they have the same brand tattooed on the side, however the specs look different? could this be a fake? or vice versa.
edit: post editing fail
They are lying about the usual price. This is the usual price.

I'd + that. seen it going for around $6.99 in ebay.
I ordered one last week (normal price). Definitely $8.99 is NOT a special. But it's a bit cheaper than DX
At 3W from a 1.5V battery, current draw will be approx. 2amps. At 2 Amps, a 2000mAH battery will last … 1 hour. It is cheap but there are a lot better torches for (a lot) more money.
i really doubt this cheap light has a driver that will drive the led fully @2amps! like tzk said a 3.7v cell will give more light than a 1.5v AA
These can run 14500 sized lithiums, and is the only way you're likely to see the reported 200 lumens.
Can someone recommend a good little torch?
THIS one is a great little torch - read the reviews on Deal Extreme about it

What is the differences between that one and the one in the OP?
I am planning on using AA/AAA batteries.
This will be confiscated, it has the laser symbol on it….
Warning plus potential criminal record… O_O?Take the sticker off.
Im pretty suer there's no laser diode. Just a high powered LED
These are fun, I bought a few off DX a while ago for $9.20 (http://www.dealextreme.com/p/sipik-sk68-cree-q3-wc-120-lumen…)
Their claim that it is usually ~$17 is a bit false, but it is cheaper I guess, the torch is small, very bright, and fun. Chews through battery though.
