Since Chinese companies could produce their own flash chips, the Samsung factory never is on fire. Whatever you like china or not, the price of ram and SSD is going down now.
Taiwan company, samsung factory is in china.
Wondering if 2 sets will work together in a 4 slot B550 motherboard? Hoping 64GB good for 4K video editing.
Yes it will
Which AMD CPU are u running? For Ryzen CPUs - the performance sweetspot is 3600MHz CL16. Also, Ryzen prefer 2 sticks of RAM as opposed to 4 - so if you can, consider a 2x32GB kit instead. You might struggle to find 2x32GB at 3600MHz CL16 but it should be easier to find 2x32GB at 3600MHz CL18.
CPU 3900X or perhaps maybe 5900X when available. May not be the optimal option or fastest RAM but $/GB looks to be good value.
If you can hold off, Ram prices are continuing to fall.
I bought 64gig of this ram because I couldn't hold off and 3600mhz was too expensive to justify for marginal performance gains.
@Blizzard57: Once have firm ETA on 3080, will jump then.
For 4k editing i'd want fastest workflow possible - but up to you. If you are going to upgrade to 5900x consider waiting until they release optimal RAM specs for that series of chips.
@Ori0n: What about the 3700x? Does that also prefer two slots compared to four? For 4k editing if I buy two sets of these kits how much worst would it be versus say 2x32 @ 3600 cl18?
@vitaminb10: Ryzen always prefers 2 sticks over 4, even more so if you plan to OC the RAM. Simpler = Better. Less kits means less stress on RAM controller, and less electrical load. Make sure you have them loaded into the correct motherboard slots.
Ryzen loves speedy RAM - the performance sweetspot is 3600MHz CL16 (actually it's technically 3733MHz but kits rarely come in that speed) because of the Infinity Fabric.
Generally speaking - pick a kit that is on your motherboard's QVL (qualified vendor's list). I would always prioritise clock speed over latency.@Ori0n: Thank you so much for that info! Clarified a lot. Especially the prioritising. Cheers!
Ryzen always prefers 2 sticks over 4
That's true for Ryzen 1st and 2nd gens, but AMD seem to have that sorted in the 3rd gen, where timings and latency also have less impact than previous gens on gaming performance.
@Ori0n: Actually it's 3800, but not all chips can do it. We don't know what the IA is for Zen3
@bex000: If all chips can't do it - then its not stable and is very far from a sweetspot. Hence why everyone says 3600 (or 3733).
@vitaminb10: For the 3700x, 4 DIMMs appears to be faster, at least for FHD gaming.
4 x 8GB DIMMs is 3% faster on average than 2 x 8GB DIMMs. This is doubling total RAM too though.
4 x 8GB single-rank DIMMs is also faster than 2 x 16GB dual-rank DIMMs, even though dual-rank DIMMs are faster than single-rank.
The fastest combo would be 4 dual-rank DIMMs.

https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_ram_scaling_…@particle: Thanks for that info! Does that info (2 vs 4) only apply to gaming? Does that data also transfer over to 4k editing? Or just for gaming? Sorry, total noob here.
@vitaminb10: Sorry i'm not sure about its impact on video editing, but it's possible. But i think for video editing the biggest impact would be the amount of RAM first, and then as OrionAU said, then prioritise clock speed over latency. Except perhaps for the command rate which can have a decent impact on performance - i'd suggest 1N / 1T.
Have Ryzen 2700x and current RAM is G Skill 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000. Any preference if I want to replace?
Not sure you need to upgrade ur RAM - why do you want to replace it?
@Ori0n: Used to get Memory management BSD quite often and thought if it is RAM hardware.
I did a third clean installation of windows and drivers again and seems to be stable from last few weeks. Keeping a note of good RAM if 3000 was not favourable one for Ryzen and 5700xt.@EnALup: Do you have a XMP profile enabled in BIOS? Is your RAM actually running at 3000MHz? I once went 4 years before realising I never enabled XMP when I built the PC…. lol
@Ori0n: I haven't enabled it specifically unless it is enabled by default in Asus x470 Gaming MB. When I initially used AMD (forgot the name) software last year, RAM was not showing at 3000Mhz. I uninstalled all software other than Adrenalin GPU one.
Is there a way to check what is the frequency in any other way?@EnALup: Right click windows icon ->Task Manager. Go to Performance Tab and click on Memory. Will show speed there.
@Ori0n: Its showing speed of 2133 MHz :(
thats quite low…@EnALup: Yeah you need to enable an XMP profile in BIOS. 2133MHz will be the standard speed for that kit, enable the XMP profile to get it to OC to 3000MHz.
@Ori0n: Thanks man. Looking at video on how to set it up for AMD ( AMP profile). CPU-Z shows DRAM frequency to be 1064.1 Mhz. with CAS Latency to be 15 clocks with Dual Channels. I have put RAM in 2 and 4 slots.
@EnALup: Depending on your motherboard/BIOS it should list as DOCP, XMP, or A-XMP probably. AMP is old and I doubt it will list as that. It's pretty easy to set the profile - just a matter of enabling the correct profile. Note the profile will likely list as 1500MHz. You double the rate to get the effective clock speed (which is why CPUZ is showing your speed at 1064 - about half 2133).
@Ori0n: Done. Thanks man. You are a legend !!!
Yes, it was DOCP in advanced settings of MB. Left rest of settings as default.
After my purchase and initial AMD issues with GPU, I dropped all OC settings of CPU and didnt know of this profile. Glad I read your comment today. Its now showing 3000 Mhz in Task manager and 1496.4 Mhz as you explained in CPU-Z :). Fingers crossed and hope it remains stable.
Can I ask you another question if you might help. My New desktop always have network issue connecting back to Network after a restart. The wired connection after signing in shows disconnected for initial 1 minute. After than it connects. Tried all driver updates, but could not find the issue. Old desktop does not have that issue. Using Asus X470-F Gaming MB, MSI gaming X 5700 XT card (nothing overclocked ) and 16 GB RAM. SSD is Samsing 870 NVMe M2 500 GB. Not sure if the NVM is bottlenecking something in bus or some other issue.
Any suggestion would be welcome.@EnALup: Nice, and no problems. It's one of those things alot of people don't seem to know - that the advertised clock speed on their RAM is not actually the speed it will run at when you just plug it in. As I said before, I once went 4 years at a lower speed for no reason because I just forget to check and didn't notice. Doh.
On the network issue - that's a weird one - sounds like a driver issue to me or a power saving issue. But as you say you have updated all ur drivers… maybe try the power saving thing. From Device Manager, click network adapters, then right click on ur network adapter and choose properties. Go to the power management tab and unclick the option that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this devise to save power'. See if that works.
@Ori0n: Thanks again. Yes, I lived with lower frequency for over an year now.
For network issue, I have already unchecked that setting with no luck. Well its a 1 minute annoyance without network after PC takes less than few seonds to boot. Well first world problems u know. Reminds me of 4 minutes boot time in windows XP or 7.
Will try contacting Asus support for this.
Upgrade it! Nothing like having a million tabs open. If I could fit 1000gb of ram into two slot. I would.
RRP $699 ?¿?¿
yea 8 years ago LOL
Nah mate 2 years ago, it's actually legit what they were selling for back then
yea i know.. its like everything electronic/IT style.. you pay crazy one year, next year its give away :(
Is it worth upgrading from 16GB to 32GB? I’m considering doing so but not sure if there will be any benefit.
Depends what you are using your PC for. For gaming - basically no difference but you'll notice a difference for workflow tasks.
better spend on SSD / monitor
As below, depends what you do. Day to day office use, no. Gaming, no. If you find you're running out of memory a lot yes.
If it's a "just because" reason, it's probably not worth it. Spend money on a faster SSD/NVMe.
Thanks for all the responses. Don’t need any more storage with 2x NVMe drives totalling 2.5TB so I guess the next upgrade will be a new GPU
Wow RAM is actually seriously cheap now… I guess it's about time I should upgrade my 1333Mhz RAM hehe :)
People are so toxic :(
Aw, thank you to the people who turned around my -2 vote comment into +5 votes and the second comment into +14 votes :)
It really goes to show that not everyone is that toxic. It's not even about the votes itself, but the fact that people actually care :)

Anyone can comment on how long does it take to get tracking info?
Mine says dispatch within 24hrs but it's been 5 days yet still 'tracking not yet available'.
Same here, I sent emails to them but never get replied. I did bank transfer of roughly $1500 for CPU and other parts. I d lodge claim through CBA to chase my money back if they keep ignoring emails
Wow $1500 from one store? I didn't realize they have some many parts on sale. Did you try to ring them?
luckily I didnt buy the 3080 with them. For such a terrible service I d definitely buy elsewhere
When did you send the emails?
Guess as there was a long weekend in between the 5 days where 3 of those days no couriers etc were working may be a cause?
That could be a factor but no one's working on Friday and today? I would expect at lease some response from the store.
sure but maybe they were so flat out prepping for the holiday your email was at the bottom of the list? I'm waiting for stuff I ordered 6 weeks ago from a company that is still waiting on supplies to clear the docks
@ShannonN: Mmmm… I start to wonder if you are associated with them. Not trying to blame anyone but just curious about what's going on. Even if they say like 'man we are flat out just be hold for a day or two' is acceptable.
@gosund: no, no association apart from a purchaser of goods in the last few weeks.
I got an adata nvme, like someone else mentioned after 5 days of inaction and no goods.
an enquiry made via online website form got things moving.within 12 hrs it was packed shipped etc I just think of the massive amount of deals all the box shifters are doing now and there was a wharfies strike for a few weeks plus covid there is bound to be oos situations, backlogs of picking and packing etc i just kept calm made a polite enquiry which bought my order to the top of the list and got the goods, once sent only took 2 days to rural Qld
Try their Facebook.
I've ordered and received a few things from shopping express within 2 days, the tracking usually gets added next business day, love their work
I ordered this ram from the last deal only to receive it today. Ordered placed on 20/09. I emailed them on 29/09 (7 business days after my order was placed) to see where things at and got a reply back saying it's being packed and will be dispatched from the warehouse the next day (30/09). I feel like if I didn't email them, it would've taken longer.
I don't mind the fact it took a while since it got to the hands of AusPost. COVID impact on them I can understand… but 7 days to dispatch it from the warehouse?! C'mon…
Well, at least it's now been dispatched.
Waiting for my reply.
they took 5 business days from when i paid to when it was dispatched.
That being said, took auspost 1 month to deliver. Tracking was at the Alexandria distribution centre for basically 3 to 4 weeks and at that point was pretty certain they lost it or someone helped themselves to free ram considering I had other items go through the same distribution centre including overseas items that arrived and that was ordered after my items from shopping express. Tracking coincidentally updated the moment I complained to them and had an investigation started through my bank
Took 5 days for them to post my order of this same RAM from the last deal.
$10 for shipping to Brisbane
What die it use?
Hynix
Thanks
Hynix CJR/DJR if you're lucky.
You'll likely get C-die as a lot of 3200 16-18-18 kits are using C-die.Thanks. Currently I have a corsair lpx vengeance 2666Mhz 16x2 kit, which I have successfully OC to 3200Mhz (15, 19, 16, 38). I'm wondering if the kit will be compatible to this G.Skill 3200Mhz kit? (My motherboard is Prime x299 a which supports 4 channels). Thanks in advance!
It's generally not a good idea to mix kits as some may not play nice with each other. If they do happen to work with each other, your OC will be limited to the worst kit. Adding another kit should help performance quite a bit due to quad channel.
@integral: Thanks.
How accurate is Thaiphoon Burner? It reports my version of this kit as Samsung B-Die, which I don't know if I believe that. I used the DOCP setting and I'm currently runnint at 3200MHz 16-18-18-38-1T.
This is one of the kits that used to be a lower binned Samsung die, but eventually switched to Hynix. So I'd say in this case, I would attempt to look at the die instead to confirm.
I have the same model of this kit and they are Samsung C die. They can overclock to 3600 [email protected] or 4000 [email protected]. I know they are very loose but what should you expect from a kit from 3200Cl16?
Great price, but be aware of the command rate (2N / 2T). I would have expected all 3200MHz DIMMs to have a command rate of 1 unless heavily overclocked.
At FHD, the gaming difference for the command rate appears to be 3.5% FPS on average, and up to 9% for WWZ: (https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_ram_scaling_…).
Holding out for a deal on 32GB (2x16GB) 3600 CL16, that stuff aint as cheap yet.
You missed this? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566574
It’s still available too if you switch other sellers and select Amazon UK
cheers dudes!
will this work with ryzen 5000 cpus?
yes
I just bought
G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2X 8GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL16 Memory
From Amazon at $129 including shipping. I have a b550 mobo
Wondering if I should cancel and go for this, if it represents a lot better value?
100%
If you need the capacity, then yes. Otherwise 3600 CL16 will perform better than 3200 CL16.
cheers, in the end decided to stick to my original decision of only needing 16gb
I'm currently in a predicament, I currently have 2x8gb corsair dominator platinum ddr4 3200mhz ram, should I purchase more at the same price as these or should I go for the ones listed instead?
Mate, I was in similar boat. Mobo is b450 mortar max
I've got G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2X 8GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL16
In the end past luck experience told me to go the safe route..
Bought Patriot Viper Steel Series2x16GB 3200MHz from amazon & will sell the ripjaws.
Definitely need more capacity but I don't know if I can tell there difference in speed - plus there is a chance for overclock if needed
I have a Gigabyte GA-AB350M-D3H, with a Ryzen 7 2700 CPU. Current RAM I have is 16gb of 2666mhz Vengeance LPX RAM (2 * 8GB sticks). Wondering if this would replace that RAM and how much of an improvement would it be performance wise. I'm pretty sure that 3200mhz is the max this Mobo and CPU can take.
3200MHz may be a bit ambitious with a budget B350 mobo and Zen+. You'll likely be able to do 2933/3000 without issues but even that isn't guaranteed, especially if these are dual rank (pretty likely).
https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/ryzen_7/2700#Memory_control…
As for performance improvement, I wouldn't expect much more than 5%.
I just realised my CPU is Ryzen 7 2700X, though seems to have the same RAM specs. I'm actually running the 2666mhz RAM at 2933mhz with no issues. I can get another 2 sticks of the same RAM for $99 so thinking this might be a better idea than getting this. I presume running my existing RAM with this wouldn't work very well if at all, plus you rarely hear of systems with 48GB of RAM (or would it?)
I would recommend getting 2x16GB over 4x8GB as many motherboards use a daisy chain topology which favours 2 sticks. You could sell your old sticks to recoup some of the cost.
From my experiences with SE, it's much better to buy from one of their eBay stores with your eBay Plus membership because they send the items by Express Post. Most of the stuff only took 2 days from Sydney to Melbourne from the day I ordered them, one even the next day. One more plus is easy to return thru eBay. The downside is not all of their stuff are on eBay stores.
Currently have G-Skill F4-3000C15-8GVRB. Running at 14-14-15-15-30. Is this a big improvement over what I have? If so I'll pull the trigger…
no
I bought this ram several months back to match the identical two I already had. I can't recall the price now but it was almost certainly higher. 64GB now but the minimum size now for the hibernate file is 13GB for the hybrid shutdown. It slows the shutdown even on a fast NVMe. Startup seems about the same as it always was. I'm now going to reduce the swap file to a minimum.
Why not just disable hibernate?
It is on the agenda with about 10 million other things.
Would an upgrade to 3200mhz from 2666mhz been worth it on an intel system? outside of the fact i'd be going 16gb to 32gb which wpuld be worth it for my work with point clouds etc
You will get better speed but marginal improvement in speed from 2666mhz, high capacity does contribute as well to speed if you were bottlenecking on memory space. I don't think these ram are dual ranked DIMMs, that will also help to improve speed as well.
Don't buy anything from these guys! I bought some RAM on the 22/09 from them and they still refuse to give me the tracking number for the shipping. It's been 5 days since I last heard from their customer service despite sending them 3 emails asking nicely for the status of my order.
Great, now they say it's been lost in transit! At least they said they'll give a full refund :/

How cheap ram has become in the last few months. I remember paying $180-190 for the exact same kit.
