  • I have Telstra post paid. Can I port in retaining my number, then port out at the end of the month to boost?

    • +1

I have done this many times in past

  • What towers do they use? Telstra, Optus or Vodafone?

  • Cheers, any idea on how to transfer my number when the sim arrives? It asks about porting my number when you sign up. But I don't want to have to wait until the sim arrives? I'd rather the sim arrive then port my number over.

    • +1

I don't think it'll port until you get the sim.. pretty unreasonable otherwise.

      • Yeah I hope so, a few comments on other posts says it activates within 3 days. But they credit you the days you haven't used until the sim arrives.

        • +1

Yes that's the problem with Amaysim. It's activated when you order/ships and then depending on AusPost mercy, you could be short changed. They will credit you when you contact them but it's a hassle.

          • +6

@bajirao: Just say you are porting when signing up. Doesn't mean you actually have to port, it's just a way to stop the problem

            • @Arthur Dunger: Yes and if one is lucky then Amaysim will detect the first time you are using SIM and reset the clock :)

              • +2

@bajirao: The sim won't come activated if you do this, so there is no need for them to reset it.

                • @Arthur Dunger: Ok so to stop Amaysim activating the SIM before shipping it, you say you're going to port. But….

                  a) When the SIM arrives, can you then port a different number to the one you entered when ordering?
                  b) Or can you take a random number, or do the 'choose-a-number' thing when the SIM arrives? Or are you locked into porting now?

                  • @[Deactivated]: From my experience, yes to both.

Porting to a different number is a bit tricky because the number you entered when ordering will be pre-loaded on the activation page (to send the verification sms). You need to go back a step to be able to change it.
                    But it's definitely possible.

I just select port and give a fake number when ordering and then later decide if I want to port or activate a new number.

                    • @lorikeet: Thanks. So you can just click in the field and type over the number? Or do you have to phone and ask them to change it?

  • do they still have PAYG plans for after the 28 days?

    • +2

Yes after plan expires and you are not on auto-renewal. It goes to PAYG.

  • Does Amaysim support VOLTE calls?

    • Think only optus direct get VoLTE

      • Spintel which is another Optus reseller has enabled VOLTE recently

        • Does Spintel have VoWIFI?

  • +2

I have come to the realisation that the visual voicemail feature that is included with Kogan Mobile is not something I ever want to do without.

Guys… guys… if ya got an iphone.. and you go with kogan (or a provider with visual voicemail activated), then you never have to call a number to hear a voicemail, it's just all there in the voicemail tab, you just click play!

Does anyone know of what other prepaid providers have visual voicemail that I could dart to for a couple months, and then back to kogan mobile? Wouldn't mind amaysim if it had that.

  • Ah man I just bought this before seeing this cash back. Can I buy another one with the cash back and leave the other one for 2 months later? I’m transferring my number though. Does anyone know if this would work?

    • +1

If you mean activating the cashback SIM sooner and leaving the non cashback SIM, that can work (not sure about them being the same number though).

Amaysim allow 3 months for activation of mobile SIMs (cashback is 30 days though).

      Under 3.3.2:

You must activate your amaysim SIM card within a period of three months from purchase. If you do not activate your amaysim SIM card in this period it may be cancelled.

      • yeah nah, it wouldnt work. What I did was live chatted to Amaysim to cancel the sim I bought with no cashback. They said I'd get a full refund. Then after that go through Cashrewards to purchase a new sim with cashback.

      • Interesting. I bought one Amaysim $50 starter pack from Coles recently, and it says "Activate within 12 months of purchase."

  • Is Amaysim easy to cancel like Kogan mobile and catch connect?

    • +1

Yes. Go to dashboard, cancel auto renewal

    • When I signed up I opted to pay using auto debit through Paypal and didn't give them any credit card info. If you do the same you can just login to Paypal before the next payment is due and turn off auto debit.

  • +1

Anyone know long this offer would likely be up for

  • -1

Does Amaysim have same port back limitation as Kogan Mobile does? Kogan is restricting port out and in interval to be more 60 days.

    • Did they change it from 30 days to 60 days now?

    • +1

Where did you get this information?

    • I moved back to kogan after 31 days yesterday so this information is incorrect.

  • +2

I like amaysim. Very good deals and their customer service good from my experience with them. Would jump on this but I already got that other $3 offer

    • what other $3 plans you got?

      • The $3 offer expired 31st Oct @ 11:59pm

        • Amaysim or other company?

  • +1

$3.60 for 65GB and $4.50 for 80GB as well (after CB).

    • Can you post your maths?

      65GB plan = $12 minus $6.30 = $5.70
      80GB plan = $15 minus $6.30 = $8.70

      Or did I miss something?

      • +1

        u missing something big.
        wearing crocs to count. ;)
        65gb = $12 minus $8.40 = $3.60
        80gb = $15 minus $10.50 = $4.50

        • +1

          Thanks. Found them.

  • Is this PERMANENT?

Or is this Temporary, and if so, When does it end???

  • Anyone know how long I'm going to receive the SIM (I'm in Sydney)? Order one on Sunday and received an email this morning that it's on the way.

    • Not in Sydney but IIRC Amaysim took 3 days longer than Kogan which for me takes about 9 days.

    • Just get one from Coles or any store for $2

  • Heard that Amaysim has sold the customer base back to Optus. Mentioned in another forum topic.

  • Just went to Coles and got one

    • This cashback deal isn't available through Coles though.

  • Thanks for the deal OP. My brother who was banned from Tinder tried to use my mobile number which got me banned from the app. Now I can resume swiping for under $3 with this new SIM 🤣

  • So can we sign up for one month then cancel at a cost of $3?

    • Yes

  • +1

Ordered a week ago and SIM still hasn't arrived.

    • Now it's 8 business days since I ordered and still no SIM. Where are they sending from?

      • I think Amaysim is Sydney based. Previously 3 days for me.

        • I'm from Sydney. Support told me to wait till 13/Nov.

Most of my stuff from Amazon US were arrived here faster than this.

    • Same here. My SIM from another deal was dispatched on 2 Nov and still not arrived today.

    • Still waiting dispatch on 2nd Nov. contacted them via email was told to buy $2 replacement sim or wait.

      • It would be good if anyone actually received it reports here.

      • Yes, I'll pickup one from Coles tomorrow. 10 business days and no SIM.

        • Delivered today in NSW.

      • same, dispatched on 2nd, received on 17th, ~ 2 weeks in Sydney.

      • If you buy a $2 SIM will the cashback still apply?

  • I'm currently with Amaysim 28days x 4 deal expiring sometime Feb 2021. As this is available for existing customers, does anyone know how I buy this plan and TOP UP with it on the existing plan - I want to use it after 28days x 4 expires. Is it possible?

    • No, new customers only. You stay with another Telco for 28/30 days on a cheap starter plan and return to Amaysim as a new customer.

  • Does cashback stack with referral?

  • Ordered and only received today.
Sent message through the contact page and they reset the renewal to the 18/12.

  • Just placed an order. Cashrewards Estimated Approval Date is 08/02/2021. Does that mean porting out of Amaysim before then means no cashback?
