it right now.

        • +3

If you don't want it and can wait. Cancel your order and let it go to the next person.
If you want to be a sh$# person, sell it on eBay.

          • @digitalbath: Or just sell it to someone for RRP

            • +2

@jayboi: why would you sell it to some random for RRP when clearly there are rich ppl wanting to pay double ;)

            • -1

@jayboi: Yeh true! But that someone needs to sign a legally binding contract stating they won't flip it for double the price or the difference gets paid back to the original seller.

Aint no one re selling this for rrp after they paid retail for it at a time like this all good nature is out the window

          • +5

@digitalbath: I try to understand this mentality, if you buy anything it's legally and rightly yours to do whatever you please with. Smash it, burn it, donate to charity etc. If you choose to sell it for double, triple, quadruple the price you paid for it and someone is physically willing to pay that price why does it make you a shit person?

What if you did cancel it and it got re sold to a flipper? What then? There's no guarantee the person that wants it right now would actually get it anyway.

I'm no flipper, I have heaps of things in my personal collection I could flip right now but just never bothered because there's just no need for me to go to the trouble. But the reality is if someone came to you right now and said here's $3k give me your ps5 right now as is there's not a doubt in my mind that 99% wouldn't take it.

Anyway think what you will but it's your property to do with what you please, calling someone shit for doing it means nothing because it's gonna happen regardless what you feel as there's an obvious market for it and honestly the guy with cash isn't gonna care what some screaming minority think, it's literally a first world problem it's not like they're flipping the cure for a mass illness, it's a gaming console not a device for saving babies.

Blame sony they make the console and obviously underestimated the market demand.

            • -1

@Kmartsecurityguard: Try to justify it how you want. Outcome is still the same.

              • +1

@digitalbath: Yeh it is, the flipper makes money and still doesn't care what the "I need every new thing that comes to market now generation" thinks

            • +2

@Kmartsecurityguard: agree with this. If someone offered 3k for my ps5, please take it ;)

              • @skido: Exactly and thanks for being honest we're all human after all.

                • @Kmartsecurityguard: we're all just trying to survive in this world.

why spend many hours working to get $, when you can spend < an hour to get $$$$ ?

                  work smarter, not harder :p

                  • -1

@skido: How did you feel about the hand sanitizer and TP scalpers?

                    • +1

@digitalbath: Even if he/she felt differently about those products, it wouldn't undermine the argument. There's a big difference between a necessity like toilet paper and an entertainment system.

                      • +1

@codewana: yup, was gonna say this.

How did you feel about the hand sanitizer and TP scalpers?

I don't really feel anything. Though I think this is dumb and selfish because its an essential item that everyone needs, especially toilet paper.

on the other hand, a PS5 is an item that some people want

                      • -1

@codewana: Scalping is scalping. The product doesn't matter.
To intentionally buy something that's in demand, to make a profit from people who want that item.
If you're ok with that, then rightio.
We all have different levels of being a sh#$ cu&@ that we're willing to accept.

But to make out like it's no big deal. You're kidding yourself.

                        • @digitalbath: It's interesting. On the one hand, I understand your point from an emotional perspective. On the other, this is exactly what retailers do… Buy things at a discount using their advantage and then selling them at an inflated price due to demand.

The difference is that their advantage is in bulk whereas the scalpers advantage is in being lucky/able to source the goods.

I don't think there's a moral implication for this when we're talking about nice to haves, but can see the discomfort when talking about necessities.

                        • @digitalbath: Not sure how to respond to this really. This is just the free market.
Would I be annoyed or upset if I missed out on a ps5 within the first couple of months of launch because of scalpers? Yeah, probably.
Should it be illegal? Probably not.

Just my opinion. Maybe I'm all those things you said, or maybe I'm a realist.

                          • -2

                            @codewana: Are you a scalper?

                            Yes? You're a dick.

No? But you're accepting of scalpers? You're an idiot.

I understand why they do what they do.
People who are willing to pay overs are just as much to blame.
Yes people are willing to pay, but that doesn't make it right for scalpers to do what they do.

                            • +3

@digitalbath: I'm not a scalper. Just an idiot then, I suppose, in the eyes of some stranger on OzB.

It never ceased to amaze me how some people can't understand a different opinion and need to resort to name calling or ad homonyms… You're clearly very sophisticated and intelligent.

I wish you luck on your PS5 hunt and suggest you stick to playing video games rather than attempting thoughtful discussions… They're not your strong suit.

                              • @codewana: Yeah rightio buddy.
Have a think about what you're actually defending.
Just proves what type of mentality you have.

            • @Kmartsecurityguard: Yeah, but if you sell your only preorder and you really want it, don't come crying to me that you can't find another one… lol

              • +1

@Chukka01: I highly doubt I'd be crying to anyone being that"if" I did sell it I'd make close to a $1k profit for the time it takes to slap a alternative address on it and send it to a new owner.

                • +1

@Kmartsecurityguard: I have no problem with scalping. Its basically supply meeting demand. What I do have a problem with is hypocrites who cry foul when that same mentality applies to other things like houses, cars, rent prices etc…if you feel comfortable making money from people's desperation and geographical isolation you should also feel comfortable accepting to pay triple for your home and car as you are basically being scalped

  • Anyone got any good deals for PS5 yesterday?

    • Are you joking? Looking at any PS5 threads on this site, this is not an item that retailers need to do any sort of deals to sell. The desperation is off the charts.

      • +2

Yes I am Joe, Joe King.

  • Would love to know how many of these scalped PS5s are going to overseas buyers. Especially given the price some have gone for on eBay.

    • Not many I would imagine, wouldn't be worth it if you ever need to claim warranty (which it seems like many early release made plagued with issues) plus the import tax and low stock availability especially in Oz. I think most will be sold to Ausies desperate to get one by Xmas

    • +1

The insane prices are probably the result of RevengeBot bidding.

      • +2

        so the logic is

someone is desperate to get a ps5 for xmas

revengebot ruins a listing with fake high bids

        scalper loses a sale

        genuine buyer misses out

        some kid misses out

what is the (profanity) point of that?

  • I contacted Amazon about my PS5 order that said arriving on 17th Dec.

Told them there are reports of people with estimated arrival times later than mine that have shipped first (I ordered around 10am, never changed shipping and always showed arriving 17th since order).

They apologised and gave me a $10 voucher, would advise people to grab a voucher if there ps5 haven’t shipped yet.

    • I contacted them about my Dec 17th order and was told by the Amazon rep:

“I’ve contacted the shipping team and was informed that the items have been assigned the fulfilment center and will be shipped out anytime soon from now.

The order is in final stage of shipping and assigned to Aussie post carrier.”

EDIT: My card has not been charged yet

    • +1

Tried it, got no voucher. Lol all I got was "we will charge your card ASAP and ship when we can". haha def not a victory here.

  • Just in case anyone is interested in the Xbox Series X
I was able to order one using this method. Called and confirmed it will be shipping in 24 to 48 hours. People who ordered last night had their shipped already:

it seems like microsoft is going to sell the series x soon, if you go to https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/consoles/xbox-series-x#purchase the "BUY NOW" button is not disappearing anymore, but if you click it, it will say "Out of stock", however, if you have some basic js/react knowledge, you can easily make it think it IS in stock and enable the button for you.

There are a few ways to do it, but the easiest to follow is:

Using chrome with React dev tools installed, enable dev tools, use the element selection (CTRL SHIFT C), select the "out of stock" button, then click the Components tab, you'll see the component tree, click Button and then click the <> (view source for this element) button on the top right corner of the dev tool, place a breakpoint on line 24 (var prefix =…) and refresh the page, it will break on that line… now the boring part, when the code breaks on that line, hover the mouse over props and check if disabled is true, if it is, then change it to false by double clicking "false", then type "true" and hit enter. Then click the play button (resume) at the top-right corner.

when the code stops breaking, go to Elements tab, double click the html code corresponding to the button and remove the "disabled" from it.

After you've done that, click the "out of stock" button and it will be added to your card and you can complete the order.

I tried this yesterday and I was getting an error on checkout, but now I just tried and placed the order successfully! https://ibb.co/NsYs7yk

Looks like the orders from Amazon on November 12th are starting to go out now. My order from Amazon arrives December 4th :). Congrats to the folks who got theirs. And good luck to the guys still hunting.

    • Awesome! When did your delivery date get updated? And when did you get charged?

    • were you charged on yesterday and did your item get dispatched today?

    • Charged, went to preparing shipping and shipped shortly after. Within 1-2 days :)

      • Ohhhhh mannnn, mines charged and is on preparing for shipment. Still says 18th December for now though. Fingers crossed for an early surprise!

    • I still haven't been charged.

I hate Amazon now, it is my (im)mortal enemy

    • Update! actually arrived early today on Sunday, the amazon priority shipping came through. I didn't know auspost delivered on weekends :)

  • Big W says that their 2nd wave hasn't arrived yet and to keep an eye on their website. Not much info but I guess we're all desperate rn for a rrp PS5.

    • Where did you hear this information ?

      • +1

      • Expedited, 17 DEC.

  • I just noticed Amazon charged my card last night. Ordered at 9:07 on the 12th (disc edition). Delivery date was, and remains, 18th December.

For what it's worth, I called Amazon yesterday morning to see if they could give me any more information. Not sure if that had an effect, but others may want to try it too.

Will update on delivery details (assuming that's helpful?).

    • +1

Good chance it will come earlier than the ETA. My ETA was Dec 4th, it arrived today :)

    • I tried doing the live chat function and was just told "we'll process your payment ASAP but ship when we can". Didn't get the most helpful dude.

  • My amazon order changed to shipping now.

    • I feel ya buddy. Hope it happens soon for you!

    • I still haven’t been charged either :(

    • same boat

Amazon took my money on Friday for the PS5 disc version I ordered just after 9am on Nov 12th.

I live in Sydney and the order has always said it's arriving on the 17th of Dec. That's what it still says.

Absolutely nothing has changed on my order this whole time, other than Bezos taking my money.

Delivery type is Expedited and I haven't played around trying to change it to Priority or anything.

    • hey same here, just got charged!

The email I received the other day is really clear that you will only be charged once the item is dispatched..I'm hoping it will be shipped tomorrow :)

      • Technically speaking you have most probably have not been charged, its just an authorisation as in the merchant as kept the money on hold from your account. The merchant has around 7 days to charge your card, that is when the authorisation is changed to charge and the money is sent to the merchant.

        • Amazon doesn’t do that tho.
