Called EB as I have this game on preorder (coz I want a game with my machine next week). They won’t price match Amazon as ‘there’s no physical store’.
Im 100% no brick and motar stores will price match Amazon. None.
Puglife below suggests JB HIFI price match Amazon although they may decide to add shipping costs.
JB price matched Amazon when the Nintendo Switch was released. Had to show them the online ad showing it was the same box and SKU as theirs. Shipping was free from memory but that was something they asked about.

No they will add in the cost of prime as that’s what is paid to obtain the free delivery making the delivery fee.
I've never had any trouble price matching Amazon with JB and they don't add on the shipping as I tell them its free shipping over $39
i guess it depends on who you get, they added on shipping of some things i bought a little while back this year when i was in qld and wouldn't budge… even though i pointed out it's free shipping
Got declined by JB last time I tried to price match (Ghost of Tsushima) - said they won't price match an online store.

@sween64: I used to work for them for quite a long time, if it’s AU stock fulfilled in AU they will price match. Every time a sales person tried to be sneaky and decline it (to avoid losing commission) - either head to the manager, or write a complaint via the website.
@sween64: The sales line is relatively new, but a fine option! There should be a form on the site to contact your local store as well, which you can fill out online, and then follow up with a call to their sales manager and get them to action.

I asked JB to price match Crash 4 for me based on the price on Amazon AU and they did it no problems. Both the attendant who I spoke to over the phone and the attendant in store price matched without any issues.
In case anyone reads this JB refused to price-match Harvey Norman quoting "Price matching is not a company policy".
I didn't really have the time to go full Karen on them. Just went to EB next door and got it price matched. The guy also convinced me to buy my second controller from them as well. Good salesman.

Getting Demon's Souls and Spiderman on PS5.
For people who can only get one though, PS5 will lead in the games department at the start of the generation, many of Xbox's games still in the middle stages of devlopment, as most of their studios were purchased in 2018.
@Griffindinho: Yeah, I sold Spiderman on the PS4 for $20 and got the ultimate edition, since it was $20 more than standard.
@Vinodra: Only difference will be frame rate boost and probably higher res with better texture filtering on the ps5

It includes ray tracing, which is not something devlopers just flick a switch to enable, it requires a significant amount of work to implement.
As far as I know some character models have also been redone.
I sold Spiderman (PS4) for $20 during the VIP trade up deal EB games is running.
@Vinodra: As I also support both camps, I am finding XB1 games are getting as much trade value as the PS4 version. For example, EB is offering more for PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

I’ve always never received a preorder from them on launch.
Reckon they are just showing a later delivery date so people don’t complain and get a $5 or $10 credit.

I was hoping to use the Maccas Amazon coupons for my PS5 games. You need a min spend of 79, so I was just going to add something else that I needed to make up the difference. But it won't let you put this into a cart as it's a pre-order. Disappointing. Good price though. Hopefully I can snag one for the same price once it's actually released.
I did this and you can get around it, add Valhalla and the second item you were planning to your Wishlist, you can then add both items to your cart via your Wishlist.

They will drop to around 85-89 eventually at stores like JB/ BIG W, since that is around 35-40 below RRP.
The days of $69 Sony games are over unfortunatly. Anyone who purchased a digital console is in for a nasty shock.

@Vinodra: surprised they arent selling the digital only console for wayyy cheaper then cos they are obviously gonna rake the money in with digital game sales, especially since they dont have a game pass so the users are basically shafted on a digital-only playstation.
@Iggemo: Well, the console sold out everywhere regardless, many people wont have a choice which version they get for quite some time; and be forced to buy the digital edition due to stock limitations.

It has less to do with publisher, but rather release date. Valhalla is $99 on PSN. Conversely, Miles Morales is first party and is already discounted to $79 because it's a November release.
Those $109 prices on Amazon are basically RRP placeholders. I'd bet my life savings that Demon's Souls and Harry Potter (which btw, is still listed at $109 even on Xbox, and WB published) will get similar discounts closer to their respective launch dates.
Demons Souls is releasing in 3 days, it likely isn't getting any cheaper. That $109 is already discounted from RRP.
Miles Morales is cheaper because its a half length game like Uncharted: Lost Legacy. Its RRP in the US is $50.
It has everything to do with the publisher, they set the RRP.
Harry Potter is more because the publisher set the price higher, it may get cheaper, or it may not drop much like Demons Souls and Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
@Vinodra: I suspect Demon's Souls will drop further once Sony realises the market won't tolerate $125 games, much like $110 for the PS4/Xbone era. The fact is, most of the launch 'window games' like Valhalla or Far Cry 6 are cross-gen, so we don't know what Sony or Ubisoft's next gen pricing will be once the dust settles and people aren't so desperate for software on their new console.
What about the $260 in DLC for this game?
If only this was for Demon's Souls - Would happily pay about $89 for that but struggling to convince myself whether any PS5 game is worth over $100 at this point.

For me, it will be a completly new game, as I didnt play the original. Im fine with paying the $109 because of this.
For people that have played the original, it will just be that same game with better graphics/ loading times. For those people, $109-125 could be seen as over priced.
Same here. Happy to be $79-89 but definitely not $109.
I mean in terms of value for money, games at $109 are still not bad considering the amount of hours you can sink into a game.
Many people are happy to spend:
-$100+ on a concert ticket which lasts a few hours
-$40 on a meal and a drink at a restaurant
-$20 to go watch a movie
If all games did go up in price, the 2nd hand market price would increase, the trade value would increase.
Depending on what time you look at completion of demon souls is going to take between 30 to 40hrs. That's like $3/hr of entertainment and then you can go sell it 2nd and recover some of that cost.
PSA: Don't preorder stuff.

I agree - I enjoyed Odyssey, but I only played it a year after release.
As much as I want this, I will wait and get it for way cheaper and less buggy.
Thats fine, I done the same thing for Odyssey. But for people who have launch shipment consoles, it doesnt really make sense to buy a console, then wait an entire year to buy games for it.
I also bought Odyssey maybe a year after release and have yet to finish the DLCs due to crashing and bugs… :/ Love it otherwise and definitely have got my money's worth, just frustrating that I cannot finish it.
Watchdogs Legion was fine for me
Legion has a save corruption bug unfortunately. should be fixed by next gen console version though.
Only game i've ever had such a thing in is Fallout 4, not planning on playin Legion anyways though as I wasnt a fan of WD 1 or WD2.

@Letrico: Australia has consumer protection laws anyway, if a game is unplayable at launch, you can just return it for a full refund.
Most likely they consume a bunch of US related content, since their consumer protection is basically non existent.

Backwards compatibility is the thing everyone really likes, but not many people actually use.
Why would you be buying a PS5 specifically for old games? It's nice to have, but I dont think many people are buying it for the very small number of uncapped games that will see increased performance on the PS5. If a game is locked to 30, it stays at 30.
