Some updates to the previous deal I posted. Dirt 5 and this Fortnite bundle have been added to amazon.

Also, don't forget the pre-order price guarantee. If the price drops between order and release, you'll pay the lowest price. Also no deposit required for pre-order = pretty good. If you decide you don't want it from Amazon eventually, you can just cancel whenever.

FYI Dirt 5 for PS4 gets the PS5 upgrade for free, is cheaper, and is released 6 days earlier.

    • Makes sense logically, but I assume some people would like to have the PS5 case

      • +1

Hand over your Ozbargain card now :P

    • +2

Several PS5 games are like this (Spider-Man: Miles Morales and I believe all of Ubisoft's releases, possibly some others), so I'd suggest everyone getting a PS5 on/near launch does a bit of research before ordering anything.

If you don't mind the box saying PS4 instead of PS5, you can save ~$10 or more but still get the same content.

      • +1

Yep only a couple reasons you might not want to do this:
        - You want the PS5 box
        - You don't have super fast internet (and therefore will have to download the full PS5 version, instead of installing of the disc and getting the PS5 version + maybe small day 1 patch).

    • +1

The question is when is the free PS5 upgrade available?

  • Do EB Games price match against Amazon Pre-Order prices?

    • +1

I've not heard of them doing so. Only brick & mortar stores.

      • +4

What if the store is in a wooden hut?

    • +2

I don't think so. They only do price match with physical stores around them and the stores need to be in stock.

    • JB will price match Amazon. I have done it for my G502

  • I’m guessing Fortnite: The Last Laugh bundle is just the code like it was with the Deep Freeze bundle?

    • +1

      Yeah, it seems so

      • interesting the ps5 version is the cheapest I've seen.

    • +2

I'm telling myself that it's just skins, but it'd make my son's Christmas.

And give an opportunity to mess with him that they sent it for the wrong system, before unveiling the PS5.

  • +2

cdod cold war is down to $78 at hn and amazon for xb1

    • Oh yeah, looks like Cold War is $78 on PS4 at Amazon, HN and JB. Might be the cheapest way to get it on PS5 since it can be upgraded for a fee - no price given here yet but it's $10 in the US, so I'd wager $15-20.

      • +1

Also worth noting the PS5 disc version of cold war will not function on a PS4, so best disc version is the PS4 version since it can be upgraded to PS5 with a fee so will work on both systems

      • +1

This adds up to more overall though than the Amazon price? $78+$15/$20 = $93/$98 so if you want just for PS5… plus… the box is right.

    • Amazon has 2 versions:

      Cold war Xbone $78
Cold War Xbox Series X $89.

      • Yep

I read online, whilst the Xbox version will work on new Xbox

It doesn’t include the latest graphics , ray tracing thingy

  • +1

I pre ordered the PS5 and can't wait but for some reason whenever I see the price of Sackboy A Big Adventure I think there taking the piss out of us all…

    • +1

Yeah, Little Big Planet and it's floaty jump mechanic is a big reason why I could never get into the series (that and the fact that I'd rather play levels than create them).

      • Hell yes. So floaty. I could never understand the adoration for those games (game journalism, I guess). They looked great, but holy crap those floaty controls and physics were abysmal.

    • +1

      It's Destruction All-Stars that gets me, looks like a $40 - $50 game max.

      • +1

It has that look of a game that will be free on ps plus soon with a saving of $119

        • Imagine if you paid $119 for it though. Ouch! Can't even find gameplay of it.

          • @cc23: Yeah as much as I love combat racers/destruction derby games. There’s no way on this planet I’m getting it, and IF it is online only it’ll be dead. Will just wait for massive discount/free on PS+

  • Is there any reason people would buy games from EB?

    • +1

Carrots. It’s all about the carrots.

    • Price matching and the return policy.

  • Anybody know if the ps5 media remote will work on PS4?

My branded ps4 remote broke, and my TVs HDMI-CEC doesn't work on the ps4 for some reason.

  • +2

Lol wheres the deal? These prices suck. $124 for demons souls wtf. Assuming most games in current gen are $68 on launch, $124 is near double. I imported the original for much much less back in the day.

    • +1

And isn’t it just a remaster?

      • +2

Basically, new engine, redone textures etc. general game appears the same from comparison videos. Also Miles Morales being $94, its not even a full game. I paid $68 for spiderman on launch.

Publishers are clearly taking everyone for a ride, knowing everyone has no choice but to pay these bullshit prices to play games from day 1.

        • -1

And judging by the preorder madness.. publishers have won.

      • Its a remake not a remaster.
Its also made by a different developer from the original.

I know this has gotten confusing, especially with games like Crash N Sane Trilogy that say they're "remastered" on the box but its literally just marketing.
Remake sounds riskier, there's so many bad remakes out there.
Remaster sounds more authentic, so it is now being used even when a game clearly isn't one.

  • The fortunate part of missing pre-order is by the time the console is freely available all of these should be $20+ cheaper

    • +2

      Time is only an advantage.
      The games will get cheaper.
The launch units will have the highest amount of quality control issues.
The PS5 slim is obviously going to happen considering how obnoxiously oversized this one is.

I get that people are eager after such a downer of a year. They really want to get something new and exciting for Christmas and video games have been one of the top ways to wait out the pandemic.
But these prices truly are absurd, if you can just be patient you only stand to save money.
And have more games available to you when you finally get one.

      • Well obnoxiously is a bit harsh… he a lil’ thick, but that’s ok.

        • It's bigger than the PS3 (original) and the original xbox (which was often joked about being "XBOX HUEG").
It's bigger than it needs to be with those large white side-panels and it is not a good looking box.

I say this not as a slam on PS5, but as a clear indicator that Sony will release a slim model, probably as quick as possible now that the world has seen how small the Series X and Series S are.

      • "The PS5 slim is obviously going to happen considering how obnoxiously oversized this one is."
It looks bloody horrendous. The one without the disc drive not quite so much, but still, fairly horrendous. The controllers look ugly as hell too. Reckon I'm with you and will be waiting it out for a slim or PS5+ — if I get one at all.

  • +6

These prices are shocking. I love Playstation but seriously these prices aren't making me want a PS5.

    • +1

Hell no. As much as I'd love to play the Demon's Souls remake, I def won't be buying day one.

  • +2

$110 for a controller? Jesus… get off the grass!

    • +1

      It's pretty bad.
Luckily you won't need to buy new ones to play PS4 games.
But PS5 multiplayer games will require the new controller for each player.

      • $125 for Demon's Souls probably irks me a bit more. No way am I jumping in until prices drop.

  • Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Deluxe Edition (PS5) is $81.99 at OzGameShop if anyone's interested.

  • Immortals Fenyx Rising is $5 cheaper on PS5 than PS4? Interesting.

  • Demon’s Souls has dropped to $109 at Amazon.
