Up To $150 Trade-in on Your Old Boots @ R.M. Williams (in-Store Only)

100

Just got an email from R.M. Williams to trade up to a new pair:

From October 5 until October 25, 2020 you can trade in your old leather boots of any brand and receive up to $150 off your next boot purchase.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

  1. Step into your old leather boots

  2. Walk them into a store near you

  3. Our boot experts will give your well worn boots the once over

  4. If your boots make the cut you’ll then be fitted for your new pair of RMs

  5. Step out the door in the best boots in the world

Note that trading in an old pair of RMs will get you $150, but any other brand will only get $100 trade-in. Not sure if I'd want to do that, my RMs are well-moulded to my feet and are really comfy so I don't think I'd want to part with them.

$150 off RRP is still more expensive than some sales but pretty decent if you want to try and buy in store.

  • Nice, no deal for victorians

      They don't want infected boots.

  • Not really a deal. Allingtons had $200 off retail on a new pair only a couple of weeks ago, $395. I got a pair 😁

Agreed, if you shop around you may get a better price from other retailers, but it's not often you get this much off direct from R.M. Williams stores. They may be more convenient to some people, and I've always had great service from their own stores. (I'm really gonna miss the clearance store in Toowoomba…they had the best sales at EOFY, and the staff were amazing.)

      • Totally agree the in store service is exemplary. I have an RM Williams outlet near me and almost went to get a pair of seconds but a new pair from Allingintons was the same price.

  • Th obvious better value is getting the $100 credit for any pair of leather boots because they would have cost much less than a RMW. Only problem is $100 off retail prices is still too high vs sales.

  • damn, only boots but not applicable to RM shoes - I have 2 of them and pretty worn out !! only if they could; alas !!

Are they really this comfy ?

  • I got an old pair of Doc Martins (Made in UK) that are too small that I could trade in.

    • if they're in good condition, a rare or sought after style, you might be able to get more than $100 selling on ebay.

      • Condition is decent, leather is clean and well maintained, and the sole is in good nick too!

  • Good deal for people who have skinny or wide feet that aren't included in general sales.

If you have an old pair of RMs, get them properly re soled and it's worth more than the $150 they will give you for it.

  • If your boots can be 'walked in,' then they can also be restored and resoled. Last time I had it done, it was $120 at the RM store, but a decent cobbler should be <$100. It will breathe new life into boots that already remember your feet, and saves coughing up another $500+ for a new pair.

    • I did this, too, but the local shoe & boot repair place wasn't able to put the same hard-wearing synthetic sole on that I wanted. They were quite happy to put a leather sole on if I opted for that (sorry, I don't recall what the quote was). I ended up going through the local R.M. store; it cost me about the same as you and it was like getting brand new pair of boots that were pre-fitted.

      • Full re sole is now $165

  • Been into a few op shops recently where pairs of RM Williams have been on the shelf marked at $20-$30 in good condition (kinda surprised the hipsters hadn’t got to them first). Not a bad way to get a decent in-store discount. After all, they never said you had to wear the ones you’re trading in.

      Actually, it does:

      HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

      1. Step into your old leather boots

      2. Walk them into a store near you

    • Who TF gives RMW boots to OP shops? And who TF doesn't buy them for $20-$30 when they see them?

    • +1

Been into a few op shops recently where pairs of RM Williams have been on the shelf marked at $20-$30 in good condition

Which ones? And I doubt it. The last 10-15 years, op shops have become very savvy about knowing what their donated clothes are worth. My friend used to keep anything he'd like, before sorting the rest for sale or bin. The days of finding hidden gems in Vinnies on King St are long gone, especially when everything is a Google or eBay search away, so the real goodies would be snapped up before they ever made it onto a rack.

No one who bought RMs is ignorant to their value and would put them in a donation bin (especially 'good condition' pairs), then have an equally ignorant op shop employee marking them at $20-30. And you said a 'few' op shops? Multiple? More likely you saw similar-looking Chelsea boots.

This is great! Have a voucher to buy some boots from my 40th now I can trade in and get a belt too

  • I've got a 10 year old pair that I'm going to trade in.

They are just about due for their 3rd re-sole and second replacement of the elastics which according to the website is $300. Might as well get a new pair for $450.
