Not available on solar is a real shame

  • i'm with EA at the moment, any good supplier to switch to?

    • I just switched to Ovo.

      22.616kwh and 81c/day connection.

Vs Tango hiking my rate to

      22c kwh and 102c/day connection.

      $70 cashback with Ovo, too.

Point 2 says it will be paid on new accounts or if moving premises. What’s the deal if you’ve been with EA before but switched, but still at the same place?

  • Currently with EA, just wondering if port out now and port in 1 month later will eligible for the cashback?

    • I'm not sure about EA specifically but in general I've found if you've been a customer within the previous 12 months then they won't honour new customer incentives. Sometimes you can get lucky though esp if you call up and get them to manually apply any bonus.

  • How can I compare their rates to the AGL rates I'm getting now.

    • You look at the rates your currently paying and what Energy Australia is offering, then choose the lower one.

      • To be fair, you should do a small calculation with daily charge, rates and your current consumption. This way you get a calculated comparison.
Rates alone do not always provide a good comparison.
Also if a they mention "discount on rate" make sure that the discount isn't already included in the displayed rate.

OMG … I just got my new Gas Rates from energy Australia … no wonder they pay you so much to become a customer. Leaving them right now.

  • EA used to be good, moved away when they dropped the FIT by 31% to $0.115

I am going to neg because having large cashback every month does not imply bargain because, T&C's.

    • 6 months min
    • solar not allowed
    • high tariff rates

How much will it cost you over 6 months? I found cheaper by 20% (rural NSW,w/TOU,CL,FiT)

It does say 180 days, although it didn't take that long, at least not with me.
The rates, in my area, are competitive - it will depend on where you are I guess.
My bill (calculated with the exact usage): I paid $16.12 (3%) more (over the past 3 months period), to get $300 cash.

I would say to make your own calculation. I just input rates, discount etc. in my spreadsheet and it immediately compares with my current usage. That's how I decided to join EA, probably will choose another supplier soon.

Edit: I didn't downvote you, just provided my comment. I just think everybody should make their own comparison.
Edit2: It's technically $200 cash (cashrewards) and $100 in credit on your bill with EA

      • you wanna share your spreadsheet template at all?

  • If I am already with EA for electricity but switch my gas over from Simply Energy, will I still get the cashback if they link my gas and electricity accounts? Or are they considered separate accounts?

thanks Op. have applied, now let's see!

  • Would strongly recommend against Energy Australia, their heights of their incompetence is truly stunning!
