  • great price

  • proper price but most stores have no stock so delivery to be added…

  • Never used latitude, is it like afterpay?

    • +1

More like Zip. An interest-free line of credit basically (so credit check required)

    • Like ZIP money with preapproved 24 months on Apple Store.

  • Nice deal, but I only want the remote. Has anyone located an Australian source for the remote by itself yet?

    • +1

Yeah from an eBay seller. But it's $102.99 delivered. This remote control is not cheap.

    • Was looking for one too but couldnt find one in oz…

      Went for this instead: https://www.amazon.com.au/WeChip-G20-Control-Wireless-Sensin…

      • +1

Yeah well look above. Can get it the official remote control off eBay from Australia.

      • Amazon Canada does not ship to Australia.

        • Then you have to use a shipping forwarder for example Shipito to get it to you. If you can get it shipped from Amazon Canada to say the USA shipping forwarder address then it's fine.

But going by that web page it ships in 1 to 3 weeks.

          • @hollykryten: easier way have a friend in the usa. lots cheaper then paying a shipping company.
We are just getting rooted by Nvidia here in Aus, for the price of the shield itself and the no show of the new style remote yet.

    • Nope, bought 2 at $80 each from a US seller on ebay though. Much prefer the new remotes. 0 issues with setup.

      • At what postage rate and who was the seller?

        • Seller is r0gue0ne. Did get hit with like 12 bucks of import tax though. But product, post and import tax all up was roughly 180ish

  • -3

Or get a kogan credit card, spend $3k in 3 Months and get it for like $50.

  • +1

No interest in singing up to pay service, anyone have a link to the best deal without such nonsense ?

    • Its about $350-$360 in stores and ebay at the moment. Maybe slightly cheaper if you check staticice and can pickup. If you don't need the USB ports better off getting the non-pro though.

    • +1

i believe the cheapest is TGG commercial @ $321 +postage

    • I got mine this week from Retrovision for $330. It's $350 listed with 5% off for being an RAC member.

  • -1

Cheaper at TGG Commercial if you have access, $325

    • +1

It's actually $321 with pickup and $326 with delivery

    • -1

shows $318 for me, so $268 is rly good deal.

      • How to get latitude pay with TGG commercial?

        • Sry my bad, just tried and Lpay is not available onTGGC.

  • +1

Not cheapest I got mine for 288$ few weeks ago from good guys

    • +1

      How's that?

      • probably the 20% off few weeks back..didn't anyone post it ?

      • Got % off and 20$ off using latitude pay

        • +1

Well that's not an every day price nor a price which every one can gain access to. A special targeted price.

  • Would you recommend the tube or the Pro? Mainly for streaming E.g Youtube, Prime, Netflix

    • +1

I don't have the either but i would recommend the pro as i have heard some issues with app compatibility as the non-pro is running 32bit and the pro is on 64bit android TV and some other weird issues.
      https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/01/14/nvidias-shield-tv-d…

    • +2

tube. the only difference pro has over tube is:
      - usb ports (so you can hook up a spare harddrive; which is redundent if you use a NAS anyway)
      - more RAM/which is also why it's 64bit capable which means some games (like 5) are not supported. This is also a moot point if you own a stream pc games using gamestream or steamlink anyway.

      • +5

Wouldn't you want the pro as it is 64bit (backwards compatible with 32bit apps) and has more RAM (to support growing resource hungry apps in the future). I feel these are very important for a device moving forward as most people keep and use their shield for over 3yrs.

        • +3

We're still talking about androidTV apps.
It's ultimately upto the user to make sure they do their research but very few apps on AndroidTV requires that much RAM or require 64bitness.
i'm mainly giving my preference for 'perhaps'' usage given he's stated he's only using streaming services. The tube is overkill for this. TBH a cheapo mibox / vodafone tv would do the trick.

          • @kyoba: I'll look in the tube then, thanks @kyoba. I prefer the shield as it's more reliable than cheaper boxes and has the 4k upscaling. Do you think that spec's of the tube will hold up for at-least 3 years of use? So no major slow downs, or performance issues?

            • +1

@perhaps: Definitely not. The tube uses the tegra chipset, same as pro. This is leaps and bounds faster than the cheap tv boxes. So if you're looking for 4k upscaling and only use streaming apps then honestly the tube is the same as the pro for your use.

If you're looking to run android sideloaded apps that are 64bit (since native androidTV apps do not have any 64bit only applications) or the are 5 games that 64bit only then you may want to consider to pro

              • @kyoba: Appreciate the info and recommendation thanks!

          • @kyoba: I definitely agree with you there it is overkill.
Google announced that in aug21 they'll stop serving non64bit apps to devices that support 64bit (as far as i can see the tube should be able to run 64bit but opt'd for 32bit.) and made 64bit mandatory for future new/updated apps. (up developers to support older devices ).

        • +1

Good point about the extra RAM for future-proofing. Android devices do slow down noticeably over time from OS and app updates etc.

    • +2

Got the pro, and for just streaming it's pretty similar. The big difference is if you want to use it for plex: the pro can handle 4k hdr easily and be your server, while the stick often needs a few tries and can't do every type of file.
I love the pro and don't regret it, but unless you're using it for hdr content on plex specifically I don't think it's worth it.

      • I also use the Pro as a NAS server, which was a nice bonus - I was in the market for a NAS when I bought it.

Samsung owners can also run a SmartThings server on it

    • +1

I read that the pro can do 4K AI upscaling at 60 FPS (eg. YouTube) whereas the tube can only do it at 30 FPS and below (eg. Netflix).

  • was able to price match today in HN (ScreenS printout of TGGC deal @$321 in store) YLMV. https://imgur.com/a/LHUAWKB

maybe if you push your luck you can add the latitude deal on top? bringing it down to $271

    • I tried to price match via online chat but no luck, been told they only price match the item that is available for general public and TGGC is not. Are you saying you could not pay with Latitude Pay in store?

      • no I'm not saying that,
I opted not to pay or even try to pay with latitude. on an already invalid price match as you found out.

I'm saying i price match it in store with a printed cropped screenshot and got it for $321 without asking to pay via latitude.

i mean you could try what i did and then opt for latitude and try to get cheap price.

        • OK tks mate

  • +1

Would have pull the trigger on this if I didn't already ordered new Chromecast with Google tv

    • You could cancel your Chromecast order

  • Is it 3 times better value than a Vodafone Tv Box?

  • All i want to do is run Kodi and stream from the SAMBA share'd HDD connected to my DD-WRT flashed router. I don;t have a NAS per se as everything i need is supplied by the router.

I use wired Ethernet to a dumb box connected to the TV. I just need something that can handle 4K , the current 6 year old $40 Android Box struggles with 1080p but has done an great job. Unfortunately the LG TV App store does not have Kodi.

Not sure what's out there for this ? as reading the replies here it seems the Pro is overkill

    • New chromecast with Google TV or the tube shield will both be good enough for your needs!

    • Vodafone TV would be your best bet. ~$70

      • VF TV can't do frame rate switching in Kodi. You may want to consider other options.

  • Is latitude pay no longer working for anyone else?

I bought something from catch yesterday. Paid the balance immediately. Today it's no longer working. Says i have $0 available and to contact them.

  • Genuine Q: Is this worth getting if you have a GTX1070?

Having 4k120 to be a thing soon with LG CX, I am not sure this is worth it compared to picking up the itx system and taking it to living room or Google's new chromecast (no game streaming) or simply getting PS5 for living room gaming for a few more $…?
