Dell G7 17 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7-10750H 16GB 512GB SSD RTX 2070 MaxP 144Hz, now for $1888 after discount. Been looking to buy this laptop, but people here says to avoid it because of many reasons.

Yes apparently it overheats and throttles like crazy.

    • Apparently the latest BIOS in September fixed this issue. You can also lower the wattage in addition to further drop the heat which throttles the speed. That is if you want to put the effort in. :)

      • You reckon to buy?

      • With the last BIOS you can t lower the wattage anymore ! And you can t downgrade the BIOS ! I hate Dell for this last BIOS upsate

Great on spec, not so great in real life.

  • I'm looking for a desktop so I'm just browsing the dell store and most of the items are overpriced

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-8940-Tower-Desktop-10th…

$1799 and all it has 1650? wow really?

    • You missed the 20% discount profanity lol

  • "The voucher can't the applied to your order". I keep getting this error for any item I try to buy.

  • Student of mine got this laptop. Returned it after a month as it was over heating and throttling like crazy.

The prices are sh1t, like they want $3k (after coupon) for a 10th gen XPS 13 (16gb/512gb) whereas the 11th gen (also 16Gb/512Gb) is $2549 right now on dell.com.au lol

    • i bought a vostro last year and build quality is pretty sh1t,

there was a tiny dent on unboxing, and rubber feet are falling off now, lost forever.. gonna have to buy extra feet or something, or but still in warranty.. idk?

    • Isn't the 11th Gen XPS13 you've found from Dell.com.au for $2,549 a lower price of $2,399.20 on Ebay?

  • Currently posting on a Dell XPS. All i can say is do not purchase one of these laptops. They are junk!

    • Yup. I had an Xps 17 and returned it for a multitude of issues. Friend got an Xps 15, came out of the box with screen lines on the display.

And tried Dell one last time by getting the M17 R3. Also returned within a month. Spent weeks on the phone with tech support trying to fix the issues it had (I loved the look and keyboad on it, just bad software and other issues).

Dell needs to get ontop of its QC.

      • How did you go returning your XPS 17? I've had my XPS 15 since March and now have 2 issues with it.

        • My friend returned her XPS 15 with relative ease since it was straight out of the box bugging. My XPS 17 took a little bit longer. If you've had issues and its now 6 months down the track, you could try for a return claiming Australian Consumer law but unless you've broached the issue with them early on, they might just try and fix it. Good luck!

  • the deal was like there forever, don't see the point of posting.

  • My mate got a high end i7 Dell about a year ago and it's amazingly fast… can't remember the specs exactly think 16g and 512 SSD but yeah fan us v noisy too.. so is my HP i7 x360 from a cpl years ago… Even my 2 yr old i7 8gr ram, 256g Lenovo… In this day and age wtf can't they get these dumb over noisy fans to chill the F out? Happens even when it's cold /air temp. Not like a 35c summer day!? And light usage ie just browsing! None are used for gaming or anything full on…

  • Just got the XPS 17, saved over a grand compared to Dell direct which is great! Still expensive but still saving a grand is fantastic, right place right time!
Should keep my wife happy, bit of an upgrade from her 6 year old probook!

  • Far out, wanted to buy 2x Xps 8940 for work yesterday and today it’s over! I’m upset!
