Yes, I don't understand the fascination with negative displays; supposedly form over function.
MS standards for Military Series and the "selling point" of the red LCD is to preserve your night version.
I believe there's 3 models with the red LCD in the MS series.
Perfect for keyboard warriors to sneak up on their keyboards at night :)

No, that's just marketing.
Take it from someone with 11 G-Shocks plus a few Edifice/Protek models; negative or inverted LCDs are good for nothing in anything other than direct overhead lighting (aside from the very expensive, newer generation full-face LCD dot-matrix displays like those in the latest Rangeman and G-Squad models).
Not sure if its a great deal as it is showing only about $10 in saving, but you can add in the $15 off with code PRIME15 for prime users.
I strongly recommend going for the G-5600E instead. It's actually readable, solar-powered, will last a good 10-20 years without a battery change and the module is a lot more modern than the DW-5600.
Thanks for your insight - I didn't know that. I'm fond of casio (gshock and non gshock) too. I have a dw-5600; it's over 10 years old and still the same battery! I would take your advice though; the display on my 5600 is much dimmer than my other gshocks.
Such a hard face to read, negative LCD in red!
