  • For $1.38 more I'd recommend the My Book 8TB instead. Just for durability. I've seen various sites say that My Book is more durable (it's probably listed on the product). As an owner of several My Books. I can agree they're hardy. I've dropped one (on carpet though) from about 1m high and it survived! I dropped my hand down on the power cable cos I only had it set up temporarily. It sent the poor thing flying. Not sure if read/write head was engaged though. That would generally kill any drive that got thrown to the floor. YMMV

    • Internal drives are the same between the Elements and My Book for the 8TB range. The main difference is encryption and warranty length. I can see why the My Book might potentially be more "durable" there's more space around the drive in the casing in the My Book than the Elements (but very marginally).

That's probably all the difference lol

The encryption is a killer for me. I do not want hardware in/of the enclosure taking care of that.

It's also not only $1.38 more, it's from the UK with ~$20 delivery!

      • It’s showing as free expedited shipping for me.

  • Boom. This will be work well as a spare for my 8TB raid.

    Thanks OP.

  • wish they had front LED bar like previous iteration

  • Forgive me for my ignorance. But are these shuckable to use as an internal drive?

Oh I'm an idiot, he said in the description

  • Would anyone here know if the power supply for this WD drive fit a Seagate expansion desktop drive. I lost my cable/power supply adapter

I'm looking to get this drive for more space and as a replacement cable for my Seagate.

Im hoping it fits if I get this product

They both use the standard 12V plug, so yes they should work with each other. (unless the transformer isn't rated for the different power draw requirements)

    8tb $209.00 = $26.13/tb
    10tb $239.00= $23.90/tb
    12tb $289.99 = $24.17/tb
    14tb $369.00 = $26.36/tb

    10tb is better value

  • Thanks, I literally just lost my other 8tb i just shucked last night. this will be the replacement.

Have you looked under the bed?
