Might have to jump on if the Burnley goes on sale, looks very impressive for a locally made watch!
Why not pick up a Seiko or a similar Japanese model? Look quite similar, maybe even better performance.
Seiko overpriced nowadays, also it's not an NH35, I prefer microbrands now with Seiko going way upmarket. For the same spec on Seiko (sapphire crystal, solid end links, level of finishing), Seiko has raised their prices too much and their quality has stayed the same or gotten worse. For the same price, Japanese brands have way worse specs, I want to love Seiko (and I still do love their designs), but the price is too much to swallow for the watch you're getting.
Seiko Alpinists often go on sale for $699, made in japan with a 6r35 moment. Blows the MWC made in china with miyota movement out of the water.
@acidantics: I don't get what's wrong with made in China, have plenty of things from China with better machining and quality than stuff made in America or Japan or something. Plenty of great Microbrands, Helm, Zelos which have much better finish and machining than Seiko! Also not really much Gerald Genta style designs coming from Japan. Although I do like the Alpinist, they're overpriced, the SARB017 was a good buy when it was $300-400 and I have one myself (SPB089), the new Prospex ones are over $900, $699 is without bracelet and not the more desirable colours black and green. I think Seiko was a good buy back when SARB035's were $300-400 but now they're a bit too rich for my blood. Got a SARX045 and SARX055 but ended up selling because they didn't feel like they were really worth it to me, especially with the SARX055 only having a 6R15 in that price bracket. I think my money is better spent on Zelos watches but that's my own take.
website is fried
Are they made in Melbourne yet or still made in "Asia" and inspected in Melbourne?
