      You could play with a single joycon each on the same console, but it's going to be pretty awkward handling.

      Assuming you have the regular Switch and not the Switch Lite you can play together using the joy cons. Although it's more comfortable with a controller.

      Yes, you need a second controller to play together on the same screen. Don't need to purchase a second copy unless you want to play on two different systems against each other.

      Yes. Each half can either make up one whole controller or split in half as two controllers.

          Hold a single joycon sideways and have a go at using all the buttons. Then hold the two joycons vertically (either in a controller bracket, in your hands, or attached to the switch) and have a go at using all the buttons. You'll likely notice that it's much more comfortable than the single joycon.

    Be prepared to pay an extra $50 on top for the fighter passes. On that note, will the Amiibo unlock the DLC character as well? I own the piranha plant amiibo and plan on getting the Banjo Kazooie one as well, will they unlock the respective DLC characters?

      No they don't.

      Can fight against them and level them up but considering there are easy solutions to fake amiibo Nintendo won't do it.

      No, you have to purchase the fighters pass or buy the characters individually. Piranha Plant is a separate DLC I believe.
