This Deal is quickly attracting neg votes & comments! We won't fall for Circles Dodgie billing practices again!!

You Failed! But you're back with a new Deal - TRUST US!

  • +7

You've got to be joking Circles!!
At the same time we are complaining of a breach of contract by Circles… Being overcharged against the T&C we agreed to.
Circles Rep is posting a new Deal😠

    See the shitstorm developing

This company is going to go far with these practices

Guys stay away from the company.
I still receive emails to pay bills which I have paid 1 month ago, for a service which was supposed to be $1.

    • -5

Hi anamul! Sorry to hear about still getting notifications about a bill. Please hop on our Live Chat service over our website if you need help with anything else. https://www.circles.life/au/help/

      • +4

So many of us did that last week!

Circles replied today, saying we have to pay the $38 overcharge as they can't adjust the bill due on 19/11!

Circles initially told us there was nothing wrong with the billing.
Circles now admits to billing us incorrectly.
Circles breached its own T&C for that Deal.

        What a terrible business!
        Circles can't be trusted!
Circles needs to be investigated by the appropriate authorities for its unconscionable conduct!!

You promoted the offer, but did not respond to PMs last week about the serious breach..

      • +3

Yeah nah I got the reply already "disregard any automated payment reminders from us"
        Very professional!

        • +1

tbh I've had those email reminders happen with other services as well, although rarely. It's not just circles.

          • +1

@Blitzfx: The reminder says your payment was failed to proceed x number of times, for the bill I've paid earlier. Do other services keep asking for the money you've paid weeks ago?

            • @anamul: One sent a reminder that needed to pay by x-date, but it was only a few days between the email and when I had already paid.
It also had a line at the bottom of the email to disregard it if I had already paid it.

Never had the repeated payment failed email though.

You can always check your own bank account / credit card to see if you've been deducted the cash. After that, it's their problem and not yours.
You have the law on your side at that point in time.

  • +1

Hey OP, are you a rep for circle.life? If so, maybe respond to some of the negativity so you can reassure members that things have changed for the better (unless they haven't changed, then in that case just carry on ignoring)

Edit: never mind, I think you tried that last time but it didn't go down to well. Good luck

  • +4

OP: you've got to be joking. Why promote this Dodgie business when so many of us are involved in a dispute with Circles - being overcharged in a Deal you promoted!!

    You should be ashamed!

Sent the associated OP PMs last week about the serious billing issue in another flawed Circles Deal.

Got no response, but OP is back to sell to the gullible here!

Circles wants us to pay $38 for our first bill promoted as free in the Deal & T&C "Your first bill will include 2 x $38 discount". Only 1 discount was applied!

Circles admits to their error in emails sent to us, but says nothing can be done to correct the bill due on 19/11.
Instead they promise to apply the $38 discount if we pay the overcharge & stay for another month. Trust us!
    What a Dodgie business!!

    DON'T TRUST CIRCLES.LIFE😠

    • +1
      • +2

Thanks for doing your research & pointing out how much my views have suddenly changed about Circles!!

Yes, my previous experiences have been great with Circles. Good speed, no unexpected charges, no billing problems after terminating service. But I advised to be cautious!

I've only upvoted Circles, until this terrible & avoidable bullshit. Circles Deals had 19 times more upvotes than negs as I pointed out. Mainly a small number of the same members repeatedly posted their negs & complaints in new Deals, usually about avoidable issues.

Most complaints were about being billed after porting out (without notifying you are terminating your post-paid monthly service as required). I showed how Circles said to avoid that. And the issue of pro rata billing in first month with no discount.

I've repeatedly posted advice on how to avoid those nasties in this post-paid service. As I did in your link. None of that happened here. This was a completely new problem.

So my neg now is a complete turn around for a completely new problem with Circles! Circles have completely f*@#ed us over this time.

In this case, Circles has blatantly breached its own T&C & refuses to correct it's error. Circles even admits their error. That's a breach of contract - a very serious matter in any business!

Circles is charging $38 for a promoted free service, promising to repay us next month to correct their error. But we have to stick with them to get our money back… That's a totally dodgie business practice.

        Circles.Life are dead to me.

        • Oh..
So you're experiencing billing issues and circles industry leading customer service…
Maybe the usual neg voters were trying to tell you something…

          • @randomusername2017: Yes they were repeatedly telling us they ignored good advice in comments & in Circles FAQ or T&C. To which I again gave advice on how to avoid those issues for others. For which I was often negged. They just wanted to vent.

As I said, not following the conditions of the post-paid monthly plan service was always likely to lead to being billed.
It's very different to using prepaid services most are used to - where we turn off on going payments & leave. Without notifying Circles you were leaving, billing could continue. Complaints were mainly about that issue.

There were warnings about that potential problem as far back as a year ago. I learnt from others advice & had enjoyed Circles offers without any issues, like most. But a few people ignored many comments warning of it & were burnt by their actions.

This is a new problem. Hence why I changed my mind on Circles.

Circles blatantly breached their own T&C of the offer & will not correct the admitted overcharging in current bills - that is so wrong by any business.

I notice you don't think there is a problem with Circles warranting a neg vote!!

But you strangely criticise my comments warning of this current problem??

            • @INFIDEL: criticise?

Don't think the deal is that bad it warrants soliciting neg votes.

Billing issues is already an established feature of this service provider.

              • @randomusername2017: Well glad you welcome my comments then😉

Neg votes are valid under voting guidelines for known "issues with the retailer". That's the basis of my vote.

You say there are known billing issues - which would seem deserves a neg vote, since you raised it!

              • @randomusername2017: But you seem to miss the new problem in my complaint - not warned of before to my knowledge…

There was a very serious issue of breaching the agreed contract with us, under the offer T&C. Almost all who took up that Deal are affected. Unlike the occasional person complaining in other Deals!

That brings up the serious issue of whether we can trust any offers by Circles when they ignore their own T&C!

It just happened to cause an unresolved billing issue, but that's not the primary problem.

                • -1

@INFIDEL: Equally as serious as issuing bills after port out and cancellation, then having to navigate customer service to resolve..Established

Anyway.. good luck with your current issue.

                  • +1

@randomusername2017: As I have said - I and others warned about billing after port out if you didn't follow the advice on how to terminate in Circles FAQ.

It's a post paid plan - requiring notification to stop billing.
Notify to Terminate at end of month, then port - pretty easy!

                    Established??
                    That problem was entirely avoidable!
I took advice in comments & wasn't billed in other Circles Deals.
But some ignored the advice & complained. Yes it happened, but it didn't have to if people took the advice in comments!

There was no way to avoid Circles breaching their own T&C, except not taking up the Deal. We can't trust Circles after that!
That's what I am warning about in this Deal.

Don't know how you think a few people ignoring advice to terminate to avoid future billing is "Equally as serious" as a business breaching their own contract with all its customers in an offer? It certainly isn't!

Apart from warning people not to trust Circles as they break their agreement, I'm not following up the issue unless Circles demands I pay. I can't see that happening.

Termination notified for end of month.
Turned off Auto Payments, as others should.
Will take it up with TIO etc if Circles seek payment.

  • +1

Yeah, nah. I'm churning out mate.

  • +1

    LOL

  • +1

My girlfriend signed up for their plans last month. We did manage to get the SIM delivered in two days but ran into some problems activating. Managed to reach out to CS and they resolved it fairly fast. She just got her bill and looks like she got billed the right amount..

    • +2

Your girlfriend's due a visit in a month from baba circles yaga..

  • +3

Avoid this company. Have a look at comments from their previous promo www.ozbargain.com.au/node/562778 .

  • +1

I had 5months free with this mob and still felt ripped off. Stay away, they are a scam.
    Ban them from OzB.

    • +2

I had 5 months free then another month + 1 day for $1.22. Was completely happy with Circles.
Until this breach of T&C by Circles & their refusal to remove the overcharge from our bills due to be paid in a weeks time.

      • How did you manage to get charged for only $1.22 ? I got charged the full month bill for late cancellation (few days) :(

        • Wasn't a charge for leaving, but joining 1 day before month of use.

Activated SIM last day of month before, in that 1 month free Deal.
A tactic to avoid the full cost of first month charged in most Deals by Circles.
That way the first month was pro rated at full cost of 1d/30d x $38 = $1.22. Full month was free.

Notified to terminate at end of month, just into full month, to avoid any billing issues after leaving.

The tactics we do to use Circles, without extra costs!!

  • +2

I'm going to have to add, that when I tried to ask someone on their chat line what date I was going to be billed, they said "end of February", they refused to give me an exact date, so I made sure I cancelled mid February just incase. Being vague when someone asks an exact date is very devious and dodgy practice.

    • +1

Any vague time like that is fine right? You're paying for last month's usage, so that would be January's. Although I've never had a bill come that late.

    • +2

Even advice from this Rep was wrong in the Deal in dispute.

Far too confusing to deal with. That's why there has been so much discussion in Deals - us trying to understand the offers & conditions. Circles were no help.

As in the Deal in dispute, Circles ignores its own T&C & won't correct it's error in the bills not due for payment for another week - claiming they can't change them!

  • +2

    Sh!T company

  • +4

I am here to assist with negging

  • +5

Ban this company. What a joke having them post another deal.

  • I'm soooo happy I used a prepaid Visa Gift card with $2 with Circles, many times.

    Works perfectly.

It's also illegal to put any debts worth LESS than $150.01 on a Credit File.

And through trial and error with Circles, I found their systems automatically cut people off at $120.

So, I'm happy to let these scammers give me free calls and data for a while.

  • +1

    Terrible company ever. Dishonest! Downvoted!

  • Tried cancelling with them from the first deal and the process took such a prolonged response for two months before I gave up and just ported the number.
They now threatened to report me to debt collection even though I didn't use the service for those last months.
What is the best way for me to approach this?

  • +3

Jesus, seriously? You're going to post this instead of attending to the shitstorm of your last post which was meant to be your Ozb make-good?

I genuinely don't know what you were expecting to achieve by posting this.

0 upvotes, 20 downvotes, looks about right.

  • +2

Oh crap, I've had a few issues with them so far, but didn't realized/seen whats gone wrong with this promo, I should have looked at this post and others sooner.

1st issue = cant see or pay bill online, only thru their shitty app, which keeps showing a popup ad about referring friends every time I run app, even after turning ads off.
2nd issue = I removed my CC details after signing up, but that lead to issue 3.

3rd issue = when my 1st bill was due there was no pay bill now button/option in app to do so, wasting my time with a few chats/emails.
4th issue = On 1 chat (about the above), was on hold as such for 2 hours, every time I commented I got a auto-reply saying please wait, transferring you to someone else.

5th = It seems (told/read) that they do some routine maintenance usually within the first 10 days of every month & some features on app may be down,
like pay bill, but bills for each month are due in the first 10 days of each month also, so dumb.

Now I cant remove/update my c/card again in app, as I added it back to TRY to pay my bill, screen goes to white with looping circles….most likely doing maintenance again, cant do anything with the app atm.

I still have 100gb with them atm, I WILL cancel as soon as I've used most of it up, looks like (from comments in a few posts) I'll have pay $38 before being able to close down account???

    • +1

Replied to your comment - but it moved.

Their billing system is very different.

Bills are raised in the first 10 days (usually of 2nd month as first bill is for 2 months)
Payment is due about 10 days later.
So no payment possible until bill arrives in 2nd month.

If you are in dispute like some of us, Circles recommended to turn off Auto Payments so we aren't billed until the issue of the overcharge is resolved.
You've got no payment set up, so payment would be via App.

      Cancellation can be notified anytime.
But it is carried out at the end of the chosen month (around 5pm Sydney time).

I emailed Circles - can be easier.
Check out their FAQ about Billing.

      • Thanks, sorry for that,lol.

I need to spend more time reading up on comments/posts & trying to understand what HAS happen and what SHOULD have happen, not easy for me atm due to ongoing lack of sleep (insomnia).

I still cant remove my CC in app to turn auto payments off.

        • +1

          Not a problem.

Yes, sleeping on it is good advice.
That's what I've done with Circles Deals, & read the comments for good advice.

Lack of sleep can easily lead to mistakes that take ages to correct. I know the problem well. Have had insomnia for years 💤 Many sleep lab studies haven't found a solution.

Am taking an island break next week (long walks along deserted beaches) to hopefully reset my sleep habits & give me a break from the usual stressful issues.

In App, just turn off Auto Payments. I can't remove CC either.

  • +1

Glad the OzB community is starting to recognise this for the crap it is

  • +4

I ported out but one of my numbers took a little longer to port out, barely 1 day into october gets charged $28 LOL

    • +3

Same situation happened with me because the customer service took their time to respond to my email.

      • +2

Must be 1 of their tactic.

    • Just needed to give notice to terminate for end of month. Then port before account was closed. As recommended in many Circles Deals.

      • I thought they would charge me for the 1 day which I'm fine with but NOPE, Full month.

        • +1

I know Circles is difficult to understand.
It's not designed for casual SIM hoppers, but those who intend staying long term.

It's a month to month plan as a post paid service. Billing is monthly. So 1 minute into next month of service is billed as a month.

Termination date is last day of month, not any other date.

Only in the month of joining is the service pro rata charged. That causes other problems - usually first month has no discount applied!

Been discussed in Deals. Learnt about that last year from warnings in comments.

It's a provider where the customer needs to read the T&C very carefully & listen to advice in comments & Forums! Only then sign up if you know what you're doing.

Even with a good knowledge of the pitfalls of using this service, I wasn't prepared for a bill in a free 2 month offer. Circles breached their own T&C. When caught, Circles replied they couldn't correct the $38 overcharge in the bill due on 19/11! Bastards😠

Best to avoid the hassles & hazards with Circles!!

Prepaid services are much easier to understand & leave without further costs.

  • +7

I think the company has cheated ozbargainers probably out of thousands of dollars with their antics. Definitely the opposite definition of a bargain.

    • +2

      NOzbargain.

  • I'm probably gonna get it anyway tbh. Will deal with cancelling in a year and hope for the best.

  • There is cheap out, and there is cheap out

  • +1

    scamming business

  • +1

Came here to neg. Their billing system is glitchy. Customer service used to be very good but now they are indifferent.
Avoid them if you want peace of mind.

  • Besides the initial free bill fiasco, how is their service? I've just had Optus change my $36 plan to $45 plan so I need to find a new plan.

    • +4

      Avoid at all costs.

      • Considering I'm currently paying $45 for 30GB a month, even paying $38 a month would be better than what I'm on at the moment. Also this appears to be a more wide spread promo. The one people had problems with appears to be a smaller scope targeted deal that doesn't look like it was properly approved internally.

But as I was saying, just asking about their services apart from the billig issues mentioned above about the 2 free months.

        • +3

There has been reports that international calls have been billed but customers claim they never called. Just imagine if you have a major bill shock. Good luck having it fixed or proving it.

  • My gf signed up to Circles life 2 months ago based on my recommendation from seeing the pro's/cons here
Port in was completed in 24 hours and so far 1st 2 bills are correct and coverage on network is fine.
Hope when it comes to port out as most the neg comments were about that too.

Just wanted to add a recent experience and will add more if it turns sour!
