Lenovo Flex 5 14" 2-in-1 Laptop, 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) Touch Display, AMD Ryzen 5 4500U Processor, 16GB DDR4 OnBoard RAM, 256GB SSD, AMD Radeon Graphics, Windows 10, 81X20005US, Graphite Grey

921.31 + shipping or free shipping with prime

Not the most historically cheapest, was around 880

Comes with
Laptop
Us type C charger (saw the 3 pin with an au plug)
And the Lenovo pen

My wife has one of these for study and played the odd game of the Sims 4 and GTA5.

Plays Sims 4 fine and GTA 4 on low

Gets good battery life, usually used it a couple of nights in a row before needing to charge it

Biggest letdown is the display as direct sunlight makes it hard to see (using it in a car)

Overall still a good purchase

  • How does this $900 Acer compare against this?

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/acer-spin-3-14-inches-2-in-1-…

    Comes with an active pen.

    • AMD YES:) Lenovo has more ram as well. Only advantage Acer has is the local warranty.

    • +4

The Acer is a lot slower. AMD R5 4500u is faster than a lot more power hungry i7s

      Average Benchmarks Intel Core i3-1005G1 → 100% n=38
      Average Benchmarks AMD Ryzen 5 4500U → 150% n=38
      Average Benchmarks Intel Core i7-1065G7 → 139% n=38

The Flex also has better cooling, so the processor can maintain its performance for a longer-term and not throttle.

      • what tdp value you recommend to keep on ideapad out of 12.5, 25 or 25w ? Whats the difference we are gona see here ?

        • Are you referring to the S540 or the Flex? The S540 is capable of changing TDP, the Flex has limited options. If you look at page 9 for the S540 you can see what the performance impact is for changing TDP. The benefit of the lowest TDP setting is better battery life.

          https://next.lab501.ro/notebook/english-lenovo-ideapad-s540-…

          • @shellshocked: Ya for S540 … I read all pages of this but honestly am unable to extract meaning of these charts … Shall i keep 12.5w for day to day use web browsing, excel, word etc and 25w when gaming ?
Does higher tdp means faster, snappier performance but low battery life ?

    • I don't trust Acer build quality and warranty

Nice, it's back. Great laptop for the price, I like mine. Screen could be brighter but it's usable and can't do any better in a 2-in-1 without spending a good deal more.

Note that you can upgrade the Lenovo warranty to on-site for a trivial amount (should be under $20) and when you do so, the base USA only warranty changes to Australian warranty, negating the major disadvantage to buying from Amazon US.

    • Do you have a link where you can change the warranty?

      • +4

From the Lenovo support page, if you enter in your serial or have the product registered to your logged in account, you can view your warranty details and purchase upgrades. When you try to purchase upgrades on the Lenovo AU site it will ask you if you want to change to the Lenovo US site as it will be a US product. If you continue to the AU site, it will notify you that "changing the base country may affect your warranty entitlement in your current country" or similar, a warning that the base country will change. From there you purchase upgrades as normal, and once the upgrade is fully processed the base ship-to country will change. If you registered the product the start date for the base 12mos warranty will also be updated to your reported purchase date.

You can also get 15% off Lenovo warranty extensions if you currently use the code "WELCOME15"

        • So this is after purchasing and receiving the item?

        • That did not work for me. I’ve got a defective product. I’ve changed to Australia, registered my laptop here and even bought an on-site repair upgrade.

They refused to fix it citing that it was registered as an US product. Called multiple times and have a long running email chain as well, with no avail. 5/7 wouldn’t recommend dealing with Lenovo support

@sidindra: That's unfortunate to hear. I would be on to Fair Trading about that personally, as they sold you a service that they failed to provide. Nowhere in T&C of the warranty does it state that it won't apply to products originally purchased elsewhere and every indication is given that the device has warranty in Australia after the base country changes. We do at least have the option of return to Amazon still, but it shouldn't have to come to that.

  • I saw the comments on that were concerning as you will have to go through Amazon to claim a warranty?

Anyone have any issues with that? Wouldn't mind paying $100-150 more locally if I can get an Aussie warranty?

      Read the comment above.

  • Typing from mine right now and very happy. Just a note that the screen is as dull as the reviews state. Not a big issue for me as its plugged into a monitor 99% of the time.

  • Got two of these don't waste your money constant freezing and buzzing noise when watching videos or in zoom meetings etc. I expected Lenovo to fix this issue very disappointing.

    • +2

Have you installed Radeon drivers straight from AMD? From what I've read it's an issue just with the drivers Lenovo ships.

      • Tried that mate didnt help.

I’ve bought this from one of the previous deals. Cam broke after a month and a little while later the sensor which auto detects tablet mode and rotation broke. Amazon did offer a refund for the laptop and the postage charges as well.

Lenovo support on the other hand were atrocious. They do not have international warranty on the product and wouldn’t even give me a quote to get it repaired. I’ve wasted quite a bit of time dealing with their sub par support. Personally I would stay away from them.

  • Hmm abit conflicted, reviews says its good, comments says its bad. Can the ssd be upgraded/nvme?

  • +1

Price works out better with today's Shopback AU Amazon offer (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/579763)

  • Although it's good value I would recommend going for a laptop with a better screen and local warranty.
