I've been using these for a while now. Very comfy, I sometimes forget I have them on. Great sound, and pretty good mic. The only problem I have is the power button. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    • My first world problem with my artics 7's with the volume scroll wheel and when im wearing a hoodie + puffer vest combo. The puffer vest collar raises the hoodie a bit and sometimes when i turn my head the volume scroll wheel brushes the hoodie and adjusts the volume lol.

Other than that very comfy and great sound

    • Does the Mic use 2.4ghz wireless or HFP/HSP bluetooth?

      • I'm pretty sure it's 2.4ghz, but don't quote me on that.

  • -4

This is not the 2019 series one.

Just came here to say I've had this headset for over a year now and it's been brilliant. Great clear sound, super comfy, great mic, and the Steelseries software is pretty good too with loads of options / settings (PC for me).

  • Is there any way you can make these work on Xbox?

I have the Arctis 9X that is designed for the Xbox but have serious issues with interference and connecting to PC, Bluetooth etc.

    • +1

There is a model that is compatible with the Xbox, called Arctis 7X.
I just got one, only available from the Steelseries website directly, around $266AUD delivered.

It works with Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/5, Switch, iPad, PC, Mac, Android.
      Pretty happy with it.

  • +5

Personally I'm waiting on the Arctis 7X for full Xbox/PlayStation/PC support.

    • I concur and share similar emotion, waiting for 7x and 9x au stock/au warranty. Compatible for next gen + pc.

      Both have excellent reviews everywhere.

      • Is the 9x compatible with PC?

        • Yes, but not via Bluetooth.
The 9x needs the Xbox controller adapter and has interference issues

      • +7

Don’t wait for them to be available locally, buy direct from steelseries. Use coupon code WACKY12 for 12% off. My 7X set came in 4 days via DHL express shipping! And I’ve seen several others get them in the same time, Came to $260 delivered. The cheapest this old 7 series is available for locally from in store is $300. Can guarantee the 7X is going to be more like $350+. As far as warranty they provide a global warranty and is covered by local warranty regulations https://support.steelseries.com/hc/en-us/articles/221391568-…

    • Any benefit in the new X/P models apart from the smaller USB-C receiver?

      • +2

Yes, the X model works on all consoles and PC wirelessly. The 7 and 7P are pretty much the same.

        • Thanks.

I guess for someone that was only ever going to use it on a PC there is no real benefit.

  • i'm hoping these go a little lower on black friday

  • +3

Little confused about how they claim these are 'Lossless': Do the headphones have a DAC inside of them? Can't find any specs on this besides the standard advertising claims. 24 hours battery life is a hefty claim if it does have a DAC built-in.

  • Wernt these $170 earlier in the year?
It's close the Black Friday sales to.

  • what is the range on this anyone know?
I tend to wander 20-30m away from the computer sometimes be nice if I could still hear the audio and continue on

    • not sure about 30m, but I walk probably 20m with 3 walls between and can still hear and talk

      • nice probably good enough, thanks for the reply

    • I walk down the hall to my kitchen (maybe 10m?) to make food it is okay, when I move from the line of sight around the corner tho it cuts out

  • Can anyone vouch for these on PS4? i remember reading a review which said it was fantastic on PC but average on PS4. I like the look of the 7P/X but guessing it'll be over $260 here.

    • +1

You can get the 7X, which is the Xbox version but works with PS4/5 as well, for about $268 delivered from Steelseries directly.
Unless you hate the look of the 7X it would make the most sense to get them, as they cost the same as the 7P and do more.

  • I love these headphones.
Had a pair that broke like a month past my 2-year warranty.
Steelseries hooked me up with a replacement.

    • What broke which resulted in a replacement ? My plastic around the area that swiveled the head set broke, wondering if it's worth asking if they will fix / replace.

      • Just randomly stopped turning on.

Funnily after emailing a few times I had to 'destroy' the headphones, by snapping one of the earcups off in a specific way(basically where you mentioned). It was actually really really hard to snap it off

  • +1

I picked up the newer version of these (Arctis 7x)

As far as quality goes, better than any other gaming headset I've used. Compared to a non-gaming headset (ATH-M50x for example), they're pretty average.

Still decent though. They just don't compete with a real headset but what gaming headset does?

Edit: I should point out that I've only tested them wirelessly and only on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. Still need to properly test on PC and wired.

  • Can vouch for these headsets, have had mine for 5 months and very happy with them. Mostly used for gaming and virtual calls for work and have them on nearly 10hrs a day as of late. Happy to answer any questions for PC usage if anyone has any.

    • How long does it take to charge? And I assume charging is via USB c to a?

      • +1

Micro-USB TO USB A on my model. Don't think this changed for the 2019 edition but could be wrong.

      • Takes roughly an hour to charge fully via the USB-A to Micro USB cable provided when connected to my PC.

    • Can this be charged and used at the same time?

      • +1

Yup sure can, it simply becomes a wired headset when charging.

  • Anyone know when and where I can get the arctis 9 (not 9x). Been waiting forever for them

  • +1

I have the pro wireless and their great in terms of sounds, but as most headsets they are plastic fantastic and after only a year of wear mine cracked.

  • Not a bad price but it was released in 2018 (and was $158 on 31/12/2019).

  • +2

Is there a headset out there that won’t leave you with the headset indent on your head?

    • +3

      yeah, airpods

    • -1

If you mean from the solid part resting across the top of your head? These are effective because of the material band being what rests against your head, rather than the frame.

  • +2

Used these for 2 years. As others have said, awesome headset, but I wanted to add one major problem: the irreplaceable battery. My battery life now has probably gone from 24 hours to about 10 maybe a bit more. This is with roughly 1500-2000 hours of use out of the headset. If you game a lot, I'd highly recommend spending your money on a quality wired headset such as HyperX. I'm trying to sell this set now (upgrading to a proper audio setup with 58X and Evo 4) and it's near impossible with its decreased battery life. Companies like this that sell high end products such as these should be forced to design it with a replaceable battery imo, otherwise you have to chuck it out within a few years.

    • have you tried contacting SS RMA team if they acknowledge your issue? I've had couple interactions with their RMA team and it's worked out well so far

      • It's well out of warranty so I figured there'd be no point but I'll have a go thanks.

  • I just swapped from these to Corsair Virtuoso SE's. These are a good choice and very comfortable for gaming I just found that they are not loud enough even at max volume. YMMV.

    • How are the Virtuoso SEs stacking up in comparison?

      • Sound is phenomenal and they are a quality item, very, very well made.. Only niggle is the bizarre charging system. Very pricey though.

  • I like mine I've had for a couple of years, I don't find the 3d sound that good and the bass isn't great for music.. but otherwise good headset.

  • This or HyperX Cloud Alpha/Flight? Solely used for gaming

  • Very uncomfortable headphones, the band stretches so much then doesn't fasten. The metal rests on your head due to the angles. Sound isn't great either, almost max for normal listening. Whilst you don't need much bass for gaming, it's really poor anyway. The mic however is great, used them for work and was told how sexy I sounded. I definitely would not recommend, will go back to the PS headphones for PS5.

    • The metal rests on your head due to the angles

      Hmm, not in my case?

    • Someone finally speaking sense, they're awful

  • Had the arctis 7 pro on PC and it simply didn't have enough volume. My brother, friend and I all tried it and it didn't get nearly loud enough. Maybe do some research before hand if you're interested.

  • This headset is aids. It falls off my head constantly and I don't understand how anyone can enjoy wearing them. Sound is fine.

  • +1

I grabbed a set of these last month. They're INCREDIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE if you have slightly large ears, to the point I could not have them on for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Slightly annoyed at my purchase and what I thought was a waste of money I tried to salvage the situation, and thankfully it did pay off.

I ended up grabbing some Wicked Cushion ear pads off amazon for $25 and I now love these headphones. Great sound, no connectivity or interference issues, the ability to mix voice (discord) and whatever else I'm doing at any time on the headphones themselves is remarkably useful, and of course they're now remarkably comfortable.

Anyway, hope this info helps someone with large ears who ends up taking the gamble.

  • Anything comparable for half this price?
