Int’l to AU Mains Travel Adaptor $1/Twin Pack Double Adaptor $3/Dual USB Adaptor $5 @ Target (In-store Only)

1310

I was in Target Launceston City and found quite a few items on the clearance shelf in the electronics section had been reduced even further. I couldn’t find any of them on the web site, though, so I’ll try to give as detailed a description as possible. All of them are Target-branded, with white writing on plain clear plastic boxes and brown cardboard packaging like you see in the photo.

There were 6-8+ of each on the shelf when I saw them today. Check your local store, they may have lots or none.

Inbound travel adapter - US/UK plug to AU/NZ, for anyone coming into Australia - $1

Twin pack of mains power double adaptors - flat, horizontal style (sorry, I didn’t note orientation) - $3

Dual USB power adaptor - a single vertical mains power pass-through plug that has two USB charging ports on it - $5

Outbound international USB charger - a simple world-voltage USB charger with several interchangeable tips to suit other country sockets - $10

  • Why does the shelf label say 'UK'?
    🤷‍♂️
    Good job, OP

  • These are chunky but good quality.

Buy one and pack an Australian powerboard.

    • Always this. I always travelled with a four port power strip with two USB points, made things so much easier.

How did an inbound adaptor help in this situation?

I read it the other way around as conveying Australian plugs to international points, as obviously did the person I replied to.

But that was clear from our comments, so how did yours help in this situation?

    • You'd only get two of the four sockets in. They are tlvery wide

  • how are the quality of these target brand items, might get some.

at least they meet AS/NZS compared to the crap you buy on eBay which would fail miserably

      • thats good enough for me :D
        thanks

  • Anyone found the same deal in WA?

  • Well done op. Nice find

  • Is it nationwide?

    • No idea. I couldn’t find any on the web site, and even a couple of items I listed had higher prices on the tickets. I had to scan each one at the price checker to see what they actually were.

  • Damm, just bought 3 of these yesterday for $5 a pop

  • Silly question:

Say you use this travel adapter to use a rice-cooker which you've bought from UK. Could you possibly void your home insurance?

    • I don’t see how. That would basically mean that anyone having o/s guests (using their gadgets from home) nullify their insurance (!)
Wife and I share a tooth brush charger. On the Rare occasions that we both need to recharge over the same period, I pull out a US-pronged toothbrush charger that I bought for our travels and deploy a plug adapter. I think it would be ludicrous to suggest that we’re not covered during that period

      • I wouldn't be surprised actually, as we live in a nanny state…

      • Depends on the supported voltage and frequency of the device. If it doesn't support 240V@50Hz, then don't use one of these adaptors. If it does, then should be no problems.

There's a buy 1 get 1 half price at Target so I got 3 for $2.50. They did originally try to charge $15 for them but my near identical photo got that sorted.

90% certain there were some OzBargainers eyeballing me on the escalator.

    • will they price match other targets? my local one have theres for 5$…
but the buy 1 get 1 half price promotion

      • It'll be $5 everywhere because the label is for the UK adapter and not the universal. You're welcome to try.

First weekend out of lockdown, went for a long walk hoping to get some of these at Target Camberwell, only to find Target Camberwell no longer exists (soon to become a Kmart).

    • Thanks for the heads up - thats a real shame

  • Target Melbourne has them but they scan at $5

  • I went and they said the sticker id and the id on the unit were different, so no deal.
The UK -> AU and US -> AU are apparently $1, but the "universal", which is both UK/US -> AU is $5.
They also had no stock of the $1 units - would have bought 2 of each if they had them…
This was at Doncaster Target in Victoria.

    • That's unfortunate. I looked at the stock code on the box and matched it with the one on the shelf tag, and they matched. Otherwise, I'd have mentioned that in the post.

  • Same for me in Vic - $5 on the shelf for the Universal
