Pity we don't have OzB t-shirts to wear to things like this so that we can give a subtle nod to a fellow shrewd shopper and then point them towards freebies, etc that they have spotted on the day.

Cheers and keep the black side down.

PS - I have checked the Rep box because I work for QBE, and they are the major sponsor. However I want OzB'ers to be assured that I do not have any control or influence over the pricing or the offer. It is simply that staff were made aware of this coupon if they wished to purchase tickets.

Australia's largest and most comprehensive motorcycle showcase returns to Sydney with a new name and new venue this November. The Sydney Motorcycle and Scooter Show will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, from the 25th to the 27th of November. The CBD location makes the show's scooter element especially significant as more and more people discover the economic and time-saving benefits of two-wheel travel in the city

Scooters were a standout in the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries' (FCAI) recent first-quarter sales figures which show signs of an emerging recovery. FCAI Chief Executive Andrew McKellar said the Sydney Motorcycle and Scooter Show played an important role in stimulating industry interest and felt the new venue would provide additional impact. "The new venue is well chosen, giving people the opportunity to see at first hand, and in one place, what is available in the market for inexpensive fuel-wise transport that is growing in popularity both in Australia and overseas", Mr McKellar said.

In addition to indoor exhibits, the show will also make use of the venue's surrounding areas for live action demonstrations and motorcycle test rides.

The burgeoning adventure bike category is one expected to draw plenty of interest and enquiry at the 2011 Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show, 25-27 November at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

At home on the trails or the open road, adventure bikes are designed for travel. Larger fuel tanks mean they can go further for longer, and comfort isn’t compromised thanks to longer suspension which absorbs impact on uneven surfaces. Plentiful storage makes the destination dependent only on imagination, with a range of side panniers, tank bags and top boxes available. A fast-growing factory and after-market accessories range allows the rider to select from countless customisation options, from luxury items to extra bike protection.

This week’s event will showcase a variety of adventure bike offerings from major manufacturers.

BMW is widely touted as encouraging the category’s growth with its original R 80 GS, built over 3 decades ago. “BMW created the adventure bike market over 30 years ago with the revolutionary R 80 GS and the GS range remains a integral part of the BMW Motorcycle line up,” said Miles Davis, Marketing Manager Motorrad, BMW Group Australia. “It’s almost like the GS was created for Australian conditions and that’s one of the main reasons for such a strong growth within its class.”

The continuing success of Triumph’s Tiger 800 and Tiger 800 XC is further proof of the categories growth. “While there was some anticipation for Triumph’s new adventure duo to impact competitor sales it seems Triumph’s entry into the segment has also further increased the segment’s national sales figures,” said Darren Kersey, Marketing Co-ordinator, PS Importers. “Triumph has just recently also launched its new Tiger 1200 Explorer and there are positive signs already that the larger capacity tourer is likely to be another huge hit.”

Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Ducati are just some of the other brands offering an adventure bike option to enthusiasts, with a full line-up of new models ready for show in Sydney.

Visitors can also check out exhibitors offering the full adventure experience, such as Aussie-based motorcycle touring company Compass Expeditions. Its Patagonia Explorer tour was recently named in National Geographic’s ‘Top 50 tours of a lifetime’, and was the only motorcycle tour company in the world to make the list. As well as leading tours at home, it offers touring options through South America, South Africa, Eastern Europe, Turkey and Cambodia, and its customer-oriented focus has made it a favourite with riders of all ages and experience levels.

Sydney’s iconic landmarks will line the Darling Harbour backdrop of a spectacular series of two-wheel stunt shows at the Sydney Motorcycle and Scooter Show on November 25-27. The open-air Action Arena at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre will feature up to four daily performances from Australia’s most-acclaimed freestyle motocross, stunt bike, mini bike, and trials bike riders.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki Showtime FMX team will fly high above crowds, showcasing the mix of progressive moves that makes it one of the most sought-after entertainment acts nationwide. Backflips, whips, seat grabs and Supermans are just a few of the tricks the team will throw down in their series of unmissable shows.

Closer to the ground the best in the stunt bike business will rev crowds into a frenzy. Harley-Davidson’s Matt Mingay and Triumph Motorcycles’ ‘Lukey Luke’ Follachio will battle to set the benchmark with a series of stoppies, wheelies and more in a display that demands precision, control and supreme skill.

The Brown’s Grafix Mini Bike crew will serve up a freestyle show like no other. A fleet of 50cc mini bikes piloted by adult riders will hit ramps in what is often a show of thrills and spills.

Jack Field and the Flair Entertainment Trials team will take the tempo down a notch to exhibit complete control of a trials motorcycle, maneuvering up and over seemingly impassable objects in a jaw-dropping display of strength and balance.

Event Manager Mark Petersen said the shows were a ‘must-see’ at the 2011 Sydney Motorcycle and Scooter Show. “We’ve assembled the best in the business for what is shaping up to be an exciting show at this incredible venue in the heart of Sydney,” said Petersen. “The Action Arena is always a crowd pleaser and we feel like we’ve packed it with the best lineup of talent yet with FMX, stunt, mini bikes and trials all represented at the highest level.”

These attractions feature alongside a complete range of exhibits from all of the major motorcycle manufacturers.
