I will wait for the day Amex is accepted. :)

    • -1

Why bother, just use any other normal card that doesn't have exorbitant fees and is accepted anywhere, unlike an Amex where it's a constant hit or miss.

Incoming “ShopBack can’t be trusted with my data” comments…

      • +1

Yeah, already copy and paste but still an error

        • Check that it's an "O" and not zero after 29 (ie the only two numbers in the code). Made the same boo boo.

    • +2

Once you've redeemed it the code, you can refer to the "Challenges" tab under Earn More to see the offer (you might need to scroll to the bottom). If you try to redeem the code again it'll come up with a message saying it doesn't exist.

nah, it showed the error message the 1st time I entered the code.

        • +3

          • @gotyourback: I've got the same issue. It says that "This code does not exist".
When I follow your link it just takes me to Google Play with your App.
And then when I open the app and enter the code I get the same message.

@bob19: Do you see the offer under your Challenges? May need to scroll to the bottom

Already cancelled my account after the data breech.

    • +9

      Thanks for letting us know

      • +2

You're welcome. Feel free to do the same.

    • Should have cancelled it before the breach. Would have been more useful :)

  • +1

any drawbacks to using doordash gift card? no cashback i guess (if it comes back)

  • +1

Any plans to not use SMS as 2FA?

  • +3

Online gift card (exchanged for ebay gift card) = $2 bonus + $2.50 normal cashback = 9% off $50 ebay gift card.

    • The catch is that it's sold out.

      • +2

We still have stock of the TCN Online cards, but if you're ordering directly with TCN then they're sold out.

  • +1

What can u use the The Restaurant Card on? Doesnt have any description

    • Only accepted restaurants.

      • That does not help…

It says "This gift card can be used at restaurants and cafes that accept eftpos"

Does that mean its pretty much a visa/mastercard?

        • +4

Should really just be restaurants/cafes that take card. And yeah you're essentially buying a digital Mastercard to use on Google/Apple Pay.

Just a note it's probably better to buy it directly from TCN as there's 5% cashback and 10% off with code SHOP10 (expiring 31/10). But note that ordering directly from TCN won't qualify you for this $2 bonus (as the bonus is just for purchases directly with us).

          • +3

@gotyourback: Im guessing it be pretty much impossible to request split payments from restaurants. Especially with remaining balances

          • +1

@gotyourback: So how do they know it's a restaurant and why can't I use it directly at any shop?

          • +1

@gotyourback: Also looking for the expiry date on the virtual ones. Says to check online but not sure where?

            • +1

@neezy: Should be 3 years from when you activate.

  • +5

Didn't know you could use your rewards balance to pay for gift cards. I like it's a very nice great success!

  • It’s saying “this code does not exist” for me?

  • can you pay with apple pay?

    • +1

At this stage nope, just direct Mastercard/Visa.

  • +5

    Not happy with Shopback's service!
    2018 Welcome Bonus still pending
and some of my earnings says Expired

    • You still keep track of a cashback from 2018?

      • +3

        @fuzor
Yes, poor service unfortunately compared with Cash-rewards

    • -5
      • Bonuses remain pending until you earn $10 worth of regular cashback (not bonus cashback) from purchases, and you add withdrawal details to your account
      • Earnings expire if there is no activity on your account for a period of 1 year (ie. no purchases on your account). 30 days and 60 days before expiry, a reminder email would have also been sent out.
  • +1

Dear OP, my cashback from last TCN 7% cashback deal has not been tracked yet, its been 5 days now. can you tell me how much should I wait?

    • Account email : [email protected]
      order number : TCN6771

      • +6

Not sure posting email address on the forum is wise, makes an easy spam target….though after the shopback breach it's already out there anyway ;)

        • +4

You replied to the blog meaning he can't edit haha.

    • -3

Should be up to 2 days. You can submit your details through this form for the team to process: https://www.shopback.com.au/account/missingcashback

  • Done, barely any delay in getting the GC, and it was easy to remove my cc from the app afterwards.

  • +18

    Hey shopback,

Any updates on your website leak of customer data and reports that Shopbck customers are being targetted by scammers?

Just wanted to see if you're still ignoring ozbargain customer questions on this or not, considering you think you can continue to market yourselves here.

    • +3

What sort of update do you expect? A second apology?

I have a feeling that nothing will be good enough for some people.

      • +1

I agree, some people will never be happy.

Assume ALL businesses will Leak your private data in all cases.

Shopback already leaked your data and it will happen again and again with them, so only use PayPal or cheque or Cash with Shopback.

Never give Shopback your credit card number!

      • -1

What sort of update do you expect? A second apology?

Hmm they could start by replying to customer questions. It is not very respectful to go through a thread and selectively reply to marketing questions but ignore all customer questions about the hack.

And you know… how about an update on whether they are familiar with any customer being data being used by malicious third parties? We know it has been and they are deliberately hiding this.

Don't you think it would be nice to give unsuspecting customers a warning that their data is actively being used by hackers so customers can prepare themselves, re-evaluate their security practices, prepare for unknown emails and calls????

        • +1

Hmm they could start by replying to customer questions.

They are ex-customers at best, and berating the store rep over and over isn't the way to go about it.

You're making some pretty wild assumptions here. Have you tried asking for an update by emailing them as suggested in their customer notice email?

        • +2

And you know… how about an update on whether they are familiar with any customer being data being used by malicious third parties? We know it has been and they are deliberately hiding this.

          exactly how do you know?
Spammers dont announce where the data came from
And its unlikely in this day that your data has only been scraped or breached from shopback and no-one else.

If anything, its possible shopback's leak, if its made its way to the 'dark web' list of purchasable/obtainable details, added an additional confirmation of some details which might make it more attractive to spammers, but to claim with 100% certainty that any recent spam or sms is 100% solely and wholly due to shopback seems a stretch.. and thats what you're asking shopback to publicly claim… (not sure what benefit them announcing it would make to you or them either way)

          • -3

            @SBOB:

            exactly how do you know?

There is a big ozbargain thread on it, matey.

Spammers dont announce where the data came from

Can you spend 5 seconds to even read the replies in this thread? People found out when they receive spam emails and calls.

            • +2

@watwatwat: I've read the thread… also a shopback customer so my details would be in the leak… 'matey'

again, 100% certainty, zero chance of details from other leaks/scrapes/breaches?
and.. what benefit would announcing that make?

              • -2

                @SBOB:

again, 100% certainty, zero chance of details from other leaks/scrapes/breaches?

Ok so if they're 99% sure, it's not 100% sure so it is great best practice to send one email at 10pm friday and then never update customers again as the situation develops.

what benefit would announcing that make?

Silence from shopback definitely helps all customers stay informed and learn, helps customer's adapt their security practices etc.

what benefit would announcing that make?

And yet why did they announce it in the first place that they don't think customer's data has been used?? If it's so valueless, as you say, they still decided to do this.

                • +5

@watwatwat: Mate you're using a service that track your clicks and purchasing history, if you care about privacy, don't use these services

Just purchased a Doordash gift card, didn’t work.
Had to chat/call Doordash and they said the gift card number wasn’t active, and they are looking into the issue and should get back to me within 24 hours. A hassle, and purchased for lunch today which I couldn’t use it for. Disappointing.

    • +2

Just did the same thing. Talking to doordash now. Disappointing to say the least

      • +3

Received a reply back from DoorDash saying
“Thank you for reaching out to us today regarding your DoorDash Gift Card. After reviewing your account, the gift card is reflecting as already redeemed. If you believe this is in error, please contact the Merchant you purchased the gift card with for more information regarding this gift card.”

WHAT?! I haven’t used the gift card at all.
Anyone know how to contact ShopBack about this?

        • +2

          Shopback only has email support.

I believe they are located in INDIA, so you can't visit them in person.

      • If you haven't already yet could you email [email protected] with your code, and then send through a PM here with your email address? Will get the team to check with DoorDash as soon as they can.

    No thanks, gotyourhackback

ShopBack - once bitten, twice shy. You guys cannot be trusted.

"To date, we have no reason to believe that any of your personal data has been misused"

Now read this in a Borat voice and wink a few times as you say it, and that will be more accurate.

  • +19

No thanks, still dealing with the online casino and bitcoin emails.

    • +1

      Same. Lol.

  • +2

Came here to see the neggers vs rep fight. Don't have shopback. Do have popcorn.

  • +25

Hey ShopBack - how are you going with your astroturfing of review sites with 5-star reviews?

You've done a great job on ProductReview and TrustPilot but I see Google Maps has started removing the fake reviews.

    My heart bleeds, of course.
